She opened the cab door and gazed upon the scene that unfolded before her. The line for the club was long, to say the least. Scarlett's eyes fell upon the neon sign that flashed above them, the name Prism, clashed against the dark backdrop of the brick building. It wasn't the best club in the city but, the drinks were cheap and the music was good.

They were two out of three the things that she needed tonight.

"Scar, are you coming? The line's super long!"

Scarlett watched as Penelope rushed past her, her heels clicked against the pavement of the sidewalk. Scarlett knew that Penelope had already given the taxi driver a twenty dollar bill, therefore, she slammed the door shut behind her.

She scanned the line thinking of where she could cut in.

Only a few minutes later, Scarlett found herself and Penelope standing with a group of young men. There was an emphasis on the young since they were only twenty-one and five years her juniors.

All Scarlett had to do was whisper sweet nothings into their ears and flip her hair over her shoulder; it wasn't long before the one with the muddy brown hair had become smitten, boasting about the bottle service that they had inside the club and the penthouse they had rented in Manhattan.

She didn't care for either of that.

All she cared about was getting inside.

As they reached the front of the line, Scarlett handed her driver's license to the bouncer. He was a tall man, standing at nearly six foot six as he towered over her and Penelope. He hadn't even bothered to glance at her age, instead, he gazed her up and down, licked his lips and pushed the velvet rope aside.

She heard Penelope giggle and Scarlett smirked herself. She looked back as she walked in, noticing that the bouncer had stopped the group of guys that was standing with them. She winked at them and waved her hand in the air as a goodbye.

"See you later, losers!" she exclaimed as she disappeared inside the building.

Scarlett entered into the main room of the club; it was divided into two rooms, with the smaller pertaining to more exclusive guests. Instantly, she was greeted with pulsating music, navy lights flashed left and right as people ground their bodies against each other to the music.

Without a second to spare, she grabbed Penelope by the hand and guided her through the crowd of people, heading straight towards the bar that was located on the far right side of the club. Upon reaching, she slammed her right hand against the bar top hoping to get the attention of the bartender.

"It's crazy in here, definitely more packed than it was two weeks ago," Penelope shouted over the music, her eyes continuing to scan the mass of people.

A smile of content danced on Scarlett's lips, "It's just the way I like it."

"What can I get you two?"

Whipping her head around, Scarlett turned her attention to the bartender. He could've been attractive if it wasn't for the upright turn of his nose. Biting on her lip and crossing him off her list already, Scarlett leaned in and began to order their drinks.

"Two Grey Goose shots please, and two more after that," she instructed as her once content smile formed into a flirtatious one.

The bartender grinned in response, "You got it, babe."

Suddenly, Scarlett felt Penelope grip her forearm and she drew her eyes away from the bartender that begun to walk away. She wanted to exhale a sigh of annoyance but kept it in, instead, she glanced at Penelope and raised her eyebrow in curiosity.

"I see him..." Penelope's voice trailed off, her right hand tugged on her soot grey skirt, pulling it down to go past her knees.

"See who?" Scarlett bellowed back, trying to ensure that she was heard over the music.

Penelope fixated her eyes on Scarlett, a whirl of emotions flashing through, "My ex, I see David."

As soon as the words registered in Scarlett's mind, she knew what this meant. She could feel the irritation building but, she brushed it aside. She knew that her night was not going to go the way she wanted it too now, especially that Penelope saw her ex.

David Patterson had been Penelope's on and off again boyfriend for the past two years. The only reason he was off was that he would constantly cheat on Penelope. He would get back with her, a few months would go by and he was back to his ways.

Whatever pity Scarlett should've felt for Penelope wasn't there.

Only because, Penelope did this to herself.

"Do you think I should go to talk to him?" Penelope nervously asked, her fingers running through her hair as she tried to smoothen it out.

Scarlett wanted to shake her head saying no but did the opposite, "It's your choice."

She tore her eyes away from Penelope who was now checking her lipstick in the compact she brought with her and began to scan the crowd.

In a mere second, her eyes latched onto a pair of chocolate brown ones.

He was standing across the room, his back slightly leaned against the wall. His dark hair had been pushed back and he had a drink in his hand. Scarlett's eyes traced over his sharp jawline and then over his perfectly angled nose. His features were that of a god. She bit her lip and could feel herself becoming enthralled.

Despite all of that, all it took was for his piercing stare and Scarlett knew that was what she wanted.

"What do you think I should do?"

Scarlett turned around towards the bar and grabbed the shot glass. In an instant, she drowned the liquid and almost welcomed the burning sensation that ran straight to her stomach. She quickly gazed at herself in the mirror that was placed behind the shelf that held numerous liquor bottles.

She fluffed up her curls and ran her tongue over her lips before she bit the bottom one, adding more of a pout then she needed.

Taking a deep breath, she glanced over at Penelope, "Go for what you want, because, I definitely am."

And with that, Scarlett sauntered her way over to the stranger.
