"Skylar are you ready to go." my dad asked

I look into the mirror to examine myself.  I was wearing a red top with ruffled sleeves with mom jeans and white sneakers.

I put on some mascara and some clear lip gloss. My hair was pulled into a ponytail since I hate my hair in my face.

I quickly walked downstairs grabbing my phone and then walked outside getting into my dad's truck.

"I'm still confused about why I'm going on a tour in the first place"

"Skylar when we get to MBPA I want you to go in with an open mind. Okay?" my dad said completely ignoring me.

"Okay"

I stared out the window watching buildings pass me at 65 mph for the next thirty minutes.

"We're here"

I sat up at my dad's voice. We drove through black gates with the school's logo in the center.

"Michael Rowan"

I looked over to see who my dad was talking to only to see a large black speaker that he was taking into. After he said his name, the gates immediately opened.

Is this what rich people feel like?

When we finally reached the school my jaw dropped. It was so big and pretty. The school was three story's of red brick with white columns in front of the door.

"It's not as big as you think. It's ranges from 3p to twelfth grade" dad smiled.

3 what?

I hopped out of the truck and pulled my top trying to straighten it. I felt under dressed at such a nice school. I should have worn a dress. Or heels. No not heels, I would fall.

My dad came up to me and squeezed my shoulder for comfort. I gave him a small smile letting him know I was fine.

I look forward to see an older man in a gray suit with gray hair and a few wrinkles under his eyes walking towards us. He had a huge smile on his face.

My dad stepped forward going to meet the man. He reached his hand out shaking his hand as a greeting. I walked up hesitantly to the two and reached my hand out as well.

"H-Hello I'm Skylar" I stuttered

"Hello Ms. Rowan. I'm Dr. Deen the headmaster at Mountain Brook Preparatory Academy. I am delighted to be able to give you a tour of the finest school in the state." He said continuing to smile.

I gave Dr. Deen a small smile and nodded.

I wasn't sure what to say considering that I was not sure why I'm here.

Dad and him talked shortly while I admired the school. To my left their was a gym, a football stadium and tennis courts.

" If you two will just follow me to my office" Dr. Deen said, drawing back my attention.

I walked behind my dad and followed them into the school.

When I stepped into his office I noticed a girl with straight blonde hair to her shoulders. Her icy blue eyes shot daggers at us as we entered. She had a black wrap dress with snake skin espadrilles on.

Definitely under dressed

"Ms. Rowan this is Ms. Houston. She is our SCA president and she will be telling you about our school while your father and I talk."

I nodded my head at the man before I gave my dad a look pleading for him not to make me go. I hated meeting new people.

"I will see you soon Sky" dad said before placing a kiss on my temple.

The girl walked out of the office and I took that as my cue to follow her.

Before I had a chance to breathe she started rambling.

"Ok so just because I'm giving you this tour doesn't mean you can talk to me if you get into this school"

I was taken back at her words. Who does she think she is?

"Oh, I not applying to get into this school"  I explained.

"Then why am I wasting my time showing you around when I could be getting my nails done" she huffed, crossing her arms.

She brought up a good point about wasting her time but she didn't have to give me an attitude.

"I don't even know why I am here. My parents could never afford to send me to this school" I mumbled

I continued to walk down the hall with her. The walls had wood paneling halfway up that met a cream wall. There were no lockers or trophy cases, just wooden doors that I assumed led to the classrooms. We continued to walk around the campus, the girl mumbling things here and there but I wasn't paying any attention. The school was gorgeous no doubt bit I couldn't care less about who the founders were and or the successful alumni.

"What's your name," she asked finally looking at me in the eyes.

"Skylar"

"Well I'm Margaret Houston"

I nodded my head. She stared at me for few seconds with a confused look on her face.

"Do you not know who I am" she asked

"No, Should I?" I asked raising my eyebrow

" My mom is Serena Houston"

I shook my head slowly as I strolled behind her.

"I don't know who that it is" I said giving her a grim look

"She's a fashion designer. She's known all over the world for her bags. She's in Italy right now."

I nodded my head not knowing what to say.

I'm not good when it comes to fashion brands.

"Well, I guess it makes sense you haven't heard of her. It's not like you could afford one of her bags." She continued talking waving her hand around in the air.

I looked at her like she just lost her head. I'm not sure if she thought that saying something like that wasn't rude or if she talked like that to everyone.

"Why do you think you can just say stuff like that to people?" I asked, "Didn't your nanny teach you manners?"

"Excuse me who do you think you are?" She exclaimed turning around to face me.

I rolled my eyes at her response. She sounded like one of those stuck-up girls from a Disney channel movie.

"A person who deserves respect even if my parents aren't rich and famous," I told her gritting my teeth.

I turned my head around not wanting to be with her. I was wasting her time anyways.

"Enjoy your Medi Pedi" I called out, turning around the corner, back to the office.

I heard her scoff at what I said but I didn't care, it's not like I was ever going to see her again.

I continued walking back to my dad, my cheeks red with anger, at what Margaret had said to me.

I don't know what I am doing at this school but I am so thankful my parents are not rich so I wouldn't have to come here.
