After dropping Pedri home I returned to my apartment to find Luca asleep on the couch.

If I didn't know him I'll say this is a normal thing, but knowing him, I know that he actually waited for me to get back home so I can tell him all about tonight.

Without deciding to wake him up, I covered him with a blanket and planted a kiss on his head.

I jumped in bed, ready to doze off to sleep but a message showed up on my phone screen.

unknown number
Thank you for tonight. I really enjoyed it.

me
I don't remember giving you my phone number😂😂

unknown number
A mutual friend😉

A mutual friend, Kylian Mbappe.

I decided to quickly save Pedri's number.

me
And he gave it to you?🤔😂

Pedri

I can be very persuasive😂😂

me
Clearly😂😂 But thank you aswell for tonight.  I haven't had such a good time in a while. And it was  truly my pleasure.😘

Pedri
I'll see you soon. Good night Irina😘

me
Night Pedri😊

I locked my phone and set it down on my nightstand. I turned around, a smile spreading across my face.

Since I can remember, Kylian, Luca, Neymar and Andrea were the only people that made me feel like home, until Kylian and Luca were the only ones that stayed. The only people I have left and the only people I'll never let go of. But now, Pedri just entered the scene and I couldn't not feel a sense of joy. He clearly had a good heart and tonight it felt more like catching up with a friend I haven't seen in ages rather than a date with someone I just met.

***

I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing angrily. I groaned and answered it, my eyes still closed.

'Irina! Hola! Please tell me I didn't wake you up.' a very familiar voice was heard.

I opened my eyes, checking the time. 7:45am.

Damn.

Caro's name then popped up on the screen, waking me up completely.

'Hey. Is everything okay? Did something happen?' I asked worried.

Carolina will never call me this early unless there was an emergency and I was starting to freak out.

'Yes.' she said, making my heart skip a few beats. 'Davi is going to drive me crazy. He woke up at 7 and packed his bag ready to come to you.' I could hear the exhaustion in her voice.

'You scared me.' I chuckled lightly, relieved. 'I have work today—'

'SEE! She's busy. I told you, Davi.' Caro cut me off and told Davi, making me assume that I was on speaker.

'You didn't let me finish.' I laughed. 'I have work today but I'll send Luca right now to pick him up.'

'But you have work.' she said softly.

'Davi is never a burden. Plus I do need another colleague today. The cafe tends to get super busy on this day.' I lied. 'So go put your shoes on and stop driving your mum crazy.' I laughed, addressing the young boy.

'I don't know what I'll do without you.' Caro sighed. 'Thank you.'

'Of course.' I smiled. 'Besos.' I said, her response being a few kisses noises.

I ended the call and jumped out of bed, heading straight towards the couch.

'Luca.' I said, nudging him softly. 'Wake up.'

'You're home!' he said excitedly, grabbing my arm and pulling me towards him.

'I've been home.' I chuckled, hugging him.

'How was it?' he said a smile spreading across his face.

'I'll give you all the details, but not before you go pick up Davi until I get ready for work.'

'Davi?' he asked surprised.

'Yep.' I nodded my head.

I could see a flicker of excitement in his eyes.

Luca adored Davi, just like the rest of us. And well, Luca was definitely one of Davi's favourite people. They both had the same sense of humour and Luca being the child he is, makes sense why Davi accepts him.

***

It took Luca 10 minutes to get ready, leaving me all by myself. I jumped in the shower and started freshening up.

I threw on a pair of grey joggers and a white t-shirt, straightening my hair as soon as I was done.

***

I was making my way to the parking lot after I received a message from Luca saying they're here.

With each step, I was growing even more excited to see Davi. As soon as Davi saw me, he jumped out the car and rushed towards me.

'Davi!' I said excitedly, wrapping my arms around him.
'Look at you!' we both said at the same time, him
mocking me.

'You always say this.' he shook his head laughing.

'Because everytime I don't see you, somehow you turn even more handsome.' I smiled and ruffled his hair.

We got into the car and started driving towards the cafe. The drive was filled with laughter and chatter, all of us catching up.

***

'I never thought I'll say this, but I missed you.' Diego said as soon as I entered the cafe.

'Of course you did.' I smiled, hugging the not so tough boy.

'Okay, get off of me now.' he said in disgust, a big smile on his face.

Diego then greeted my boys and we opened the cafe.

People were coming in, each of us having a task at hand.

***

'So what happened?' I asked Davi, taking a bite of a croquette.

It was now my lunch break, so I decided to interrogate Davi for a little. Customers were still coming in, as Luca was helping Diego. Some would glance at the young boy sitting at my table, clearly recognising him.

'What are you talking about?' Davi asked, and I could tell he was hiding something from me.

'Davi...' I said with a small smile. 'I'm not your mum. I'm never going to judge you or tell you off, unless it's really necessarily. And that's only because I love you like you're my own.' he started fidgeting with his fingers, not looking at me. 'What happened?'

'There's this girl I really like.' he started. 'But mum and dad... they don't really like her. They say I'm too young and I need to be careful because of who my dad is.' he rolled his eyes.

'Is she nice?'

'Yeah..' but he sounded unsure.

'Why did they tell you to be careful? Did she do anything?' I asked confused.

'Not her, necessarily.' he shook his head. 'But her parents are very pushy. They always ask questions about our family and she sometimes asks about dad and when her family can meet him.' he shrugged his shoulders.

I took a deep breath and reached with my hand for his. 'You're young... and there's going to be plenty of girls that are going to enter your life, girls you'll like and girls that are going to like you. But you do have to be careful. Because people do like to take advantage.'

'But how did dad knew you weren't like that?'

'I don't know.' I shook my head. 'That's something only Ney can tell you. All I can tell you, is that you know how my relationship with his parents was like. They didn't like me. And not really approved of me...'

'They didn't even give you a chance.' Davi said, his expression changing into a sad one.

'Yeah, but that didn't change how I felt for your dad. Or how he felt for me. I didn't want his flashy things and I didn't want his status. I wanted his company. His joy. His laughter. Him as a person.' I smiled. 'Caro and Ney are not against you having a girlfriend, but they don't want you to be taken advantage of. Because you're their son. And they love you.'

'I really like her.' he said letting out a sigh.

'So tell them that. Tell them that you'll be careful. Try to set boundaries with her. Tell her. You either like me for who I am or for my family.'

'So I should tell her if she carries on talking about my dad I won't like her anymore?' he asked.

'Exactly.' I nodded my head. 'If the time comes, she'll get to meet your dad. If she's not the one, then you have nothing to worry about. There's going to be someone that's going to show up in your life and do everything right. Might not be now, or tomorrow, or in 2 years... but it will happen. You don't rush love.'

'Thank you.' he smiled. 'I'm really glad you're in my life.'

'I wouldn't have it any other way.'

'And I'm sorry that you and dad didn't work out.'

Don't cry. Don't cry.

'Thank you.' I smiled softly.

Our conversation was interrupted by a very familiar voice.

'Irina.' my head turned around to face a very joyful Pedri.

'Hey.' I gave him a warm smile.

'Is this your son I should've known about?' he laughed.

'He's not my son.' I chuckled, shaking my head. 'This is Davi. Neymar's son and my bestfriend.' I turned to face Davi, a smile spreading across his face.

Pedri's eyes widened in surprise, probably waiting for Neymar to pop up anytime now too.

'I'm Pedri.' he extended his hand towards the young boy.

'I know.' he smiled, shaking his hand. 'I'm a big fan.'

'You are?' I said surprised.

'Yes.' he looked at me with an are you serious expression. 'They call him Pedri Potter. He's magic on the field.' I laughed, catching a glimpse of Pedri's cheeks flashing red. 'How do you know Irina?' Davi turned towards Pedri with a serious look.

'She's my favourite employee.' he smiled softly, now my cheeks being the ones turning red.

'Well, she has a boyfriend.' he said sternly.

'She does?' 'I do?' me and Pedri asked at the same time.

'Yeah.' Davi nodded his head. 'You see that scary guy over there?' he turned his body around, all of us looking at Luca.

Luca who couldn't get the cash drawer to open, a frustrated look on his face. His hair was ruffled and I swear I could see a few drops of sweat on his forehead.

Oh yeah, so scary.

Luca's eyes moved from the cash drawer and to us, raising his hand to us, a massive smile across his face, greeting Pedri.

We all looked away, the look on Davi's face being priceless. His little act didn't work out and I swear I could see Davi mentally punching Luca.

'Well, there's a match today. Do you guys want to come?' Pedri asked with a smile. 'Irina's scary boyfriend can come too.'

'We'll be there.' Davi said nodding his head.

'I'll catch you guys later.' he looked at me before going to order his usual.

'I'm so excited.' Davi said with a serious look on his face, trying to pretend Pedri's invitation wasn't that big of a deal, but his tone gave him away.

'What was that all about?' I asked chuckling.

'He likes you.' he shook his head. 'You should've just told him I'm your son. Maybe that'll scare him away.'

'Davi.' I said bursting out laughing. 'Pedri is just a friend.' I shrugged my shoulders.

'You do realise he only comes here because he likes you, right?' he glanced at the footballer. 'Because who the hell orders croquettes with cappuccino?'

I couldn't help but start laughing even more at how judgemental he was about Pedri. He sounded just like Kylian and Luca.

'You have nothing to worry about.'

'It's not me I'm worried about.' Davi smiled. 'It's you.'

'Me?' I asked confused.

'Another footballer? Where did that get you?'

I stood up and planted a kiss on his head. 'You have no idea how much I love you.' I smiled. 'And I know you're very excited for that match. You don't have to lie to me.' I whispered in his ear, making him chuckle.
