~Three Days Have Passed By Since The Party~

Brad and I have been trying to avoid each other ever since the party.

Every time we made eye contact it would be so awkward and I would make sure to look away as fast as I could.

I just wanted to know if he actually meant what he said when he said he liked me but I mean he was drunk and he has a girlfriend so I bet he doesn't.

I made my way into the kitchen. I could hear laughing. A girls laugh. I knew it wasn't my moms laugh.

I tip toed to the living room and peaked my head around the corner. I saw Brad and some girl sitting on the couch. They were very close. He had his arm around her. He was kissing her cheek a bunch of times. She kept giggling.

I rolled my eyes and walked to the kitchen. I grabbed a bowl of cereal and ate at the table.

"Oh hi." A high pitch voice said. I turned around and saw the blonde headed girl that was sitting on the couch with Brad.

"Hey." I mumbled.

"You're the new girl well was the new girl. Your name is Kali right?"

Please stop talking to me before I throw my bowl of cereal at your head.

Gosh I'm so violent.

"Yes."

"Are you and Brad close?" She joined me at the table.

No you can't sit with me. What made her think she could sit with me?

"No."

"Oh okay good. Do you like uh...live here?"

"No I'm just visiting." I sarcastically said but she didn't seem to get it.

"Oh are you like Luke or Carter's friend?"

Please stop talking to me.

You make me want to bang my head on this table.

"Both I guess."

"By the way you are really pretty. I'm totally jealous." She said.

"Thanks."

"Well as long as you aren't close to Brad we can become great friends." She twirled her blonde hair and flashed me a smile.

I just nodded and kept eating my cereal. I didn't answer her because I really didn't know how to respond to what she just said.

"Well it was nice talking to you. Bye!" She stood up and left.

I sighed in relief. Finally she left. I twirled my spoon around in my bowl of cereal.

Carter came in and joined me at the table. I knew he was starring at me but I didn't bother to look at him.

"What's wrong? You've been acting weird for the past three days." He said.

"I'm fine." I mumbled.

"No you aren't. How about I take you out. We can go play mini golf."

"Okay." I looked up at him. He smiled.

"I will go get ready. Meet me right back here in ten minutes."

"Alright." I smiled. He walked out of the kitchen. I cleaned up my cereal bowl in the kitchen sink. Brad walked in. We both stood there for a minute just looking at each other.

"Hey." His voice was low.

"Hey."

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Look I'm sorry about what happened at the party. I shouldn't have done that."

"Let's just forget about what happened that night and just move on." I walked out of the kitchen before he could say anything to me. I walked to my room and got changed for mini golf with Carter.

I was actually excited about going out with Carter. I needed to get out of the house.

I finished getting ready and made my way down to the kitchen where I found Carter standing there waiting for me. I ran over to him. He held out his arms and wrapped them around me. I laid my head against his chest. We stood here for a while just standing here in each other's arms. It wasn't awkward it was nice. It was something I needed and I think he knew that.

Someone cleared their throat. I pulled away from Carter. Brad and his girlfriend was now in the room.

"Let's go." I grabbed onto Carter's hand

"Okay." He said.

"Where are you guys going?" Brad asked.

"Out." I hissed.

"Where out?" Brad looked at Carter and then to me. I looked away from Brad. I could still feel his eyes on me.

"Mini golfing. We are leaving right now. Bye." Carter grabbed onto my hand and pulled me along with him.

"I officially suck at mini golf!" I sighed.

"No you don't." Carter chuckled. He walked over to me and got behind me. "I will help you." He pressed his body against the back of mine. He grabbed onto my hands and helped me swing the golf club. I got the golf ball in the hole. Carter let go of my hands and moved back a little. I jumped up and down.

"Finally!" I shouted. "I did it! I did it!" I started doing a little dance. A few people were giving me weird looks but I didn't care. I kept doing my little dance.

Carter chuckled. "You're so cute."

I turned around and faced him. I smiled at him. "Not really but thanks."

"Yes you are and you know it." He smirked. I shook my head. He got closer to me. "You should get it through that big head of yours that you are really cute."

"Big head? I don't have a big head." I crossed my arms.

"A little." He shrugged.

I gasped. "Great I had a big head all my life and I didn't even know about it. Now I'm sad."

Carter pulled me into him and wrapped his arms around me. "I'm just kidding. Your head is perfect." He said.

"Liar."

"I'm not lying." He gently kissed my cheek. He pulled away and looked into my eyes. "Now let's play a few more rounds of mini golf and how about we go get something to eat after?"

I nodded and he smiled.

"But don't think you can just call my head big and get away with it by kissing me on the cheek." I said. He smirked.

"Even if you do have a big head or small head. I still like you."

"You know...you make it hard for me to stay mad at you." I put my hands on my hips.

He smirked. "Come on princess. I want to kick your butt some more at mini golf!"

Carter and I came back home. It was late so we both decided to go straight to bed. Sadly I couldn't fall asleep so I decided to go get a snack. I walked into the kitchen to see my mom sitting at the table by herself looking at a piece of paper.

"Mom?"

She jumped and then laughed but I could tell something was wrong by the look on her face and the way she forced herself to laugh.

"You startled me sweetie." She forced a smile.

I walked over to her. She quickly put the piece of paper back into the envelope.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah I'm fine. I was just about to go to bed. What are you doing up so late?"

"I couldn't sleep but mom I know you're not okay. I have a feeling that note was about me." I sat down at the table with her.

"It's okay sweetie. I can handle this. You just get whatever you were going to get and go to bed. You have school tomorrow."

"Mom let me see the envelope."

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"It's dad isn't it?"

She nodded. A tear rolled down her cheek. I put my hand on the top of her hand. I gave her a small smile.

"It's okay. Let me see it."

She handed me the envelope. I took it. I moved my hand away from hers. I pulled out the piece of paper.

I looked over at her. "May I read this alone?"

She nodded. "I will be upstairs in my room if you need me." She stood up and kissed my forehead. "I love you Kali." She said.

"I love you too mom."

She patted my shoulder and then walked away.

I let out a long breath.

Am I ready to read this? No not at all definitely when I just saw how sad my mom looked. She even teared up. Which means if she can't even take this letter. I obviously won't be able to.

I haven't read one of my dad's letters since two years ago. I had to stop because they just kept making me sad and angry.

I knew that this one would probably be the worst.

I let out another long breath. I opened up the letter and saw my dad's horrible handwriting that was all in black pen.

Just read it Kali.

You can do this.

The letter said...

Oh no I left you all off with a cliffhanger!

Sorry I had to do it!

Okay so we know that Kali's dad is in jail. Maybe some of you don't remember but it was in one of the updates. Anyways what do you think Kali's dad did that made him have to go to jail?

I might not update for a while because of school work/grades. BUT if you all comment and vote I just might try to update it quicker!

I've been noticing I have a lot of new readers! So hello! 😁

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Love you all! Bye! ✌️
