Ambers P.O.V

Dylan and I are back home now and preparing the table for family dinner, I neatly place the mats and cutlery down for each person and pour homemade lemonade into each cup that mom prepared earlier.

"Dinners ready!" Grey screams from the kitchen and a heard of footsteps run down the stairs in a hurry.

"Whatever is baking in that sweet oven smells heavenly Dil!" Dylan skips to his seat and sips on his lemonade.

By now everyone is seated, and Grey is holding a steamy pasta bake in his grey oven gloves, I find it funny every time. Dad dishes up the food and we all tuck in, I was starving after that photoshoot so I sloppily chew huge mouthfuls of the pasta and half the sauce coats my face like a foundation.

"You're so gross Amber!" Isaac said in disgust, I rolled my eyes and gave him my evil glare that earnt a few chuckles around me.

"You can never look evil princess, you look like a cute kitten that got her paws wet each time," Jason said whilst wiping my face with his napkin.

"How was the photoshoot sweetie?" Mom asked me sweetly. I didn't really know what to say...

Well, three strangers saw me naked and complimented my 'figure' and 'curves', then the actual photoshoot part was actually fun, oh yeah I can't forget about the part when I met the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life. So...no not much happened.

"It was really fun, not as scary and intimidating as I thought it would be," I said, hoping they didn't want me to elaborate further. Mom seemed happy with my answer and continued eating. I was inner celebrating that she didn't ask further questions, but my life isn't that easy.

"Did you meet any boys there?" Grey asked and turned to me, oh fuck what do I say now? Dylan is busy devouring his food and isn't even hearing the conversation, so no help there.

"No guys there, just girls," I said in the most confident voice I could produce. My brothers apart from Dylan didn't seem convinced and gave me the look of 'I know you're lying' but dropped it and continue eating.

It was silent for a while and all you could hear was our cutlery clinking together, but dad decided to break the silence.

"So Jason...when are you gifting me and your mother with grandchildren?" Dad asked casually out of the blue. Jason choked on air and started violently coughing whilst I would rub his back to calm him down.

The whole room turned into awkward silence. Me, Grey, Isaac and Dylan looked up at him with curious eyes whilst mom and dad looked at him lovingly with pure hope as if they asked nothing wrong.

Jason scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, "Ummmm I don't know." Jason said whist fidgeting in his seat uncomfortably.

"Well can we expect a girl coming home soon so we can meet her? Then discuss your future wedding plans if we accept her into the family circle?" Mom said innocently whilst Jason looked horrified.

I should probably explain...the 'Family circle' is what mom and dad created for this house, basically me, all my brothers and parents are in the family circle and if we ever get a new friend, girlfriend or boyfriend, then we have a family discussion to see if they can be included in our 'Family circle'.

We have had these discussions before when Grey and Isaac have brought home girlfriends and let's just say that it didn't end well for them... Mom and dad basically decided that they didn't trust them, and they were banned from the house.

If you get into the family circle, you must be special because it has only happened once.

A few years ago, Dylan was seeing a guy he liked from work and took him home to meet all the family. His name was Daniel and they were both inseparable, he was such a nice guy and won over the hearts of mom and dad, and from then on, he was included in the family circle.

That was until he came around for a dinner 5 months later and broke Dylan's heart.

Daniel excused himself to use the toilet and left his phone on the table, we were all eating peacefully when his phone beeped, his phone was right next to mom and her motherly instincts kicked in and she had a look at the screen. That's when all hell broke loose.

It turns out 'Daniel' wasn't even his real name and he wasn't in fact, gay at all!

A text appeared on his phone from his girlfriend saying she missed him and wanted him to go home to see her. He had been lying to Dylan the whole time they were together and as soon as Danial's cheating, straight lying butt returned to the dining room, he was quickly removed by his throat from the premises.

You're probably wondering "Why did he pretend he was gay? And lied to Dylan for 6 months?" Well, the answer was quite simple. 'Daniel' was using Dylan to get his clothing designs noticed by Dylan's company and use Dylan's contacts to sell his designs and earn lots of money for himself. Fucked up I know.

That night Dylan told me that he was over men and is never getting involved in relationships ever again...Well, that was until I started showing him pictures of Zac Effron's naked chest to him and he quickly changed his mind.

That is why my family is so picky and harsh when it comes to accepting new people into the family circle.

"I guess I haven't found the right girl," Jason said after a while then took a big bite of his pasta.

"Well...Isaac has plenty of choices when it comes to girls, heck we might have a grandchild in the near future darling!" Dad said then took a big swig of lemonade. Everyone's eyes turned to him sceptically, including Isaac. Where is dad going with this?

"There were probably loads of ring girls that would prance around in a thong and cheer for you whilst you were getting yourself kille-"

"Stop it Damon! Don't say that about our son! He isn't fighting anymore." Mom cut off dad and sent him daggers through her eyes.

The tension only grew when dad said that mean stuff about Isaac. Grey, Dylan and I lost our appetites and played with our food and kept our heads low but sneakily glanced at each other worriedly how this is all going to turn out.

"Dad I am not fighting anymore! And anyway, there weren't any ring girls there when I was fighting!" Isaac defended himself. Dad laughed at him then leant forward in his chair.

"Isaac, you have had plenty of flings with slutty girls that were probably from that dungeon you go too, and I don't want my grandchildren to have a mother that strides around in circles and holds up cardboard numbers in a sweaty violent hell hole!" Dad roared and slammed his fist down on the table, almost knocking my lemonade over with the impact.

My lemonade recovered but Isaac's temper did not.

"Father you have never accepted any girl I have ever cared about! You don't deserve grandchildren if you can't even accept your own!" Isaac screamed then stormed out the room. Dad growled and threw his chair back and breaking one of its chair legs on the wall. Now I know where Isaac inherits his violence from.

Dad stormed out the back door and sat on the bench outside, looking at the beautiful garden that mom takes care of every day, planting flowers and making it a peaceful place to sit and contemplate.

This isn't the first time that dad and Isaac have argued, they have such similar personalities it gets on the other's nerves sometimes that they end up arguing and wanting to rip the other's throat out. After a day or two they make up, but I don't know how long it will go on for this time.

Mom sighed and put her head in her hands, I jumped out my seat and pulled up a chair next to her, Rubbing circles on her back.

"Why do Isaac and you father always clash together! Why?" Mom said then sobbed in her hands.

"Isaac and dad are so much alike that their personalities always rile each other up," I said quietly whilst hugging the side of her body. She pulled her head out her hands and engulfed me in a bone-crushing hug and wept in my arms.

"You are right my babygirl! You always know how to comfort your mother." Mom said whilst snuggling in my arms. I let out a shaky breath, wondering how dad and Isaac are going to make up over this?

"I will go talk to Dad outside whilst Dylan and Grey talk to Isaac. It will all work out well in the end mom." Jason said then hugged me and mom together.

"Thank you, my children! I love you all so much!" Mom said then violently sobbed and cried in my shoulder. I could feel my t-shirt already wet and drenched from her tears, I hate it when I see her like this. My mom is so kind and doesn't deserve any of this.

She has always told me to find a nice husband and live a happy life, surrounded by positivity and love. She always tries to make this house calm and functioning like a normal happy family, but we all know that it is just a dream and never a reality. The majority of the time, this family is positive and happy but sometimes there are arguments and most of these arguments are between dad and Isaac, we always get through it and make up in the end, but it still breaks my mother each time it happens and I'm always the one to change my shirt every time she has a breakdown, never her husband.

Our family isn't perfect, but can you name me any family that doesn't have their problems?

About an hour of hugging and calming down my mother, dad walks back in with Jason by his side and looks down at my mother regretfully.

I move away from mom and stand by Jason, both of us watching dad crouch down to mom and pull her into his chest and kiss her forehead.

"I'm so sorry baby, I promise to make up with Isaac," Dad whispered in my mom's hair. She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. "You promise to apologise to him, so we can get past this?" Mom asked hopefully. Dad smiled and nodded his head.

Me and Jason snapped out of our staring when we heard three pairs of footsteps stomp down the stairs. Dad stood up and pulled mom up with him. Dylan and Grey entered first, followed by a guilty looking Isaac when he saw his crying mother clinging to her husband's arm.

"Dad I'm sorry I flipped out on you," Isaac said quietly with his head down. Isaac isn't the type of person to apologise to anyone other than family, what he does he thinks is right and he will stand by his actions. But his hard-exterior breaks the second he hurts family, and his emotions and thoughts are transparent to all of us.

"No son don't apologise to me, I shouldn't have said those things about previous girls you've dated. It's in the past and I really don't want to fight with you anymore." Dad said with a small smile that seemed to cheer up Isaac because he walked over and hugged dad tightly.

"Are we good now?" Dylan asked out of breath. Dad and Isaac both nodded at the same time and this brought a huge smile on our mother's face.

"Thank the lord for that! I never thought we would ever stop Isaac's tears!" Dylan exclaimed whilst laughing to lighten the tense mood.

Isaac broke the hug and gave Dylan a murderous glare that made Dylan laugh harder.

"I wasn't crying! I was sweating from my eyes!" Isaac defended and crossed his arms together. I could feel Jason's laughter from the vibrations of his chest on my back, he hugged me from behind and rested his chin on the top of my head.

"Sure bro...sure."
