After the War

"What do you mean?" Y/N asked Naruto, who was sitting across from her humming to himself. He had just told her something that had made her frown.

"I said I feel guilty accepting her date." Naruto said frowning, his eyes trained on his fingers. His hands were wringing around each other, stress and worry in his eyes. Y/N frowned as she reached over, grasping his cheeks gently. He looked up and peered into her eyes, a gentleness seeping between them.

"One day you won't. It will get easier." Y/N murmured, her fingers reaching up to curl around his ears. She leaned back against the tree, her back fully against the rough bark. Naruto sighed and leaned back down until her back was flat on the ground.

"It's easy for you and Sasuke." Naruto frowned. "Hinata has always been very kind to me." Naruto looked up at the clouds, a frown prominent on his features. "Sakura doesn't deserve this either. Neither do you."

"Naruto, we will be fine. They will be fine in the end." Y/N fixed him with a glare. "Don't back up on me now Naru-chan." Y/N cooed gently, making him blush. He shook his head to clear his thoughts.

"I just wished there was another way we could be happy, without hurting anyone." Naruto frowned. "I'm not smart like you or Sasuke. What if we got caught because of me?"

"You'll do fine." Y/N smiled. "I know you care about her Naru-chan, but she will be okay." Y/N shrugged. "After all, you both get what you want. She gets to marry her hero, and you get to have me when you're not with your family." Y/N said simply, playing with her own nails now.

"Is that really what you want?" Naruto hummed lightly. "To be a toy, someone we only see on the side?" Naruto frowned. "That doesn't sound very fair to you. Who will you be with?" Naruto wondered.

Y/N paused to think, a frown on her lips now. "I don't want anyone but you and Sasuke." She said simply. "I'll be fine on my own. I made it this far." Y/N shrugged. Naruto opened an eye and peeked at her.

"Y/N-Chan-!"

"She said she's fine dobe." Sasuke appeared from behind the tree, his eyes dark. She smiled up at him.

"If it isn't the vampire." She teased as he leaned down and poked her forehead tenderly. "I see you missed us." Sasuke sat down beside her, leaning his back against the tree.

"Sakura wouldn't leave me alone." He murmured while leaning his head against the top of Y/N's head. He rubbed his cheek against her head.

"Hinata's been the same lately." Naruto smiled a forced smile. Y/N and Sasuke shared a look, understanding his plight.

"Dobe, just try not to think about it. Everything will work out. This is new to both of us." Sasuke said as he held Y/N's hand. She closed her eyes, feeling the wind blow past her face.

"Okay." Naruto shrugged. He ignored the hand outstretched to him, pouting. Sasuke rolled his eyes and slugged him in the stomach. "Ow Teme!"

"Don't be a coward now, baka." Sasuke smirked. He then leaned back and threw an arm around Y/N's shoulder, pulling her close. "Why are you guys out here, it's too cold." Sasuke shrugged. "Let's go make a fire."

"Naruto and I wanted to take a walk to try to wake up more." Y/N yawned. Sasuke looked to Naruto with a frown. He nodded to Sasuke.

"She's been having those nightmares again." Naruto sighed. "She was up all night." He confirmed this with Sasuke. Y/N had been having night terrors on and off during the months after the war. She could never explain them well, but they always left her shaken and barely a remembrance.

"Did you take the medicine I gave you?" Sasuke asked her, ruffling her hair with his free hand. She shook her head.

"It makes me feel like a zombie." She frowned. "I can't be myself." Sasuke sighed. He had found a merchant on his travels and gave her new medication. This was the third time they tried a different medication and neither would work. Sasuke grasped her cheeks and forced her to look him in the eyes. If he wasn't such a good judge of character, he would never see through her glossy eyes and bright smile.

"You're not sleeping." His thumb stroked her cheeks gently, making her smile. "When's the last time you slept through the night?"

"She was up screaming all night." Naruto frowned. "She would sleep for maybe two hours at a time."

"I'm not a baby." Y/N frowned. "I'm fine guys. I'm sure I'll get out of it." Y/N smiled, but blushed when Sasuke kissed her forehead.

"Dobe are you holding her while she sleeps?" Sasuke looked at Naruto irritated. "Sometimes that works." He fretted over the girl, licking his thumb and wiping away at the makeup under her eyes. He frowned at the dark circles beginning to seem through, making her squeal and fight.

"Of course I am, but I can't for long. Sakura barged in twice and almost caught us." Naruto rolled his eyes as Y/N bucked and whined under Sasuke's grip. Sasuke pinned her down, both of her wrists in his strong hands.

"She did the same at my place." Sasuke rolled his eyes as he had a very tiny apartment. He never gave Sakura the code but somehow she always lets herself in.

"I'm fine during the day now, I just don't know how to stop the bad feelings in my dreams." Y/N said sheepishly as Sasuke straddled her. She felt a warmth surround her from his body heat. Naruto leaned over and rested his head on her chest.

"Your heartbeat is really calm." Naruto murmured. "Out of all the songs I've ever heard, It's one of the best." Naruto smiled at her. Sasuke smirked lightly, releasing her wrist to rub a lock of hair behind her ears.

"As long as your heart beats like that, we'll be okay." Sasuke confirmed, his other hand reaching down to place itself on Naruto's chest. He could feel the heartbeats in sync, his eyes widening. Y/N smiled lightly.

"What's wrong Sasuke? Are they the same?" She smiled so brightly. Sasuke gulped and nodded, amazed at the phenomenon. She reached forward and placed her hand on his chest. Her hand slipped inside his shirt and gently rubbed where his heart was, making his face soften. "When you're close to the person you love, it's only natural that the heart beats in sync." Y/N smiled as Naruto nodded in agreement.

"Y/N-Chan told me that when I was a kid." Naruto grinned, watching the amazed look on Sasuke's face. Sasuke was shocked that the heart could do that, all three of them beating as close as possible to sync together.

"My momma told me that." Y/N looked at Naruto and kissed his forehead, the boy smiled back as a sudden strength filled him. "As long as we have each other, we'll be okay." Y/N promised both of them, making Sasuke nod.

Naruto thought for a second, but agreed that they were both right. "Your right." Naruto held Sasuke's hand that was on his chest, squeezing it tightly.

1 year later, Naruto's Wedding Day

Y/N looked around lonely, an unfortunate air on her face. Today was the day when she officially will give Naruto away. Tomorrow, minus Naruto and Hinata her friends would be helping her move into her new home. The three of them had saved for months to secure a downpayment on the gorgeous, bilevel home. It was luxurious, complete with a finished basement and 3 bedrooms. It was too big for her, but Sasuke had picked it out with the hopes that she would eventually admit that she wanted kids.

Y/n smirked at the thought. It was a beautiful home all for her, and the boys could visit all the time. She frowned at the thought of not being able to always wake up to Naruto being there. However Hinata and him definitely needed the space. Y/N smiled, knowing Naruto had a baby on the way. It was so cute.

"Y/N-Chan!" Y/N smirked as she heard the voice of her friend Tenten. She looked behind her to see Tenten clutching Ino and Sakura's arms. "You look great!" Tenten exploded and hugged Y/N tight. Y/N nodded, her hair running down her back to her waist as she shakes her head.

"Y/n-Chan, did you see what Sasuke-kun wrote to me?" Sakura squealed, lifting up a letter. Y/N politely smiled and leaned over to see the Congratulations letter. It only said congratulations. Y/N rolled her eyes but froze when Sakura frowned. "What's wrong?"

"I'm just thinking he could have put more effort into it. It is your birthday after all." Y/N smirked. Sakura smiled gently.

"Y/N-Chan, you're supposed to be Sasuke's best friend. You know very well he's a man of few words." Sakura shook her head at Y/N. "Let's compare letters, what did he write you on your birthday?"

Y/N fought to keep her mouth straight. "He didn't, he's an idiot." Y/N lied. "Naruto took me to the hot springs and we had a girls party. He was out of town." Y/N shrugged. "He didn't even know how old I was." Sakura smiled, seeming almost relieved. Ino looked at her in shock.

"Sasuke-kun is a jerk. Or maybe Y/N-Chan is lying." Ino teased lightly. Y/N shook her head with a giggle.

"Aren't all guys jerks?" She smirked at Ino, who shrugged with a red beat face.

"Well not Sai." She smiled. Sakura and Y/N laughed together.

"Sasuke-kun told me the other night you were getting better." Sakura smiled. "Your nightmares are getting further and further apart?" Sakura questioned quietly, trying not to get the other girls in the conversation. Y/N nodded gently.

"I'm fine Sakura." Y/N shrugged. Sakura leaned forward and felt her forehead, then took her away. Y/N had been restless the past couple of nights, but hadn't fully been sick. Sakura however stayed clear away from the drinks, Y/N noticed over the night, making Sakura blush.

"Do you have anything to tell me baka?" Y/N asked while whispering in her ear. The two girls were watching the ceremony, watching Naruto bless his heart to Hinata. Y/N tried not to watch, feeling the tears come.

"I'm pregnant." Sakura said simply. Y/N's jaw dropped just as the crowd roared, everyone standing up including Sakura to explode in shock. Y/N blinked and stayed silent, Sakura looked at her in shock as everyone continued to scream and yell their congratulations.

Sasuke never told me about this. Y/N thought to herself with narrowed eyes as she stared down at her lap. She had no idea that Sasuke had taken it a step farther. She couldn't blame him, he did frequently tell her he wanted children. "That's great Sakura." Y/N looked up with a warm smile. "I hope it's a cute little boy." Y/N grinned excitedly as Sakura nodded and held her hand.

"Thank you, Y/N-Chan." Sakura hummed, placing a hand on her stomach.

The after party

Y/N walked the party by herself, a smile on her face. Sasuke had promised to come see her, and she had dressed her best. Naruto was around as well, sitting beside his wife as they cut the cake. Y/N grinned happily and slid into her group of friends, immediately receiving cat calls as she strode by. "Damn sexy!" Ino whistled at her as she turned and placed a hand on her hip sassily.

"Ino-Chan." Y/N smirked as Ino looked her up and down. The girls were all whistling at her, including Sakura who was excited to see her.

"Damn Y/N-Chan, you look like you're impressing a man." Sakura whistled at her up and down. Y/N cackled.

"As if I have to try." She smirked as all the ladies started smacking their staring men. Sakura giggled.

"Did you see my Sasuke-kun yet?" Sakura said cockily, a hint of green in her eyes. Y/N shook her head.

"No Sakura." Y/N said albeit a little iffy. She blinked her long eyelashes at the crowd, not stopping in her steps. "I'm sure he'll find me."

"I bet he will." Sakura huffed lightly. "Sasuke-kun is always spending time with you." Sakura said lightly as the two of them stopped at the bar. Y/N shrugged.

"Sakura, I'm really not beat for this petty stuff. Sasuke is my childhood friend." Y/N huffed as she lifted a glass to her lips. Sakura nodded, but shrugged.

"I got that Y/N-Chan, and we agreed to a truce. However you weren't single then, you were with Naruto." Sakura huffed. "It's not proper to always be alone with my soon to be husband."

Y/N drank her drink silently, trying to think of a proper response that wouldn't get her in trouble. It was then that a shadowy figure approached, his chin fitting on top of Y/N's head perfectly. He had a protective arm around her waist, and his dark eyes were fixed on Sakura.

"Does Sasuke-kun know?" Y/N smiled as Sasuke hugged her from behind her right in front of Sasuke. All traces of jealousy were gone from Sakura's eyes, instead an innocent beam came from within her.

"Sasuke-kun, I told Y/N-Chan about the baby first." Sakura squealed as Sasuke stood away from Y/N, keeping a respectable baby. "Y/N-Chan is too lonely, we were just talking about finding a man for her." Sakura smiled a tight but taunt smile.

Sasuke looked down at Y/N with his dark eyes. "She doesn't need a man to be happy." He said simply. Y/N smirked with a nod at Sakura.

"Exactly, why would I want to be as unhappy and bitter as you guys." Y/N shrugged and turned and left, her heels clacking against the floor as she strode away. "Congratulations on the baby." She said lightly, her own face now a face of pure annoyance. Sasuke looked at Sakura with a shake of his head, Sakura now feeling guilty.

"I'm sorry Sasuke-kun, I was being nice I promise." She whined and followed after him as he left her side. Y/N walked off to the guest floor, her eyes wandering around the room to see more familiars.

"Ahem." Y/N turned around and her eyes widened in shock.

"Mother!" She cried out excitedly, her feet clackering against the floor as she hurried to her mother. Y/N's family lived out of the village, having rarely been in her life as a child. As an adult, one of the saviors of the ninja world, her family had learned of her accomplishments and had monitored from age 14 and up. Y/N frowned before she could hug her mother.

Her mother was looking at her with a look of distaste on her face. She was looking her up and down, a disappointed look on her face. Her brother stood behind her, an apologetic look on his face. "This is supposed to be your wedding." Her mother looked over to see Naruto feeding Hinata, nothing but happiness on both of their faces. "You've been with that boy since the age of 4, and you just let him go?" Her mother looked so disappointed, making Y/N shift uncomfortably.

"Momma, I can't have everything I want." Y/N said with shakily hands, her head bowed in sorrow. "It just didn't work out. Naruto-kun and I are very good friends."

Her mother sat her down at the nearest table, sitting down next to her with a grim face. "Unacceptable. Marrying the true savior of the ninja world was supposed to be your destiny." Her mother looked her up and down. "It is only proper etiquette to not look better then the bride." Her mother shook her head, making Y/N frown as her mother prodded her cheeks.

"I'm sorry momma." Mother Miyu clasped her cheeks as she gazed into her daughter's eyes closely. "I didn't mean to disappoint you." She added softly, as her mother leaned in.

"You knew how important it was to marry the symbol of hope." Her mother shook her head and released the shaken girl. "What have you been doing in your time to find another?"

"Mommy, I'm not ready to find a husband." Her brother was entirely quiet, his head tilted towards the table. He was already used to the treatment from her mother. He looked very similar to her, the two of them sharing hair color and similar face structure. He was a teenager like her, the two of them 17 and 18 respectively, with Y/N being the older sister.

"Mom, she's not ready. She said so herself." The brother sighed, but Mother Miyu was extremely upset with the girl. Y/N frowned, her excitement at finally seeing her family was quelled out.

"This is why you were the orphan." Her mother angrily spewed at Y/N as she turned and left, her brother flashing her a small smile before he turned on his heels. Y/N blinked twice, feeling her entire body start to droop in on itself. Her small shoulders rounded in as she forced her tears back.

She ignored the pitiful look of her friends that had been sitting nearby. Of Sasuke who was wondering why she was walking through the party by herself all lonely. She forced her tears away so she can focus on calming her breathing. She tried not to let anyone see her sadness, and even shrugged Sasuke off when he tried to hug her. Sakura tried to greet her as well, but Y/N had just sauntered off alone, feelings of that of a failure.
