"Listen carefully and take every word I say to heart because the information I am going to share with you will take you years to acquire by yourselves. Lesson number 1: Just what are you capable of exactly? For now, I'm just going to tell you the most basic form of your abilities, the possibilities and limitations will unravel themselves in the future. Please do surprise me. Charles, your fast-twitch muscles have an exceptional capacity to contract explosively, leading to outbursts of immense strength."

A small spark started to light up in Charles's eyes as he stared down at his hands. It was terribly difficult to believe the words coming out of the professor's mouth, but he felt an unexplainable sense of peace. As if a tight knot in his mind had just been released, a question that had troubled him for his whole life had finally received an answer, the only question was if it was the right one.

"Next, Katie! Your abilities are pretty peculiar. You are able to establish connections with others with the ne... nevermind, that's a lesson for a later time. Let's just say your gift works almost specifically only with others with special abilities. With enough practice, you'll be able to read as well as communicate with their minds."

Katie simply nodded along as Ned started to feel his legs tremble in his seat. "That means... she can read my thoughts too?!" He turned to face her, and she simply returned a warm smile.

"And Ned. Well, well, all I can tell you is that your mind has phenomenal 'processing power', and what that can achieve... It's up to you to push the limits"

Well, that didn't reveal much. Ned thought as he stared blankly at the professor.

A silence once again encapsulated the room as each individual sombrely reflected upon the fact that their lives would never be the same again...

"I know this is all hard to take in at first, but as we go along, you'll realise everything I've said is true." Professor Lewin said as he prepared his laptop, lighting up the screen with a presentation.

There it was. Their training plan for the next two months.

Charles was handed a manuscript with dozens of stretching routines and an electrostatic pen that stimulated nerve impulses in his body. As Professor Lewin explained, the pen helped develop a sense of proprioception, more specifically - an awareness of the muscles being activated as well as controlling the effort being employed in movement and hence - the strength output. While the stretches were acting according to the principle of: the more relaxed and agile the body is, the more explosive the contraction.

Katie's task was very straightforward. She simply needed to spend an hour a day with either Charles or Ned, with no form of verbal or physical communication other than her 'outreach'.

          Hallelujah, thought Ned.

Finally, it came to Ned, who might have been faced with the most gruesome challenge yet. To improve his brain capacity, he had to meditate for just 10 minutes a day; and remove any forms of distraction - a huge part of it being technology. No smartphones, computers or television. Plus, he was supposed to be able to finish all the previous exercises given by Professor Lewin by the end of two months (without blacking out).

After hearing his training tasks, Ned broke out in an outcry.

"That's ridiculous! What's that supposed to do?! No internet at all? I need it for school! To keep in contact with people. And I've spent way too much time on my games to just abdandonn them, I just need to check in for 5 minutes every day! You're just messing with me aren't you? I knew you had a problem with me." Ned immediately regretted spitting out the last point in his rage but nevertheless thought he was making a valid point.

"Never would I have imagined the day would come where I would be the one lecturing you," the professor thought to himself.

"Stop acting like a kid. Fine, Let's go through the things you just mentioned, you don't need the internet for information, use your own damn super brain to figure it out. your chat log shows no direct contact with anyone except the group chats you don't respond to.  And your game? The statistics show that you spend about 10 hours on them each week. Need I say more? The only problem here is your lack of rational thinking. Those things only impede your brain functions. You need this, for the focus and clarity of your mind."

Ned stood at his spot, completely defeated. What the hell? Did he hack into my phone?

Before Ned could fumble together a response, Prof. Lewin continued with a sudden change to a pained expression,

"I know at this point you may still be thinking, 'why the hell should I follow this routine or whatever this guy is saying?'. But like I said before. Your very lives depend on this.

I believe I have yet to finish my introduction. Yes, I have powers like you too. I'm from the future and you'd better believe that I wouldn't be here unless I absolutely had to. This is abrupt but I'll be gone for the next 2 months doing my training too and making preparations for what's to come, and I hope by then, you'll be prepared too. I know you are all filled with questions and doubts, but I need your trust. You are not ready in any way to learn the truth. I have my trust in you guys that you can complete the training by yourselves and that deep in your hearts, you know that going this path will lead you to be who you were meant to be."

Without blinking an eye, the professor swiped his hand over his laptop and moved over to Ned who had his phone on the table. The professor swiped his hand over that device too and exited the room without saying a word.

          Blink...Blink...Blink...

A mysterious cuboid device had been attached to the laptop and the phone, blinking blue and then turning red. *Zap* Sparks shot around both electronic devices as the students jumped out of their seats. The electronic devices had all been burnt to a crisp.

"FUUUUUUUUUUCK" yelled Ned as he raced out into the corridor, chasing after the professor.

          But he had vanished.
