Jealousy is never satisfied with anything short of an omniscience that would detect the subtlest fold of the heart. --George Eliot

A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything. Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity. --Robert A. Heinlein

Third Person P.O.V.

Amelia had invited Vlad over for dinner the next day because Lex thought that it would be a better idea to have first so she could make sure Vlad was an okay guy for her best friend. Amelia was so excited about it; the excitement had made Lex try to calm Amelia down for hours as she helped cook. Lex was better at baking than cooking so Amelia was happy with the cooking instead.

"This is so dumb. Why can't the cake come out the way I want it too!" Lex groaned.

"The cake is perfect Lex. It doesn't have to be all grand and all." Amelia said.

Don had come over to talk to Amelia about who Vlad was only to be displeased that Vlad was coming over for a dinner date with her. He despised Vlad with every ounce of his being.

Too head-strung about the dinner idea and Vlad agreeing to come over for it, Amelia was nothing short but light. She placed everything on the table, waiting and thinking of when he would get here. The clank of silverware mixed with the sound of knocking.

Lex smiled telling Amelia she would get the door letting Vlad in. Lex invited him in, closing the door behind him. Don stood in the archway to the dining room, turning his gaze to Amelia and sighed.

Amelia smiled welcoming Vlad and thanking him for agreeing to come to the dinner.

"I'm really happy you agreed to come."

Vlad looked at Don, giving him a vexed look but not saying anything.

"You're welcome. Thank you for inviting me."

"Well now that all this has been set up. I and my dumbass brother will be going now. You two have fun and keep it PG-13 in here." Lex said smirking at Amelia's now tomato red face making Vlad chuckle and Don tsk in disgust. Annoyed, Lex grabs Don by the neck of his shirt dragging him out as he yelled for her to let go.

Vlad and Amelia were sat at the dinner table, smiles exchanged between them. Amelia was excited still about Vlad being here, but now she felt a little nervous. Didn't at all kick in until she saw him here.

"I hope the food is good! Lex and me cooked. Well, more liked baked while I cooked." Amelia giggled, blushing at the fact she was the only one talking. Vlad, just smiling at her, chuckled at her crimson face. He tried the egg fried rice first and was amazed at how well it tasted.

"This is good. Who taught you how to cook?"

"Believe it or not, but it was my father. My mother is hopeless in the kitchen."

Vlad chuckled. "Your father taught you well. It's the best food I ever had."

Amelia felt her cheek flare-up feeling proud of her skills. She mentally thanked her father for teaching her how to cook. Impressing her mate was just something she always wanted to do matter what it was and he loved it.

"That can't be true. You live in the palace with the queen. I'm sure there is a chef there that can cook wonderful food."

Vlad shook his head. "The chef we have is a high-class cook, but I rather have the taste of my mates cooking. You put so much love into it for me and that makes me happy. Makes me only want you to cook for me and no one else."

If it was possible to glow bright red that you can notice it from miles away then Amelia was just that. The rest of the night went well with Vlad telling him all about his life and how he lost his parents to vampire hunters many years ago. Amelia could see just how much he missed his parents and wanted to do something to ease his pain. Many ideas had come to mind, but she needed one that would impact him. For now, she gently held Vlad in her arms cooling his body with her chill body. He nuzzled her neck as his heart started to race as his fangs wanted to sink into her neck to taste her blood. Vlad needed to control himself so that he wouldn't scare Amelia away. He pulled away with a slight blush to his cheeks breathing just a bit heavy. His eyes glowing red. Amelia could see Vlad holding back the urge to bit her as a small smile spread across her face.

"I um...would not mind if you wanted a little bit," she said blushing as her eyes averted away from his now shocked gaze.

Were his ears playing tricks on him? How could she already want to be bitten by him yet, he thought?

"Only if that's okay with you!" Amelia said now realizing that maybe telling him to bit her on the first date is not the best way to go.

Vlad chuckled before releasing his grip on Amelia. "I'll save the bit for next time. ~"

Amelia was left speechless on what to even say to him. All she could do was see the ever-growing smirk on Vlad's face enjoying the fact he made her a loss for words. As if the timing could not be any worse as Lex busts through the door with no care in the world with Don right behind her.

"Date over! It's late and I want to watch my favorite TV show Lucifer like now!"

"Woman! Stop busting down doors! They aren't cheap!" Amelia yelled annoyed. "Sorry about that Vlad."

"It's not a problem. It is getting late. I'll be heading home now."

Amelia felt sad that he had to get going but smiled as he promised her, they will have another date soon. Lex helped Amelia the plates and cups to the kitchen. Once Vlad tried to leave Don blocked his way.

"You might as well leave Amelia alone. I don't get why you bother to get yourself involved with her." Don was rough with his tone. A low growl escaping with his words. Vlad just looked at him, not even a blink. Don grumbled, "Amelia is out of your league. She'd be better off liking someone else."

Vlad still said nothing.

Don shot up and slammed his hands on the frame door, "Are you even listening?! Just screw off!"

Vlad blinked finally and focused his eyes better on Don. He snorted, "Sorry, did you say something? The moment you started talking I tuned you out."

Don was dumbstruck by this. Vlad walked past him sighing, "Your voice is annoying." And with that, he took his leave, leaving Don fuming with rage as Lex went to go check on what that loud bang was and why her brother was shouting when she heard everything Don had said to Vlad.

"What an idiot..." Lex whispered.
