Skylars POV

" 4th and twelve for the Panthers, Brannon will snap it off, Reid steps up, going to throw down the field. The ball is making its way to Griffin and.."

I slowly stood up on my feet along with the rest of the student section. Marlee grabbed my arm digging her nails into my arm.

We were down by a field goal. ( A.N 3 points) The game had been really intense. Our offense was so much stronger than there's but our defense sucked. We couldn't stop Matrix from scoring to save our lives. Their offense wasn't very good but they could throw a ball well enough to score.

I glanced at the clock and saw there were thirty seconds left. Even if the clock ran out the play continues but if we scored there won't be enough time for Matrix to score.

I love football

" and Griffin makes the catch and he's down at the five. First down Panthers"

The crowd erupted in cheers. This is what we needed. Luca punched his arm in the air celebrating his perfect throw. The guy was good, really good, but I wasn't going to tell him that.

" Fifteen seconds that's plenty of time right?" The girl behind me asked. I don't know her name but she knew that I knew football so she's been asking me questions all the second half.

She mentioned that she only came to support her boyfriend and was trying to understand the game. I was more than happy to help, it made me a little nostalgic. I remember asking my dad the same questions she is asking.

" Plenty" I answered

" As long as Luca doesn't screw up" Marlee interrupted.

I slapped her on the side and she glared at me. I gave her a stern look back. She's been dissing on Luca the entire game and he hasn't made a mistake. I'm sure it's just brother and sister love but she doesn't need to jinx us.

"He probably will"

I turned around to my side to see Cleo playing some game on her phone. She joined us at halftime because her feet got tired. She had no interest in the game but I'm glad she was here.

"Cleo just focus on getting your yellow bird in between the green poles, please" I huffed.

"Yes ma'am" she grinned, giving me a mock salute.

I turned around and started to focus on the game again. I could faintly hear Luca yelling at the others. He looked so stern on the field making the commands and getting the offense set up.

He was kinda hot

"Brannon will snap the ball, Reid hands the ball over to Henderson, annnnnnddd TOUCHDOWN PANTHERS!" the announcer cheered.

We all erupted into cheers again and Cleo looked up from her phone, granted she had a confused look, but she knew something had happened.

Marlee and I cheered and wrapped our arms around each other in a tight hug. The girl behind me grabbed my shoulders with a little squeeze and started screaming.

I may have not been here long but I already have so much more pride in the school than I did at Jefferson. I've made true friends here, not just companions, most people maybe a little bit of a snob but they loved their school. And that made the it a whole lot more fun.

I watched as Luca went and did the chest bump thing with Blake and a couple of other guys. After a few minutes of celebrating, Marlee and I headed down to the field to talk to Bailey.

That girl may be super quiet but she can cheer her heart out. I paid more attention to the cheerleaders tonight than I usually do and my respect went up. The only thing I thought they did was wave their pom-poms around but I was wrong.

I have no idea how they can flip and twist and still come up with a smile on their face.

We walked down the stairs and Bailey found us before we found her.

" Great... um... Cheering" I said very awkwardly. I guess that's what I would say a good job for. I'm not sure.

" Thanks, Sky. And great spectating" she said nudging me with her arm.

" We are the best" Marlee laughed.

Luca's POV

Our defense is complete shit.  If their sorry asses cost me a scholarship, I'm going to be pissed. The offense on the other hand played great, thank goodness, but we never should have been put in that situation.

I stormed into the locker room and found most of the guys cheering. Usually, I would be right there with them but no way. I had to speak to Coach before I knew whether to start yelling at them or celebrate with them.

"Hey Reid, you going to Margaret's tonight?" I turned around to see who was talking to me. I scanned the faces and saw Asher Huges, a defensive lineman, who I was already mad at for playing terribly, with a smug look on his face.

"No man, I've got things to do" I snapped

I turned back around and walked into the coach's office and slammed the door to let everyone know that I was not in the mood.

"Coach please tell me those dimwits didn't just ruin my future"

"Luca I know the game didn't go the way you wanted but all you did was prove that you are good enough of a player to win games even with a bad team. And those 'dimwits' are your teammates." Coach scolded but he knew I was right.

I rolled my eyes and sat down in front of him. He had a point, I did everything correctly. My passes were perfect, my handoffs were perfect, and I lead the team to victory.

"Luca those scouts know that what went wrong tonight had nothing to do with you. It's me, I need to have our defense working harder in practice, not just the offense"

I nodded my head agreeing. Our coach is an offensive mind kind of guy. He tells the defense to tackle the guy with the ball and that's as far as it goes when it comes to coaching.

" Go celebrate son, you played a hell of a game" he smiled slapping me on my shoulder

I stood up from the chair and walked back into the locker room and gave some manly hugs to some of the guys who played their asses off.

"Henderson, Griffith, pizza" I called when I finally got done changing

"Sounds good" they both called

I quickly shot Marlee a text to let her know the plans and made my way to my car. I was finally able to breathe since Coach told me scouts were coming.
