We sat in the waiting room. Alex and Dylan finally calmed down. Dylan's friends showed up and they were sitting with us. It was hectic around us. People being rushed in. I'm tired of this. It's too much for one week.

I look up to see Anna and a little kid come in the hospital. She spots me and walks over. I'm wondering why they are here and how she found out. I start looking around her.

"He better not have come here. " I say finding my voice.

"She's his daughter. "

"I know what happened when she showed up at your house. They found her walking in the snow. She was crying and walking alone in the cold. He slapped her and threw her away like garbage. Her mother just died two days ago. We didn't know where she went. I have been so scared that she killed herself. And he throws her away because I fell in love with her." I say, every one looks over to me. I don't mention Alex.

"He's not here." Anna says quietly.

"You know I stopped our relationship because I didn't want her to lose her father. She fell apart the last time they talked. I saw her fall apart in my dad's arms. So I ended it so she could have her father back. You should of seen her, I didn't want to hurt her. She ran away. We finally get her to come back and her mom dies. She has no blood left. None.. What ever happens in that hospital room tonight, She belongs to me now. Do you understand? She belongs to me now." I finish. Alex puts his hand on my arm.

"I understand. " she says. "What happened to her? All I heard was that she was in the hospital here. Your dad called and I picked up the phone and listened in. Will went off on Ben."

"Some girl pushed her down a flight of stairs. We don't know anything else. Jase is calling again. " Alex says.

"Give me the phone. " I take the phone from Alex and walk away. I talk to Jase. I know he's freaking out. He had a hard time with leaving in the first place and now he's beating himself up for leaving. I've been so jealous of him. He got her when I let her go. I know how hard this is for him and he really is a great guy.

It was hard watching them together because the only person I could be mad at is myself. Jase found a flight and will be here in the morning with Brody.

I walk out to the waiting room. I sit down. We're all just waiting around. It's been three hours already. You think we would hear something by now. My cell rings and its my dad. I talk to him and he already caught a flight out here. He will be hear in a couple hours. Its one in the morning. I wonder if he pulled strings.

A nurse finally comes out. "Alex Crawford"

We all get up and walk over. You see her look at us all. She just nods. "I just want to tell you that they stopped the bleeding, that's good. She's in a coma, that's good. They put her in one. Her brain is swollen, that's bad. She's going to need surgery but can't until it goes down. They are moving her into a room. They want to watch her close and will have a surgeon on standby waiting to go. I just told your dad and he wants you guys to stay calm. I can't let you in her room. No one can go in her room until the doctor gives the okay. "

"How long will she be in a coma? " I ask.

"I want to say until her body says its okay. Since the Doctor put her in it. I can't give out more information. The doctor only told me so much. He is still with her. He said that she is strong that she's still here but keep praying. I can bring you to another waiting room?"

"Okay"

"Is there more coming?" She asks.

"Not for awhile. " I answer. We follow her back thru a hallway. We enter another waiting room, its quiet. The tv is on. We all take a seat. She comes back with a stack of blankets.

I'm kinda surprised that Dylan and his friends are still here. I guess its a lot to take in. I sit back. Alex sits next to me. "What was all that about?"

"You know exactly what that's about. Alex, we gave her up and for what? I wonder if we would all be home and just grieving for her mother if we never let her go. Now we might lose her altogether.. I just didn't want her to lose her father and she did anyways."

"Yeah but she still has us. She has Jase who will be here soon."

"I'm not going to fight Jase for her. Jase is a good friend now but I want Anna to realize how much hurt was caused by his hate. For what? I'm not her blood. I have no connection to her. If her mother accepted us then I don't understand why couldn't he had at least accepted her. She wasn't the only one hurting. It spiraled out of control and I don't understand it. What is wrong with loving her?"

"Nothing Chase, but we have bigger problems now. Jase and Brody are going to be a lot to handle. They don't like not being in charge. I'm not saying anything bad about them but they have a way of taking over."

"There's nothing to take over."

"Just watch." Alex says. He looks up to see Dylan coming over and sitting next to us.

"Hey." I say to him.

"Your her brother? "

"Its weird. We met over the summer. . Her mother started seeing our father and They moved in a month later. Then I fell for her the minute I met her. Her father freaked out so I ended it with her because I didn't want her to lose family over something that might not last. Our parents got married when her mom found out she was dying. My father is now her guardian. She started seeing someone else. But when her mom died and she thought maybe her father would stop being an ass and be her father for a change. "

"Wow... this is like an episode of Oprah. You could probably sell it. I can see why you would fall for her though. We hung out with her for a couple hours and she was a blast. We picked her up because Bob saw her and thought we could at least get her off the side of the road. He rescues everyone. She sat down in the car so scared. She was shaking and then I got a look at her. She wasn't just cold, her face was swollen. You said her father smacked her... her face was definitely bruised. Joe saw it too and he didn't want to just drop her off. He was kind of scared that whoever did it would come after her. That's why we pressed her to come to the party. " Dylan says to us. He put his feet up.

A couple more hours go by and my dad enters the waiting room. He's holding Nicky. He comes over to me and puts Nicky in my lap. Nicky instantly curls up to me. Dad looks around. He's tired. He drops his bags.

"Alex, put our stuff in the car. " dad looks around and sees Anna. "Hi Anna I wasn't expecting to see you? "

"Yeah, I listened in on your phone call, grabbed Andy and got here as fast as I could. I'm sorry, Will. I really had no idea what was going on. When I saw her, I thought she changed her mind about coming for thanksgiving dinner. Then Ed started going off on her and I was in shock. Everything happened so fast. After the door closed, we got into a fight and I just assumed she had a way home." Anna says.

"It's okay not your fault. Looks like she drew a crowd." My dad says looking at all the guys. "So I talked to Jase and he's already talking about having her transferred to California. He says we have better medical care. I guess he pushed his way into talking to her Doctor? He will be here in an hour. I don't know if her Doctor will sign her over yet."

"Is he able to do that?" I ask. Maybe Alex is right.

"Not with out my permission but as long as the doctors sign off. Its the best thing to get her back to L. A. We still have her mom's funeral this weekend. It will be easier for us to go back and forth to take care of her."

"Yeah your right. I want her close to home. It will make recovery easier. " I nod.

"So who are all our new friends? " Dad says smiling.

"They kinda saved her. Dylan, Joe, Sam, and Bob." Alex says as he takes a seat.

The past hour and a half went a little faster since dad was here. He made it feel like he had it under control. Jase and Brody walk in with a nurse. They smile at us.

"Hey she's going to bring us to Dani's room real quick. Then we're going to talk. " Jase says. They leave following the nurse.

I turn to my dad and he shakes his head. I look over to Alex and he looks out the window. I can tell he's kinda pissed that they somehow got the nurse to do what we couldn't. I look back at the clock. Its six in the morning. I'm so ready for today to be over.

Jase and Brody come back out. Brody has his hands in his pockets. Brody looks at us. "It's fucking cold here."

"I talked to the Doctor and he said if the swelling goes down we can transport her tonight. I'm going to call my dad and have all the arrangements made. We need to get our girl home before I kill somebody." Jase says and walks out of the room.

Brody sits down next to me. He puts his head on my shoulder and I roll my eyes. "Chase..."

"Yeah Brody? "

"I took a picture of her so you could see how she looks. I know you guys haven't been able to see her yet. I think she looks better when she gets cleaned up." Brody says. I remember Alex sent Jase a picture earlier so he knew what to expect. I know its kind of weird but we were kinda thinking broken leg, concussion. When we saw her it was scary.

I look at the new picture of her. She is all cleaned up and hooked to machines. There's a doctor and a nurse next to her. This is like seeing her mother all over again. My father takes a deep breathe. This is hitting hard after Monday and now I'm scared she's not going to make it.

Jase comes back and sits next to me. He puts his arm around me. "So I kind of have a lot of adrenaline running thru me."

"Yeah? "

"I feel like I want to fight. Take a run with me. Don't worry they will text me the minute they will let us enter the door way. They only let us see her thru the window. After the picture I got. I just had to see her breathing." Jase says standing back up. I give Alex a look. He rolls his eyes. He stands up. I set Nicky on the couch and cover him.

The rest of the guys follow us out. I realize Jase wants to know what happened and not in front of dad. He looks at me and then over his shoulder. I shake my head.

"Its not their fault. "

Jase nods back at me. Its amazing how fast the atmosphere changed when he got here. It went from sitting around and waiting to Jase in control in seconds. But not in a bad way.

Jase is just so used to being in charge all the time. I know his parents don't even argue with him. They put him in charge when they decided to move to England. They left Jase in charge when he was thirteen. I can't imagine not having dad to go to. Brody goes to Jase every time, as if Jase is his parent. I just understand it now and I'm glad it's not me.

We walk down to a park. It helped getting out of the hospital. I didn't want to leave her but dad's there. Jase was right. It was too intense in the waiting room.

"Who was that lady? " Jase asks.

"That was Anna. Dani's fathers wife." I tell him.

"You realize she just stood there when that asshole slapped Dani. Dani was on the phone crying about it."

"What? When?" Alex asks.

"When she was at that party. I don't want her near Dani until she wakes up. I dont want any of them near her to be honest. I want an order of protection against Ed. Do you think that you can get your Dad on it?" Jase asks.

"Yeah. I will text him now." I answer.

"I want charges brought against him. Shes a minor. There has to be something. He put her in a situation that could of been completely avoided. If you and Alex think this is your fault in any way, I want you to know its not. There's no way you could of protected her from this. This is all her dads fault. He knew her mother died. She's been apologizing over and over for three months now. She shouldn't have to beg him to love her and be her father. I had a feeling that she would take off here when her mom died. So it doesn't matter who was with her, she would of found a way to leave. You guys understand right?" Jase asks. I nod. He's right I have been feeling guilty. I felt like I should of realized she left the house.

"I appreciate you guys picking her up. When she told me that a car stopped and she just got in. I thought she is being drugged, raped.. I don't know but then I remembered she was on the phone. That girl, she makes my life not seem so dark. You know. When she smiles... you can't help but smile with her. You saved her from being attacked in a way that could of destroyed her. She doesn't think all the time. I swear after this is done, Im putting a tracking chip in her." Jase says.

I look over to Brody swinging. He looks beat. Jase looks at me and then over to Brody. He starts laughing. "Yeah he's tired. We haven't been sleeping. Between the pranks from my cousins, my mom following us everywhere, my father hounding us about moving there, my grandma dying and now Dani. I don't think he can think straight."

"Clowns?" I ask.

"Tons of clowns. We get there and his room is covered in pictures of clowns. Then filled with manicans dressed as clowns. My cousins were dressed up as clowns waiting for him outside. I had to actually step in the middle and protect the baby. " Jase says. We all start laughing.

"So how did she fall down the stairs? " Jase asks. They got silent.

"She went to ask a couple that we're fighting about the bathroom. The girl pushed her. She fell backwards. " Dylan said.

"What happened to that girl?" Jase asks.

"She was arrested after the ambulance left. Charges are pending. So far its assault. The charges depend on what happens to Dani." Bob answers. Jase nods his head. We get up and head back. Dylan and his friends take off. Dylan said he wants us to text him later about Dani.
