Moments ago, we made an exciting announcement about a merger between Wattpad Studios and WEBTOON Studios to create Wattpad WEBTOON Studios. So mark your calendars, because today is a special day in Wattpad's history— June 24, 2021 is now the birthdate of Wattpad WEBTOON Studios. 

Earlier this year, Wattpad was acquired by Naver. As many of you know, WEBTOON, the leader in digital comics, is also part of the Naver family. And while the Wattpad and WEBTOON platforms remain separate platforms for stories and their creators, we now reach a combined audience of 166 million people worldwide!

Our mission with Wattpad WEBTOON Studios is simple—we want to bring the Wattpad and WEBTOON stories we love, written by community members just like you, to audiences all over the world. In a time when YA and comic adaptations are some of the biggest hits in publishing and entertainment, Wattpad and WEBTOON creators have penned some of the best, most engaging stories in YA, comics, and beyond. Diverse stories, with built-in audiences and passionate fans all over the world.

As Wattpad WEBTOON Studios, we're launching the world's first truly modern studio armed with an unmatched library of IP (that's industry speak for stories!), powered by a new generation of creators and the technology to create hits in every genre. We're pioneering a new approach to entertainment, using what we know when it comes to data and audience insights to elevate diverse voices and create mainstream hits.

We know many of you reading this are Wattpad creators. It's your stories that get us excited about the work we're doing, and we're looking forward to working with you to reshape the entertainment landscape.
