It's Monday and I can't believe what I'm about to say, but I'm excited for school. Main reason: Melanie. Sounds really cheesy but whatever, I couldn't get her out of my head after the kiss. I don't know if I was, or still am a bit pushy, because what if she doesn't like me? What if she just kissed me because she felt like she had to?

I push my thoughts aside and start getting dressed, I then walk downstairs saying a quick good morning to my mum, she seemed a bit taken back by my action simply because I haven't been speaking to her properly for the past two days because of the phone call she made with dad.

I headed out of the door as soon as I got a text from Michael telling me he's outside my house. I get into his car, greeting him with a wide grin and a cheerful hello.

"Dude, d'you get laid last night?" he looks at me weirdly and smiles, "What? No." I start laughing, "Can't a man be in a good mood?" I continue and he just shrugs it off with a smile still on his face, gluing his eyes onto the road.

After picking the boys up as well, we arrived into school like half an hour before our first period, which is cool for us because we usually kill time by going to the school canteen, listening to our joker (Johnny) or just throwing the ball about.

Since we've got like five minutes until the lesson starts we went into the locker corridor to grab some of the books we need. The boys take off to their lockers right at the start of the hallway and I'm left behind having to go right to the bottom of the hallway because that's where my locker is.

From the corner of my eye, I see this girl from behind. Nice body figure, long-brown-thick hair, black vest tucked into her light blue denim shorts and some black ankle vans. I skim her from her head to her feet. Is she new?

She then closes her locker and changes direction making me look into her face. Oh shit. That's Melanie. Wearing a black choker around her neck as well? Damn. I open my mouth from being surprised.

She walks past me, probably not seeing me, but I can't just leave it like that, I have to walk up to her. I immediately close my locker shut and turn around in her direction, running my hand through my hair quickly, "Melanie?" she abruptly turns around searching for the person who called her.

"Oh hi!" She walks closer to me, with a cute smile and her eyes beaming with joy.

I lose my words for a second and start blabbing, mumbling and stuttering all at the same time, "Uh you look good, wow" I scratch the back of my neck from shyness, Ugh come on dude, confidence. Confidence.

She shyly smiles and her cheeks start to blush into a very light pink colour making her look adorable, "Thank you" she giggles a bit and then politely thanks me, dropping her head to her chest as her hair falls into her face.

"New glasses, no headband huh?" I awkwardly say. oh god.

"Oh no, the headband's in my bag" she gives off a light laugh, "And yeah, I got some new glasses... So you won't be seeing me in them any more" she laughs again, "Going all modern now, no more old fashion glasses" she giggles to herself making me smile.

"They suit you, you look nice" I compliment her new "geeky/nerdy" glasses as people call them.

She adjusts her glasses in a joking way and scoffs, "So what's your next lesson?" she asks

"Oh um... Art, I believe?" I had to check my timetable there, she really does make me lose my mind sometimes, especially when she's dressed like that. "Yours?" I reply.

"I've got Geography and my teacher is a pain in the ass, so I better get going if I don't want to be late and get embarrassed in front of the whole class because of her out bursts"

"Yeah same, I'll see you after though, right?" See here's that confidence again.

"Mhm, well see you around" She dashes her white teeth at me when she smiles and then goes off to her lesson.

You think she dressed up for me because of what happened at her house on a Saturday? I think so. I smile to myself.

After school I go straight home, take a shower and get into some new clothes.

I know I'm an idiot for this but I'm on my way to Melanie's, if she asks I'm just going to say I'm there to study, when in reality I'm way past studying.

I get to her door and her mum opens up, enlightened to see me. She just tells me to go upstairs as if I was home.

When going up the stairs I can hear someone laughing in Melanie's room, she probably has one of her friends with her, as I get closer to the room the words start becoming clearer. Just as I'm about to knock on the closed door, I stop myself from doing so and continue to listen what they're talking about.

"Then he kissed me" I hear the two girls (I assume) squeal.

I shake my head in disbelief with a massive smile on my face, knowing she's talking about me. Or I hope she is. Without wanting to listen to the conversation any longer because it's rude, I knock on the door. Not that I heard much of it, just basically that one sentence but still.

I open the door and come into eye contact with the one and only Melanie and her friend, I guess. She has a hot friend, just saying. As soon as I entered, their faces looked really shocked to see me, I knew I shouldn't have came here.

Melanie starts to blush a bit and then opens her mouth, "Dylan?"

"DYLAN?!" Her friend repeats in much more shocked tone.

"Yeah that's me, hi" I casually say

Melanie's P.O.V

I got home from school and saw a familiar face in the kitchen with my mum, "What are you doing here?" I automatically spat out, not even realising I did that.

"Haven't seen each other in a while, how long? two and a half years was it?" she says in a nice-to-see-you-too tone, making me just role my eyes as I go the refrigerator to grab some water. Mum automatically leaves the room, thinking we should probably solve this on our own since we're all adults here. Well I am, she isn't.

"You didn't come to my birthday party so I thought I'd give you a visit by myself" She says in a nicer tone this time.

"Your birthday was like two months ago. Took you a while to get here" I didn't back away.

"Look, this is silly. We're cousins, you're my only girl cousin I have, I don't want to lose you-"

"Wow and you've just realised that now?" she sighs after listening to my comment. There's an awkward silent pause and I'm not planning on speaking to her first. "Mel, I know what I've done and I promise you I've changed, I'm a different person now. I'm much more mature and wise now, I've left everything behind me last year, everything including my so called friends, my old school, everything... Just give me another chance please?" She begged me.

"So you go like in a different school now? Hmm interesting" I say in a sarcastic voice licking my ice cream.

"I thought you were the smart one, now you're just acting like the younger me." She says in disappointment in her voice, taking me back a bit.

Maybe she has changed, who knows. I mean I wouldn't because I was being too stubborn to come and see how my only younger cousin is doing. I can't believe I actually done the opposite of what I am and I wouldn't have even known if it wasn't for her clearing it out for me right now.

"What school?" I quietly say

"Huh?"

"What school do you go to now?" I repeat myself.

"Merlin Hill High" Wow that's a really hard school to get into, one of the most sophisticated. Maybe she's really changed and tried to be a better person. "I'm sorry... For acting like a douche" I apologise and she just responds with 'it's okay, so am I' which makes me laugh a little. God I missed this girl.

We carried on talking and tried to update each other as much as possible until we ended up in my bedroom.

"Then he kissed me" I say making her squeal and clap from excitement, when suddenly someone knock on my door. Oh crap. I hope it's not my dad, he'd kill me if he heard what I just said.

When the door opens, I open my mouth as wide as it could get, taken by surprise at a standing Dylan in front of me. Speak of the devil.

I can feel my cheeks heating up since we just talked about him and I'm scared he might have heard us. Now I kinda wish it was dad, "Dylan?"

"DYLAN?!"

"Yeah that's me, hi" he replies so casually, with a weird smile on his face that I can't read, he probably just thinks he interrupted us or is here at the wrong time or something.

"Errm, Dylan this is my cousin Evelyn, Evelyn this is Dylan" I introduce them to each other, still taken back a bit.

They both reach their hands out to each other and shake their hands, "Eve" she gives him a light nod and blinks her eyes together as if trying to correct me.

"So... What are you doing here?" I ask to cut the awkwardness probably making it even more awkward than it already was. When he turns around to me, I can see Eve mouthing "he's hot" while pointing her index finger at him, making me silently laugh. He then averts his eyes from me and turns to her making her cross her arms in front of her instantly, trying to hide what she's just been doing.

I think he knows any ways because he's not dumb.
