Yuna stared at her phone watching the group chat being spammed by Tooru. During the next day, he was persistent in asking what did the coach discuss with her, but Yuna was adamant on not telling. So, with the follow up of him being curious and it led to him idly looking her way during lunch, but unfortunately to him, she was not going to say anything.

Then when it came to after school, Yuna had quickly left and sent them a message that she had somewhere to go. Hajime had given up trying to stop Tooru in the group chat that was constantly being spammed.

Since there was no practice that day for their team, usually the three of them would hang out after school and just visit a café they heard about.

Yuna leaned on her palm scrolling down the group chat, all of it was Tooru just saying her name or sending crying emojis.

"Yu-chan~ don't let me unread"

"Shut up Trashykawa"

"Shh, let me be annoying a little longer...Yu-chan!!"

"Don't respond, Sugawara, let him continue to beg"

"Iwa-chan! Stop being so mean"

The bell of the café door caught her attention, making Yuna glance up and lock her device and shove it into her pocket. She disliked not responding, but currently, she was not even sure what to say. Although she did have to admit, it was a strange feeling, at the idea of her friends being worried that their coach said something.

Besides her own family, this was the first time she was experiencing this.

Yuna looked up to see the female she was meeting up with," Kiyoko, thank you for meeting with me"

The female nodded and gently smiled at she sat on the chair before her. Before asking her questions, the pair ordered their food and drinks.

"Kiyoko...I know Sawamura-kun was the one who recruited you to be the manager for the volleyball team...Can I ask why you accepted?"

The female blinked before letting out a chuckle," Actually, I rejected it. I was not interested, to begin with"

"Really?" Yuna asked in disbelief

"Yeah, I didn't see the point in it"

Yuna hummed and leaned back on the chair," What made you decide to do it?"

"Well" Kiyoko looked away and smiled," It was actually just seeing the way the team worked so hard. Actually, to put it specifically, it was seeing three first-years who kept trying their best. The three of them...regardless of being ignored by their Senpai's kept working so hard"

"The three...you mean—

"Your brother, Daichi and Asahi" Kiyoko nodded, "It was strange you know, with the team at the time having a lot of members. The three regardless of being benched for so many matches somehow strived to where they are now. I guess seeing that happen, made me think back to my time in middle school. I was part of the track team, but I never made any friends with my team...but seeing the way that the boys who began without being noticed had risen up to being recognized for their aptitude"

"So...it was because of them? Not everyone else?"

Kiyoko chuckled," Yes, it was because of them, but that doesn't mean I only did it for them. I'll admit it was all I strived for, but being part of the team as just a manager, I realized the aspects of what you gain from the position"

"What did you gain?"

"A family," Kiyoko said closing her eyes and placing a hand to her heart," I was finally part of something, even if it was not my intention from the start"

Yuna looked down and thought deeply about how much she had gained with just befriending Hajime and Tooru. She was always dead set on never allowing herself to let people in, but then that moment Hajime approached her—something inside her just said 'it was time to stop being afraid'.

She let him and then Tooru in—also, she can't deny that her small conversations with some of the team members did not make her uncomfortable. These people are not those who hurt her in the past and while letting them in is horrifying, but she didn't need to be afraid anymore.

She wanted to think of this as a chance to stop being afraid of 'what ifs'. This was now not then and Yuna wanted to try her best.

She smiled without restraint, surprising Kiyoko," Thanks you really helped me, Kiyoko"

The female took a moment before smiling back," No problem, Yuna"
