Dylan's POV

I went straight past the living room into the kitchen to grab some food from the refrigerator. I grab some milk and some cereals from the cupboard since the refrigerator was empty. I sit down and start eating my cereals whilst my mom and dad are still agruing, my phone vibrates in my pocket so I check to see who the message is from.

Michael: Hey bro, wanna come down to my place? Parents ain't home so I thought about making a small private party

I send a quick 'on my way' text, put my jacket on and start heading out of the house again.

You see having parents that always argue about everything isn't a good thing. Some people like the boys think it is though. They say I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, but trust me I'd rather get told off for what I'm doing than be allowed to do everything and not speak to my parents... Well my dad.

The only reason I need a scholarship is because my dad won't pay for my college. Not that he hasn't got the money, he does, he's a lawyer, of course he's got a few thousands of dollars to spare, he just doesn't want to pay for the fees simply because he doesn't want me playing football and wants me to be a lawyer too.

He said, "you're either going to college to do law or not going to college at all". I mean, says everything about him already doesn't it?

I open the front door to Michael's house and welcome myself in. He's just like a brother that I don't have. I could hear the music playing from miles away, "I thought this was supposed to be a small private party" the words escape my mouth when I see Tasha talking to some random dude in the corner of the kitchen.

"Hey relax bro, she invited herself and brought some friends over too. Not my fault" Michael replied and shrugged it off.

I sigh and grab a cup of beer from the kitchen counter and walk out into the garden through the glass door. Damn, barbecue as well? Well, at least someone has food.

I greet Johnny, Josh and Alex with a quick nod as I'm walking up to them but I get pulled back by someone, I turn around to see that it's Tasha.

"What are you doing here?" she says in a flirty tone.

"Umm, better question is what are you doing here?" I ask.

"Well..." she starts off saying while playing with the ends of her blonde hair, "I heard Michael was throwing a little party and I had nothing better to do so I thought, well why not come" she replied without taking her eyes off of me, "and I wanted to see you" she admits and looks away because she starts blushing.

I always liked how honest she was, a smirk forms on my face as I start to chuckle a bit which I know she finds attractive. I become more relaxed all of a sudden, I don't know whether I still like her or not because it's been forever since we were actually together.

"See you afterwards?" she asks me in the flirty tone again biting her bottom lip this time.

"Maybe after a couple of drinks" I laugh off and shoot her a quick flirty wink, then I turn away from her to face Josh, Johnny and Alex who were behind me listening to everything while burning the burgers, because why would they pay attention to making food, when they have to pay attention to what I was doing with Tasha.

I look up and see their faces smile evilly and their thumps up in the air, I shake my head at them because I know exactly what they're thinking about.

A few hours later and a couple of drinks in, more than a couple to be honest, I see people slowly disappearing from the house. We do have school tomorrow so there's no surprise in that, but there's still a couple of us here, the closest people to us.

We played spin the bottle for a while and I'd rather not tell you about that part. We all fell asleep on the floor afterwards because it was early in the morning.

I roll over to see I was sleeping next to Tasha, so I quickly get up and go to the bathroom.

I wasn't sleeping, sleeping with her. I was just laying next to her... accidentally.

I brush my teeth with my toothbrush that I always keep here just in case of situations like this one, style my hair and walk out, everyone else is up as well. Gigi, Tasha's best friend is making us some coffee because we went to sleep at about four in the morning so we didn't have much sleep since it's 8.20am now.

"Thanks" I say when Gigi hands me a cup of coffee, "hey Michael, I'm gonna go to my place to change clothes, so pick me up afterwards yeah?... See ya everyone!" I shout from the living room as I'm walking out.

Our first period was boring, I slept through it. Second period was boring again, slept through that too, lunch was fun though, at one point Tasha came up to me and said that last night was great. I was really confused because I don't remember anything happening between us, but I shrugged that off too and carried on with my lunch break. Last period wasn't so boring because I had it with Michael and it's always fun to have Michael around.

After school Michael dropped me off home and I went to sleep, thankfully it was quiet, until my dad came home from work at around 6pm and woke me up.

Good thing he did though because I almost forgot about our bet with Madison, I quickly get out of bed, put on a shirt and leave the house.

I get to Maggie's house and knock on the door twice. The door opens revealing her mother in a dressing gown, she gasps when she see's me and opens the door wider waiting for me to come inside, "Oh Dylan, lovely to see you again" she squeals in excitement and just as I'm about to greet her back she cuts me off "I'll go and get Melanie for you really quickly" she says in a hurry and runs upstairs to get her daughter.

Melanie comes downstairs in her pyjamas, with that headband she was wearing in her hair again and her glasses on. She takes them off when she see's me.

"I guess I'll be going to prom without you" I say because she lost her bet, she just shakes her head at me and lets me inside the house.

"I didn't know you wore glasses" I mention when she closes the door to her bedroom.

"Well it's not like we've ever been friends-" she cuts herself off when she realises how harsh she sounded, "I only need them when I'm reading for too long" she says as she puts her books to one side.

My eyes widen, "you read all of that just now??" I ask in shock and she starts giggling, "I read these two just now" she answers, then shows me the books. They're definitely about 350 pages each.

"I'm a fast reader." she mentions.

Her mother comes in to ask if we need something "do you guys want a drink or anything?", Melanie looks at me to get an answer, "water would we good, thanks" I say to Mrs Rivers.

"Make that two!" Melanie shouts out as her mother is closing the door.

I sit down on her bed waiting for her to get ready and in she comes strolling along a massive white board with white board pens stuck to it and a cloth hanging from the right top corner.

I can't help but think, why on Earth does she have this at home?

"Okay, so I'll start you off easy," she starts, "Thank God you know how to add and subtract fractions, otherwise I would have been very, very worried." She truthfully says.

It's weird because seeing her pass me through the hallways or even when she's sitting in front of the class, she's invisible, very quiet. But then I actually speak to her and she's brutally blunt, something doesn't add up here. It's something I wouldn't have expected from someone like her.

She breathes out in relief, "So let's see if you know how to do variables and expressions."

I blink a few times, "I'm sorry, what?"

"Algebra." she states and a 'Oh' to myself.

She then starts writing some equations on the white board and explains them as she goes along. We studied for about an hour and a half and I got bored of it very easily. To be honest, I got bored the moment she took out that white board.

"Thanks for everything by the way." I sincerely say.

"You're most definitely welcome" she smiles back at me.

"Don't think I forgot about the ice cream you promised me though." I change subject.

"I know a place, we can go now if you want?" she asks and stands up from her sitting position, so I do the same.

I follow her down the stairs and out. She takes me to a massive park with green grass everywhere and a huge lake in the middle, very clean, even the air smells differently, more fresh I suppose.

"Are you kidding me? This was the place I always went to when I was a kid" I tell her.

"Yeah me too...well I still do" she giggles to herself

We go to the ice cream van to get some ice cream, "A regular chocolate ice cream for me please" I tell the ice cream man, "me too" she says as well and then looks at me weirdly.

"I don't like vanilla" I say, "Oh my God me too" she tells me a little too loudly. This girl can really raise her voice when she wants to.

"TWINSIES!" she shouts and extends her pinky finger to me, waiting for me to wrap my own pinky finger around hers.

I glare, "Don't do that. Ever. Please."

She laughs and I pay for the ice creams, even though she should be the one paying since she's the one who lost the bet.

"See that's where I usually study if it's not at home," she points to a very big old tree, so we sit under it and I ask a load of questions again. I have a problem staying quiet.

"So why do your parents freak out like that when they see me at your door? You've never brought a guy home before?"

"Nope I never did so yeah that's probably why they're freaking out so much" she says as she's looking at her ice cream because it's slowly melting.

"Wait. What? You've never had a boyfriend?" I ask again, I mean sure she's a nerd but she's a pretty nice girl.

"Nooo! I mean yes, I had a boyfriend I just didn't bring him home" she explains.

"How come? Was it a short term relationship? Friends with benefits type of thing?"

"What? No! But yeah, you can say that it was short"

"How short?" I start being a little nosey.

"Erm about 5 months" she guesses.

"Wow, kinda long for me, why did you never take him home?"

"Because he just wasn't the most," she tries to find the right word to describe her ex, "...sensible guy ever"

"Oh so a fuckboy? Player? Prick?" I clear out

"Yeah, all those things basically, I just put it into a nicer format. So now about you, you ever had a girlfriend?" She adds on and I squint my eyes at her, pulling the 'really bitch?' look.

"I mean, not that I don't know you dated like almost half of the school but you know, just thought I'd ask so I don't seem rude" Well isn't she just savage.

"Well depends on what we classify as girlfriends or boyfriends right?" I chortle and my phone starts vibrating so I take it out of my pocket to check.

Dad: Your mom is in hospital. Come now.

"I have to go Melanie, I'm so sorry, are you okay to go home on your own?" I quickly ask her and apologize, she just nods, not having a clue about what's going on, "I'm really sorry I need to go, see ya" I say and start running off.
