Myles Thomas

"Excuse me." Monet growled, pushing past me to get to the fridge. This was the attitude she had ever since everything went down last night. Although I was pissed drunk at the time, the thought of the whole night replayed in my head. The security was not only breaking up the fight but throwing everyone out the club. I saw Monet standing on the stairs, surveying the situation; Dejounte's arms were around her and jealousy took over me. I grabbed Monet, throwing her over my shoulder. Not only because I didn't want to leave her behind, but because I didn't want to see her with him for any longer.

Now she had this attitude... We were the only two up in the house, she walked around in a pair of shorts and a lace crop-top that barely left any room for imagination. Not to mention the fact that she kept bumping and rubbing up against me; even though we had more than enough space in this kitchen.

I was trying so hard to fight this temptation that I had no choice but to step outside. God only knew the kinds of things I wanted to do to knock that attitude right out of her.

I sat on the patio outside enjoying the 11 AM morning sunshine while the rest of the house slept after what was a crazy first night. After the impromptu fight with Zahra's sorry ass boyfriend we spent a few hours in the emergency of a hospital; they wanted to keep Zahra over night but with the vast number of patients coming in with the same alcohol poisoning, they told her to just rest, stay hydrated and of course gave her a handful of pamphlets on abuse awareness. Although she wouldn't admit it, we all knew.

I didn't know how Monet did it, but after the story she told me on the plane about their friendship breaking up; seeing her run to her best friend's rescue was surprising but gave me another reason to like her more. Monet was selfless and caring. Karla on the other hand was annoyed and wanted nothing but to go home, she said we were ruining her trip, how she didn't come here to play baby sitter; this that and the third. I was so over it and turned off by her the entire night. The moment they sent us home I thanked God and was even happier when she just took her ass to sleep when we actually got to the house.

I drank some of my coffee and sat it down on the table and took my phone out of my pocket. I hit the FaceTime button under my moms name and propped the phone up on a vase so she could see me. After a few rings her face popped up and she was so close that I swear I could see every single pore she owned. "Ma, you can bring the camera back a little bit you know?"

"Hush, I like it where it is." She shot back. "How's your trip and why did you take so long to call your momma, boy?"

"I apologize we were getting settled in, some stuff went down last night... and yeah."

"Some stuff, meaning?"

"I'd rather explain everything when I get back. There's just sooo much craziness going on around me." I pulled on my beard. "Anyways, how's everything down there? How's Gabby and Leisha? Dad? Unc?"

"Well I can't wait to hear this. Everyone's doing well, Leisha had her first consultation yesterday and she's been on cloud nine ever since." A smile crept across my face. "If only she was awake I would let see the change in her entire demeanor."

"I can only imagine, she's been wanting this for a while."

"And you made it happen, I can't say thank you enough Myles. This means more to me than words can describe."

"Don't mention it ma, you know that my family comes first." I heard the sliding door behind me open and turned to see Monet walking out with a bowl of cereal.

"My bad, I didn't know you were on the phone." she whispered trying to step back inside.

"Who's that?!" my mom asked loudly, getting closer to the phone that she already was. I chuckled and so did Monet who gave me a look as if she was asking for permission to say hi, I nodded.

"Hi Mrs. Thomas." Monet leaned in front behind me, waving at the screen. My mother squinted until a big grin popped on her face along with a laugh so contagious that it had all of us cracking up.

"Monet?"

"Yes, it's me."

"Live and in flesh?"

"Yes ma'am."

"There is a God!" she shouted, throwing her head back. "Oh my, goodness. This is amazing seeing the two of you together... just like how I imagined it in my head, and Monet girl! That hair looks so good on you."

Monet blushed, "thank you Mrs. Thomas. You're looking beautiful yourself."

"Oh no need to lie or feel like you need to kiss up. you've already got my blessing."

"Ma! You gotta chill." I shook my head. "Anyways, everyone's about to wake up so I'm going to call you a little later?"

"Oh everyones about to wake up or someone got your attention all of a sudden?" she wiggled her brows, causing me to crack up again. "Talk to you later ma, I love you."

"I love you too Myles, talk to you late Monet!"

"Have a good day!" Monet replied and I hit the red button. Once my mom was off the screen, Monet pulled up a chair next to me.

"So, let's talk about last night." She said, mixing up her cereal and taking a bite.

"What about it?" I picked up my coffee glass, took a sip and stared ahead at the view.

"The way you dragged me away from Dejounte and out of the club wasn't cool."

"We had a situation. We were getting kicked out of the club and I had no other choice."

"You had another choice, like using that big mouth of yours to let me know that we were leaving. Not throwing me over your shoulder like I was some child..."

"My apologies, I was drunk and acted out of character. Please forgive me." My tone was as sarcastic as could be.

"And there you are, being an asshole when I'm trying to be serious?"

"Monet, don't annoy me on this beautiful morning please and thank you. I was enjoying it before you came out here trying to start up and argument for no reason. The drunk me made a mistake and I'm sorry. There was a lot of people being rushed out of that club and I didn't want to lose you. So, I acted quick."

"Drunk you, or the jealous you?"

"Why the hell would I be jealous?" I turned my nose up and scoffed.

"Don't even try that." She turned my face to her, causing me to almost spill coffee on myself. "I saw the way you were watching me when I was with him."

"Negative."

"Why are you even fronting Myles? I know what I saw."

That's when I knew that I needed to hurt her so that I wouldn't be faced with the temptation for the rest of the week. I had a goal, and my sisters dream to fulfill; Monet was getting in the way of that already. The more time we spent around each other was the more I was reminded of why I clicked on her account in the first place that day.

I was jealous, because she was what I wanted and more... but not right now.

I needed to hurt her.

"First of all, I was watching how much of a hoe you were being... you just met the nigga but looked like you were ready to give it up to him for the racks he had around his wrists." I scoffed again. "You looked pathetic last night, and now that I think about it; you should be thanking me for getting me out at the time that I did. That nigga is nothing but a bag of money, looking for another bitch to make it rain on. I hope you enjoyed that little fifteen minutes of fame because that's all you're going to get. " I turned my head to take another sip of my coffee, when out of no where I felt her hand connect with my cheek that being followed by her cereal being poured over my head. "What the hell Monet?"

"Do me a big favour, whatever you do... keep your distance from me during this trip. Do your thing and I'll do mine." She stood up and made her way towards the sliding door, letting herself in then slamming it shut behind her. Elijah was up and standing by the door, his mouth hung open.

I got up as well, brushed past Elijah and was hot on her heels, following her right up the stairs and into her room; shutting the door behind us. "Leave me the hell alone Myles." She tried to push me but I grabbed her arms and pushed her up against the wall.

"Don't you ever disrespect me like that Monet."

"Yet you've been disrespecting from I got here?!" she managed to push me off her and walked into the bathroom. "You block my number to please some old hoe of yours on a day when I needed you most, you then call me a groupie, now I'm a hoe. You practically ignore my presence as well as do everything with that girl of yours as if I'm not in the room. Do you know how rude that is?" she let out the band that held her hair into the ponytail, allowing her curls to fall around her face.

"Monet..."

"You fill my head with all these empty promises about what we're going to be and how you plan on treating me, when you see me... yet here you are. Being the complete... you know what? forget it." Monet turned around and cut the water on in the shower, she adjusted it to the point where it was steaming up the bathroom and once she was content she looked over at me, folding her arms. "You should probably go take a shower yourself, you look a mess..."

There were so many things I wanted to say to her at this point in time but I knew that I couldn't. I began to walk away, but something stopped me. I stood there pondering the thought before I turned on my heels and said "fuck it." I walked right back into that bathroom. Her bottom half was already off leaving her in that same lace top and panties that matched. A whole snack.

"This conversation... is finished." Her words were stern but her eyes were soft, I placed my hand against her cheek and leaned down to the point where our lips were only milometers apart, a sigh escaped her lips and I couldn't help myself. I kissed her lips as if I had been craving for them since the moment we shared one at the airport.

I lifted her up by her thighs and sat her down onto the bathroom counter; my hands resting against her waist as our lips moved as if they were in sync. It intensified and I felt her begin to tug on my t-shirt, I wasted no time pulling it over my head. I then kissed along her jaw line then down to her neck where I began to kiss her, the kisses travelled down to her exposed cleavage where I then, marked my territory. I brought my face back up to hers and she took control of the kiss, my hand massaging over the treasure she had hiding behind that lace in between her thighs. I watched as her eyes began to roll back, and her mouth parted; allowing her to let out a soft moan.

Monet's hands now reaching for the band of my sweatpants. I looked into her eyes and she nodded, before using her foot to begin to pull then down...

I couldn't believe this was happening. A dream come...

Nightmare.

"Did you have something else to say?" she asked, I realized I had still been standing in the washroom.

"I did... I think you're right about us just doing our own thing. I want you to stay clear of me because I'm with Karla and all you're doing is getting in the way. Those sweet nothings that I told you were all lies... I never felt a word and I will never feel a word. Being with Karla has let me realize how much of my type that you aren't." she stood there speechless, "I'm so glad that I didn't make the mistake of wasting my money to come see you. I would've been disappointed." I regretted every, single, word but it was time to finish off what I had started earlier... knowing just what to say to get her to keep her distance from me.

"Get the hell out of my room..."

I chucked up a deuce and let myself out peacefully. Once the door was closed I had no choice but to head back to Karla's room; although she didn't have what I was craving, I needed a way to let out my frustrations.

I knew that I just made a mess...

Monet DaSilva

I stayed up in my room for a couple more hours, mostly because I didn't want to see his face but also because I couldn't stop myself from crying. I was a tough girl but words... words; really got to me. Especially words like that, to know that everything I once thought about Myles was a lie; got to me. This was exactly why I didn't let anyone into my life because all they ever did was hurt me in the long run.

Niggas are trash.

I got myself freshened up and ready to go; in a simple short, nude maxi dress for my little lunch with Dejounte. I didn't want to do too much because it wasn't anything serious; I wasn't sure of his intentions with me and wasn't even going to go in the first place but with the way things were going with Myles I needed to be out of the house as quickly as I possibly could.

I picked up my purse, slipped my feet in some these sandals then left my room and headed for the stairs. I was at the top where I saw Karla and Myles leaving their room; they shared a kiss and once they noticed I was there; he froze.

"Hey cuz, you look cute. Where are you off to?" Karla asked, walking next to me down the steps.

"I have a lunch date." I glanced behind me to see Myles; clench his jaw before he reached forward and grabbed Karla's ass.

"Don't do that!" she giggled and slapped his hand away. "Anyways, is it with that NBA player?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Get it girl, he's cute... you better snatch him up."

"Monet!" Zahra exclaimed as we entered the living area. "Now that I'm sober enough, I can truly say that I'm so happy to see you." I still felt uneasy when it came to her, but I was forgiving and tried to look past it; now she needed my help.

"I'm happy to know that you're good. Elijah over here saved your life."

"Practically!" she agreed, sharing a look with him before looking back at me. "Where are you off to?"

"Just lunch with a friend." My eyes followed Karla and Myles who had made their way out into the backyard. Zahra literally had to snap me out of my thoughts.

"Does Myles know about this friend?" Elijah whispered.

"I'm sorry, but what the hell does he have to do with this?" I shot back, furrowing my brows.

"Girl please, you know how you feel about Myles. Now that he's here in the flesh; he should be getting all up in that."

"I agree." Elijah added, eating some of his breakfast from his plate. I shot him a look and he raised his hands in surrender. "Please don't throw cereal at me... I just washed my hair."

"Such a loser!" I laughed, "Myles is too busy getting up into someone else right now, so I think I'll pass." I looked down at my phone that vibrated from just the person I was waiting on. "Not to mention the fact that he's nothing compared to what I got waiting for me outside."

"What time you coming home? I have zero clothes and I'm afraid to go to the hotel alone."

"Get something from my suitcase upstairs and when I get home we'll swing by the hotel to get your suitcase."

"I'll be joining you guys." Elijah said sternly.

I pushed my sunglasses on and responded to the message that sat waiting for my reply. "See you guys later."

"Bye girl!"

"Bye Monet!"

I opened up the front door and was greeted by a BMW i8 in the driveway; Dejounte stood outside of it with a bouquet of roses. I tried to hide my smile but it was near impossible. After a rough night and even worse morning, this is what I needed.

"There are for you." He said once I got down the steps to him. "You're looking beautiful as always." He complimented before pulling me into a warm hug; I leaned into him and inhaled his scent.

"Thank you... I appreciate these as well." I said holding the flowers to my nose.

"I figured you deserved it after your night was cut short." He opened the door for me and I took my seat and strapped up, setting the flowers and my purse on my lap. Dejounte shut the door then walked over to the driver's side and did the same. "So, how long do I get to spend time with you today?" he asked, pulling out of the driveway. "I know a pretty girl like you probably got plans, so I don't want to intrude."

"You wouldn't be intruding." I smiled, "and I don't have any plans at all so I'm down for whatever."

"I like the sound of that, but before we start our adventure are you sure the incredible hulk aint gonna pop up again and snatch you from me? Cause I swear to God; with the way you're looking in that dress imma have to start throwing hands..."

"You won't have to worry about that today. I promise."

"Glad to hear, now just sit back and enjoy your day. I have a bit planned, so when you start getting tired of me; feel free to let me know and I'll have no problem bringing you home."

"Sounds good to me, what's on the agenda first?"

"Getting some food in your stomach," he smiled. "I read somewhere on twitter that that's a key to a woman's heart. Please tell me that it's true."

"A twitter quote? Really? You're acting like you don't got experience, with your kind of fame."

"Trust me, I don't give much women my time because once I got to the NBA it was hard to detect who was real from who was trying to get a child support check."

"And what made me so different? What if I'm looking for one of those checks myself? I could use a new purse, couple pair of shoes..."

He smiled, then looked over at me. "Just had a gut feeling that you were a real one. But, to be quite honest with you, I wouldn't mind fathering your children anyways. So..." he shrugged and flashed one of the sexiest smiles that I've ever seen. "it is what it is." My face grew hot and I played with my finger nails, trying to make sure he didn't see... I was not about to fall into the trap of another nigga, especially after everything that I heard prior to this.

"So Dejounte, tell me about yourself?"

"You want me to bore you, already?"

"C'mon. Tell me."

"Fine. Well I'm 21 years old, 100% African American; I'm not one of those niggas that'll front on where I'm from to pull shorties. I'm originally from Seattle but I moved to San Antonio to play basketball for the Spurs two years ago."

"Something that I can't find out on Wikipedia."

"Damn." He chuckled, "Well, I'm a very shy person actually, my mom's my best friend as well as my baby sister and brother. I have an interest in art."

"Oh, you can draw?"

"Nope, that's why it's just an interest."

I shook my head and giggled, "I also have a dog that keeps me company since I'm always on the road. I like to read, big oldies fan when it comes to music and... yeah. I can't think of anything else. Your turn."

"Trust me when I say my story isn't any better. I currently am in University of Texas studying pre-law, I run track, pretty well actually. I'm African-American and Columbian. I literally have no life, so that's all I have to tell you."

"C'mon, there's gotta be more."

"I wish there was," I smirked. "My life revolves around school and track, that's it."

"Are you a family person?"

"I was, until I left for school. I didn't get the opportunity to go back as yet, but I do keep in touch with my dad from time to time."

"Your mom?"

"I'd rather not talk about that right now."

"I respect you, don't worry." he pulled into a plaza that held a few stores and of course because of the fact that it was spring break; the place was crawling with people. Dejounte pulled up in front of the valet and took up his sunglasses. "Enough of that, now let's go get something to eat."

"No body guards today?"

"Nope, just me and you..." I shared a
