Once your eyes met with his, you knew you were in serious trouble.

"K-Kuroo, I-I'm sorry I didn't mean what I said I was just, uh..."

You trail off, hoping Kuroo wouldn't catch on to what you were about to say. Unfortunately for you, he does.

"Just what, Y/N?" he asks as his eyes continue to narrow in suspicion.

"Nothing."

Unsatisfied with your answer, Kuroo drags you down the hallway.

"Can't you just leave me alone?" you groan as you try to pry his fingers off of your arm, "I said I'm sorry! Kuroo!!"

"Y/N it doesn't look like nothing's wrong to me," he eventually admits as he continues dragging you down the hall, forcing you to run a bit to keep up with his speed, "and I'm pretty sure I promised Ritsuko that I'd watch out for you on your first day."

You internally curse out Ritsuko ask Kuroo mentions her name, ignoring the fact that he actually used her name without hesitation which normally would have caught your attention more.

Eventually, Kuroo stops at a lounge area within the dorm building. You watch as he sits down and waits for you to do the same. Rolling your eyes, you reluctantly take the seat beside him.

"You're not going to leave me alone, right?"

"Not until you tell me what's going on."

You sit in silence for a minute contemplating if, and more importantly how, you are going to explain everything to him.

"What's up with you and Kenma?"

His sudden statement making you reflexively gasp and look up at him. Big mistake. Now Kuroo's got your attention and you've let slip the main part of what your problem is.

"Bullseye," he remarks as a faint smirk grazes over his face.

You groan and find yourself looking back down at the floor.

"I thought the two of you were getting along well," Kuroo eventually remarks.

"Haven't I told you enough times that nothing is going on between me and Kenma?" you snap.

"Well if that was true we wouldn't be here now would we?"

Kuroo was right. You knew that you were only delaying the inevitable conversation and that he was going to get the answers he wanted out of you, no matter what.

"Can you just leave me alone about-"

"Are you being honest with yourself Y/N?" Kuroo asks, cutting you off, "With your own feelings about him?"

You feel your body freeze as his words hit you like a truck.

"I don't think it matters anymore..."

Your eyes begin to swell up as you think of the previous scene where you met Kenma and Shiro in the hall. You also can't help but think about everything in the past that led up to the point where you believed Kenma didn't want to be with you.

"Why not?" Kuroo asks calmly.

"He's... always with Shiro..."

Continuing to look away from Kuroo, you let your tears begin to silently fall down your face.

"Eh? Who the hell is Shiro?"

"My roommate," you say as you turn to look at Kuroo, "b-but it's not a big deal they're just friends and I don't want to ruin that for him!" you defend.

"So? I don't care who she is, if he's ignoring you for some reason I've got to talk to him about it because he's got no reason to do that to you. Besides, I don't even know who the fuck Shiro is and he's letting the damn girl into our room!"

Kuroo stands up and begins walking down the hallway in a huff to get to Kenma. You chase after him, protesting until you finally catch up.

You grab onto Kuroo's arm this time and pull him around to face you. Instantly letting your face hit his chest, you pull him into your embrace.

Once Kuroo realizes what's going on, he hugs back.

"It'll be alright, Y/N," he soothes as he pets your hair.

"Thank you," you mutter as you bury your face into him, doing your best to hold in your tears.

"What would I do without you, Kuroo," you let out a small chuckle.

"I dunno but I could say the same thing to you. You did save my life, ya know."

The two of you pull back from the hug, taking in each other's smiles for a moment before you break the moment.

"Um, could you show me where the girls' room is?"

"Jesus you're such a little kid," Kuroo teases, "come on let's go."

Kuroo grabs your arm and escorts you to the girls' room. Once he drops you off, he lets you know that he's going to have a talk with Kenma and to wish him luck.

Once you do, he takes his leave. You watch him disappear around the corner before turning to the bathroom.

When you get back to Kai's room, his eyes instantly take in your state. Eyes still red and puffy, you nod as you walk over to him.

Kai shoots up from where he was sitting, coming over to you and hugging you.

"What happened?"

"N-Nothing, I just ran into Kuroo and talked about some things."

Kai gets the hint and decides to drop the subject.

"Do you want me to walk you back to your room?"

You nod and thank Kai for his kindness. After grabbing your belongings, you and Kai both make your way out of his dorm.

Once you reach the outside of your building, Kai asks if there's anything he can do for you.

"I'll be alright," you smile, "but seriously thanks for your help and I had fun today."

You continue to thank Kai for his help and for being there to talk to. Kai tells you that he'll always be here for you and gives you a big hug.

"I'm so glad I didn't ruin things with you," you whisper into his shoulder.

"You could never ruin it, Y/N," he whispers back, "I'll always love being your friend."
