But satisfaction brought it back.

Oh, most certainly not. The more I stood there and listened, the more fear that had seeped into me, my whole body shaking as I had to hold onto the door to keep me steady.

The man stood there as Luna Rose cowered, visibly shaking as he walked towards her. His height and build could easily intimidate anyone.

Except for Kaius, but Luna Rose is practically quivering at his presence.

Luna Rose tried her hardest to keep away from him, her crying getting louder, tears spewing from her eyes, and she covered her mouth to stop the sobs, as he came closer, taunting her with slow steps, and once she was finally pressed up against the wall with no way to escape, he quit playing around and locked her arm in a tight hold with his hand.

"What are you going to do about it?" He sneered, forcing her up closer to him as he continued, "Huh, mate?"

His voice made my skin crawl, the way he said mate rolled off his tongue in a way that made him sound bored, so forced, it sickened me. He laughed, a cold and sinister laugh, as he pushed her off to the side with all his strength. Luna Rose let out a cry of pain as she landed hard on the floor, her arms that came out to protect her face took the brunt of the force.

"I wish I never met you," she sobbed as she looked up at him, "I wish that I had turned you away, just like I wanted to."

"Maybe you should have," he spoke and watched as she struggled to crawl off the floor in her heels, "but you didn't, did you?"

"I was forced to be with you," she hissed once she got up from the ground, "I should have left with my mate when I had the chance. She was better than you."

He leaned down to face her again, "Be careful what you say, Rose, it's still not too late to get rid of her for good."

My knees shook as I backed up slowly, my hand up against my mouth to stop any sound that could slip from my lips, watching as Luna Rose tried to straighten herself up, to look like she hadn't been just assaulted. She fixed her dress by patting it down and pulling at the right places, combing through her hair one last time before turning to leave and giving me the chance to see her face, her bloody lip and bloodshot eyes.

"And remember, Rose, there was no chance," he said threateningly.

I rushed back to the room, running through the hall, careful not to make any clicking sounds with my heels, until I finally got to the doorway.

"Oh non, oh non, oh non, oh non," I kept repeating over and over until I was back in the crowd, breathing heavily. My eyes searched the crowds for Kaius, but I still couldn't see him.

Large, rough hands grabbed my sides, slamming my back into a hard body and I whimpered at the impact as the man continued to move his face down to be close to my ear. "Where have you been?"

"Kaius!" I squealed and jumped from his hold, to only turn around and throw myself into his arms. "Something terrible has happened," I informed him and wrapped my arms around his neck, his arm holding up my waist so that I could reach.

"Besides the fact that you didn't obey simple orders? I'd rather not run around asking everyone if they've seen a tiny blonde wandering-" Kaius put me down, "-this place is bigger than you know."

"Well, thank the heavens that I did go wandering-" I pointed my finger towards his face, "-because I have someone to arrest!"

"You have someone to arrest?" He asked and smirked, tilting his head down to follow where I was looking, "Go ahead, show me the culprit."

I turned on my heels and nodded towards the doorway, "He is up there, in one of the rooms. Oh, you should have seen the way he treated Luna Rose," I pouted.

"And, do you happen to know his name?"

"He called her mate, but he was so forceful towards her, so mean," I told him sadly as I looked up to see him glaring, a scowl on his face.

"I know exactly who you're talking about, but I can't do anything about him, Amoret, not tonight," Kaius wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder.

"Why not?" I whispered, "He hurt her."

"Because it's a celebration, no declaring wars," he told me.

"I don't want to declare a war-" I wiggled my nose at his use of the word, "-I want to get him arrested."

"Well, first, werewolves don't get arrested," Kaius whispered, "and besides, there are people who wish to meet you. You wouldn't want to upset your fans, would you?"

"What are you tal-" Kaius backed off and grabbed my chin, moving it so that I would see the crowd of werewolves again, "-oh."

They were staring at me, looking at me with confusion, interest and awe in their eyes. "They have been waiting to meet you all night and you've been going off trying to get a case like you're some detective."

"They want to meet me?" I asked and fluttered my eyelashes innocently.

"Yes, would you like me to introduce you?" He smiled and already began pulling me along.

His arm wrapped around my waist as we walked, my hands smashed together as I followed nervously, watching as he led me towards a couple who were drinking champagne and their bodies pressed against each other at the sides.

Once the man noticed us, his blue eyes widened, and he nodded over at us, the woman following his line of sight and a smile crossed her face at the sight of us.

"Alpha Kaius," the man greeted and held out his hand, Kaius gladly shaking it as he spoke.

"Alpha Maddox-" Kaius looked at the woman as she pushed her dirty blonde hair over her shoulder, "-Luna Elaine. I would like to introduce the two of you to my lovely mate, Amoret."

My cheeks heated under their gaze, Alpha Maddox smiled and took my hand, "Ah, such a pleasure to meet the woman who has finally calmed the beast-" Kaius shot him a glare, "-don't you think, my dear?" He asked Luna Elaine.

"Of course," she answered, "I was surprised to hear him coming this year, and then to hear him switch the address to here, shocking indeed." Alpha Maddox let go of my hand and put his arm around his mate, a playful look in his eyes as he watched the two of us.

"It's nice to meet you both," I said and Luna Elaine grabbed my hand, squeezing it as she smiled.

"I would have never thought that someone like you could ever have a mate that is a human, I cannot believe it, especially someone so angelic," Alpha Maddox joked with Kaius, I let out a giggle as I felt Kaius wrap his hand around mine.

The rest of the night, I spent my time meeting Alphas and Lunas, Betas and Gammas. I even spotted Luna Rose, looking gorgeous in her dress, with her mate beside her, but I couldn't help to avoid them, especially after seeing him pressed so tightly against her as if she couldn't leave if she wanted to.
