(Y/N)'s pov:
i hopped off my skateboard and walked up the steps to school. i was still relatively early, but a few people had trickled in even in the 2 minutes i'd been there. my headphones blasted my favorite song in my ears and i tried to block out the rest of the world. i know that sounds cheesy, but it helps me stay calm. i was looking down at my phone and walking in to the main building when all of a sudden a pair of arms hugged me aggressively. i knew right away that it was my best friend token. i giggled and kicked the air as he picked me up.

token had been my best friend since forever and was like a brother to me. he is truly the best and i get angry at myself when i realize how little i show it. he was one of the only people that knew about all of my shit. i love him so much.

"hey long time no see (Y/N/n)!" he states as he put me down. i smile widely and give him a proper hug while really putting my heart into it.

"hey token!" i say quietly in return.

we step back and start talking. "how are you doing?" he asks. "oh, i'm fine!" i say with a fake smile. he gives me a knowing look and says "no really, with everything that happened this summer? i doubt that." he always knows the truth about me. my smile falters. "i'm okay i guess. not amazing, but not in the hospital anymore." he sighed and looked down. "yeah i get that i'm sorry. if there's anything i can do please tell me." i nodded and gave him a weak smile. "what do you have first?" he asks changing the subject. i look down at the schedule i printed last week and skimmed it. "chemistry. you?" "biology." "ew why would you take biology? that's the worst subject!" i say making a face and laughing. he rolls his eyes and simply states "do i have to remind you that you take chemistry AND physics?" "fair enough." i shot back with a smirk. "i'm gonna go to class, but i'll see you around. i love you and text me if you need anything." he says with care. "i love you too token."

He walks away and i turn back down to my schedule. it wasn't awful, but not structured as well as i had hoped.

most people had arrived at school by now and i got many waves and "hey (Y/N)!"'s from people. i simply waved back or said something generic. i recognized some of them, but most were random. i felt badly not knowing their names. i made a mental note to branch out more this year and make new friends along with the ones i already had. i walk into chemistry and take my seat next to nobody. i pull out all of my stuff and sit there with everything ready while i wait for people to file into the room.

my attention is grabbed from my phone when a tall blonde kid with an orange sweatshirt sits next to me.

do i know this kid?

i gave him a awkward smile while he smirked a bit maliciously at me. no one except for my friends usually sit next to me, so this is weird. this kid looks a bit familiar but i can't quite place him. he turns his body towards me and speaks.

"hey cutie."

i am unimpressed with his greeting but decide to engage since i would feel badly otherwise.

"hey." i simply said. a few seconds of silence passed between us when it grew too awkward for me and i asked him a question. "sorry, do i know you?"

"im kenny." he states. my thoughts collect and i realize that i've met this boy before. he's the one that tries to sleep with every girl in the school. quite possibly the world too.

"i'm-"

"i already know your name." he states bluntly while cutting me off. i frown a bit at the hint of rudeness and turn back to the front. he seems like an arrogant asshole if i'm being honest. he was relatively cute, but then again i'd never admit that. i'd only be fueling his ego and as far as i was concerned, he was higher than a kite on it.

he starts to say something but is cut off by the teacher introducing himself. i am relieved, but also a little interested on where this conversation would've gone if i had not been saved.

i completed the rest of the class without talking to kenny and escaping before he could get a word out to me. as i walked to physics, i was stopped by my other good friend wendy.

"hey wendy!" i said smiling.

"oh my god (Y/N) i've missed you so much! how are you?" she asked giving me a bear hug.

we chatted for a bit and caught up while making plans for next weekend. soon we realized we were both late to class. we quickly parted and i sprinted to physics that was on the other side of the school. when i arrived, i was out of breath and felt like a deer in the headlights at the doorway. there were only 6 people in the class since it was a hard one, but still all of them (including the teacher) had their eyes on me. "sorry." i quickly said and walked briskly into the room. the teacher rolled his eyes as i took a seat next to a random kid with a green hat and orange jacket.

who the hell wears a jacket inside?

Kyle's pov:
all of a sudden about two minutes into the lesson, (Y/N) showed up at the door panting as if she had just run a marathon. i started to panic.

i didn't know she was in this class. do i look okay? will she even notice me? oh god what if she talks to me?

"sorry." she said curtly and proceeded to make her way towards me.

what the fuck is she doing?

she sat herself next to me and glanced over.  i blushed and looked away from her back to the teacher.

i wonder what she thinks about me, if anything at all.
