(Y/N)'s pov:
walking briskly out of the cafeteria, i went up to butters who was at his locker. i asked him which direction kyle had gone, not even bothering to give a proper greeting since i was in a hurry.

"oh he went that way. just a fair warning he looked kind of angry."

"thanks butters." i said barely acknowledging him and ran down the hallway in search of him. after a couple minutes of desperately seeking, i finally spotted him. i practically ran to him and tried to get his attention.

"kyle, kyle!"

he ignored me. when i got there, i set my hand on his shoulder and tried to turn him around to face me.

"kyle why are you ignoring me?"

he brushed my hand off and continued to walk towards his locker not bothering to answer, or even acknowledge me. i became genuinely annoyed now.

"kyle broflovski stop being a little bitch and tell me what is up."

all of a sudden he threw down his hands, spun around, and yelled something i never would've expected.

"(Y/N) i love you! how is that not clear?"

the whole hallway had stopped to look at us at this outburst. i stood there in shock with my mouth gaping. we stared into each others eyes. i knew mine held surprise while his held pain and hurt.

"i'm in love with you." he said again a bit quieter. i just stared at him, my heart beating a million times faster than normal. his lip had started to quiver.

"that's why i'm so upset. when that- whatever - happened, it meant the world to me. i felt elated. like a dream had come true. but when i turned to you, you looked unfazed. like you regretted it even. like it meant absolutely nothing." his voice cracked when he said the last sentence and my heart broke.

"i am so in love with you it hurts."

a single tear fell down his freckled, red cheek. i was so overwhelmed i couldn't respond. taking my nonexistent response as a state of rejection, he shrugged, exasperated and briskly walked away.

"w-wait, kyle-"

i called, but he chose to ignore me and kept walking towards the entrance of the school to leave. i should've run after him, but i was frozen in place. he forcefully pushed the door open leaving it to slam after him and disappeared into the rain. everyone around was staring and a few were whispering. i looked down at the floor attempting to process what had just happened.

i love you too.

i stood there for a few moments going through everything. luckily, people had started to carry on with their days so i was left alone in the hallway while my face held confusion and sadness. i stood there for a solid 5 minutes engulfed in my own mind.

i love him too. why didn't i say it? god damn it (Y/N) you need to tell him!

i nodded to myself and took a deep breath. at that, i ran out of the door as fast as i could and started towards his house in the pouring rain.
