CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR

Almost half a week has passed since we last saw the wolf, and strangely, there hasn't been any sightings for anything at all. It has been quiet, too quiet.

A shiver passed down my spine, not liking the discomfort.

We've been training everyday, trying to get stronger. At this rate, we'll have the advantage over Fortrista and her rogue army.

A sly smile graced my lips, excited to make the wrench of a woman to pay for everything she has done. Currently, Kronos was outside training, and I had just walked inside to look for Ouranos and Gaia. Training had begun a few hours ago, and it was strange for them to not attend.

Pacing myself up the stairs, I overhear a mixture of groans and moans. I furrowed my eyebrows, eyes narrowed in caution.

Rain grunted out, in pain, 'It's not what you're thinking. Look.'

'You sure? It sounds like Ouranos and Gaia are having the roughest sex I've ever heard in my life,' I say with a hint of sarcasm.

'Well, just look for their door. You'll find a surprise,' Rain sighed, sounding exhausted before cutting the link.

What's up with her?

Following Rain's directions, I find where the sounds were coming from. Before I could open it, my eyes landed on Ouranos, who was currently sitting down helplessly on the wooden floor. His hands were in his face, and he looked simply defeated.

There was a empty bottle of liquor next to him, he seemed dazed.

Ouranos seemed to have smelled my scent, his eyes peering into mine. We stared at each other for a few minutes,  until a scream of what it sounds like climax, interrupted us.

I observed the door, my eyes drifting back to Ouranos. Feeling sad for him, I could only show my compassion through the link. His wolf was whimpering, crying out in sorrow and despair. Betrayal leaked out of Ouranos pores, the anger and disappointment rolling out of him in waves.

Going on one knee until I was at eye level, I ask wearily, "Why are you here Ouranos? You rejected her, remember?"

He bit the inside of his cheek, his words barely audible due to the slurring, "After I rejected her, my wolf went crazy, and I almost ended my life then and there. I came here to set things right, to maybe become friends again with Gaia since we have a son together but seeing my ma- I mean, ex mate," he paused, taking a hard breath in, "getting fucked by another man cleared all my doubts. I realized that she moved on faster than I did, and how foolish I was to think that she would love only me. I regretted the rejection right away, but I guess it's too late to apologize."

I watched Ouranos as he started sobbing, he hated himself for rejecting her but he thought it was right to do so. His own mate had abused and made others do her bidding because she felt as if it were their sons fault. His wolf wanted his mate but he himself didn't want her. It was split between the two, making it painful for him.

He didn't deserve this.

Extending my hand, I grab his shoulder, making him look at me. I chirp out, "On the bright side, you can find someone else now. Ouranos, she moved on. It's your turn to do so as well, because she isn't worth hurting for. Find someone else that is. Yes, it's hard to move on from someone you loved, but the next person will always be twice as better," I pause, adding on, "And remember, never be jealous when you see your ex with someone else. Our parents taught us to give away our used toys to the less fortunate."

Ouranos laughed at that, becoming sober.

"You're right, it might just be that I don't actually miss her. I might miss the memories we had or the future we could have had," he said, sounding hurt.

I nodded, we shared a look, glad that things were settled.

Without warning, one of the pack members voiced in my head, 'Luna! We're being attacked! Help!'

My eyes widened, and that's when a bomb lit off nearby, making a loud echo. The door Ouranos and I were next to opened, Gaia wearing a robe and a male I've seen around but never spoke to was wearing his boxers. They smelt of sex and arousal, I almost choked on the smell.

Gaia's eyes met with Ouranos, but he looked away. Gaia almost looked like she was going to cry, her face showing shame. The male looked confused, but quickly got ready, going out to battle.

I ordered them, "Get out there! We're being attacked. I'll be right behind you!"

The three of them shuffled to their feet, racing downstairs. I followed them, damning myself for not having a link to Kronos. We haven't even marked each other, making it impossible.

As I reached outside of the pack house, I notice a small group of rogues fighting with our army. It was chaos, bodies littered the floor, more of rogues than ours. I haven't seen any bodies that belonged to ours, which was a good sight.

Shifting, I shake my fur, snarling out. My fur bristling up, an intent to harm anyone who was connected to Fortrista. I searched for Kronos as I ripped through every rogue, snapping their heads or slicing it clean off.

Blood covered my blonde fur, making it almost impossible to recognize me.

I teared through another rogue that tried to claw me, but that's when I saw Kronos. Five rogues were on him, trying to bring him down. His wolf was beautiful, a mixture of light brown and grey, his eyes dark gold.

He looked deadly, his claws ripping through anything that came through his way. His wolf screamed dominance of a strong male. One worthy to be my side. But he was always worthy to be by my side.

Rain was impressed but growled at me to pay attention.

Before I could race over to assist Kronos, something glimmered in the corner of my eye. Peering up, I see Fortrista aiming a arrow at my mate. It was a silver arrow, something that could be fatal if used correctly.

Adrenaline rushed through me, my paws picking up the pace as jumped in front of Kronos, shielding his body.

I made a promise to protect him, and I'll do just that.

I felt it then, the jolt of the silver stabbing me to the chest. A loud whine escaped out of me, as I fell to the ground with a thump.

Everything was eerie silent, all wolves looking at their fallen Luna. A sudden rage passed through them, as they finished off their opponents. My eyes skimmed over to where Fortrista was, she wasn't there anymore.

She had escaped and left some of her people here to die.

Black dots threatened my vision, as I felt myself start to lose consciousness. That's when I heard it, the voice that I've been wanting to hear all along. My head turned, seeing my love run towards me in human form.

The one that sent shivers through my spine.

One that I desired to hear all night long.

And one that I would give my life to.

Kronos.

"RHEA!!!"

And everything went black.
