A couple days later, it was time for one of the days the teachers at Barkley High feared the most. As Marie told me when we first became friends after I started teaching here, it was a tradition at the school that the week before Homecoming was the week the seniors always pulled a lot of pranks on the staff and the younger students. Even though some of them were small pranks, all the teachers seemed to fear them and tried to avoid the seniors at all cost. It was Wednesday and thankfully, I haven't been the victim of any pranks yet. I tried to ask Marc if they had anything planned for my classes with them, but he wouldn't tell me anything and just smiled and shrugged his shoulders at me when I asked him about it.

Homecoming was a big thing at Barkley High, but not because of football. No, this school's football team was... not very successful to say the least. It was the soccer team that had everyone going crazy. So naturally, the school decided to celebrate Homecoming for soccer instead of football.

I don't know why, but Marie convinced me to organize the Homecoming party with her and some other teachers and seniors. It was going to take place after the soccer team's game on Saturday.

We were supposed to meet up during lunch to discuss some last minute things for the party. As I walked into the room the first thing I saw was Marc and a few of his friends sitting at a table, chatting to the students who helped organize everything.

"Uhm... what are you guys doing here?" I asked while putting down my bag.

"We asked Miss Candle if you guys needed some last minute help and she said yes." Lisa, one of Marc's friends said. "Oh really?" I answered and looked at Marie.

"Yep, we can use all the help we can get. Especially on Friday night when we set up the gym for the dance!" She says and grabs some papers. "Okay guys, let's start!"

Unfortunately, we did not finish everything by the time lunch ended.

"Guys, I know it's a lot of work, but I would really appreciate it if some of you would stay after school so that we can finish up... I'll order pizza for us." Marie said, trying to convince everyone.

Looking at everyone's faces I could see that no one really wanted to stay after school.

"I have soccer practice after school but if you're still here after that, I'll come and join you." said Marc and smiled at me.

"Me too." Johnny, another one of his friends said.

A few more students agreed to meet after school and by the time they all left the room, Marie and I were happy that we convinced them to stay longer.

The rest of the day went by in a hurry, and before I knew it the final bell of the day rang. We decided to meet in my classroom, which is why I didn't have to

Pack my bag. I said goodbye to my Junior English class and waited for Marie and the students to get here. I got up from my seat and started getting some chairs so that we could all sit around my table in the front of the classroom.

Five minutes later the door opened and I saw a smiling Marie walking in, followed by a few seniors.

"Hello my favorite colleague!" she cheered and put down her bag.

"Wow, you're in a good mood!" I said while picking up another chair.

"Here, let me help." Jaxon, a senior that also was part of Marc's friend group, said and took the chair from me.

"Thanks" I whispered.

Quite a few of the senior that were helping us this afternoon were friends with Marc, and I still didn't know if they knew that something was going on between the two of us. That's why even though I loved helping with the organization of the party, I had a weird feeling in my stomach.

"Ok, let's start!" Marie said after everyone arrived. There were 8 students plus Marie and I, which meant we were all sitting very closely to each other around the table. Marie took out the folder that had everything we needed inside it, as well as her laptop. Then, she suddenly stopped going through the folder and looked up.

"I forgot the most important thing... Pizza!"

Her words earned cheering from everyone around the table and I was also happy, because I hadn't had breakfast this morning.

Marie got an empty piece of paper and a pen and gave it to Sophie who was sitting to her left. "Here, everyone write down what you want to eat and I'll call the pizza place."

While the paper travelled around the table, we started going over everything that still had to be organized.

When the paper was back in front of Marie , she was about to pick up her phone when a thought came into my head.

"Wait, Marc is going to join us when he's done with practice and he'll probably want something to eat, too!" I quickly said. After a couple of seconds, Marie gave me a knowing smirk.

"You're right." She said.

"When we order pizza, he usually just takes a large pepperoni pizza." Leo, who was sitting to my right, pointed out.

"Mh, what a coincidence, he wants the same as Mae..." Marie mumbles, but it was l9ud enough for everyone to hear. This time, I felt not only her eyes on me, but also the students'.

Before any of them could say anything, I got up and grabbed my phone from the table, saying "I'm gonna call the pizza place, you guys go on, I'll be back in five." I felt the blush creeping on my face while I grabbed the piece of paper with everyone's orders and made my way out of the door.

The halls were empty. The soccer team and the choir were the only other groups left at school, but the soccer pitch and the choir room were both on the other site of campus, making the hallways quieter than I've ever experienced them.

Two minutes later, our pizzas were ordered and they told me that they would be here in 30 minutes.

I took one last look at my phone and saw that soccer practice had ended ten minutes ago.

"Booo!" I heard some say around me and felt two hands grabbing my waist.

I let out a short scream and nearly dropped my phone.

I spun around and saw Marc in front of me, still wearing his training clothes.

"I'm sorry." He said, but he couldn't keep the laugh that he was holding in.

I slapped his arm and said: "This isn't funny!" He really scared me and I tried to keep a straight face, but the joy of seeing Marc made it really hard not to smile.

"Why are you still in your training clothes?" I asked him. His hair was sweaty and let's just say, he didn't smell as good as he usually does.

"Are you trying to tell me I smell bad?" Marc asked with a smirk on his face. His hands reached for my waist again and this time I let him keep them there.

"Yes."

"Ouch, that hurts. I wanted to get to this meeting as fast as possible, so I skipped the shower and went straight over here." His body was getting closer to mine.

"Okay, that was a lie. I don't really care about the meeting." His face was only centimeters from mine.

"Uh-huh, then what do you care about?" I asked in a low voice.

"You." He whispered. A second later, his lips were on mine.

Marc gently pushes my body while keeping his lips connected with mine. I take a few steps back and feel my back connect with the wall. It was as if I was hypnotized.

Marc's lips travelled down my neck and all I could do was run my hands up and down his sides. I knew that no one was around, so I allowed myself to completely get lost in the moment. A quiet moan escaped my lips before his lips were on mine again.

This felt right. More than right. It felt as if it was meant to be. As if Marc and I were meant to be. And I did not care what anyone else thought about that.
