"What do we do?" Asked a panicked Flynn who looked at Andrew with wide eyes. Flynn inched closer to me, almost standing in front of me to the point where most of my sight was on his back, doing it as if he was afraid something would jump out and attack us at any given moment.

Andrew's eyes glossed over, a white sheen lightening his brown eyes for just a second, it left as soon as it came. "Jack says to meet him at the north side of the border."

I watched, shaking, as Rhett and Andrew emerged from the water. Both of them quickly getting dressed and heading towards their destination, Jordan behind us with a hard look in his eyes and Flynn holding onto my arm in a way that I knew it was bruising.

"Flynn," I whimpered, scared and in pain, as he continued to drag me next to him, "what is happening?"

Flynn shushed me, dipping his head down to be next to mine as he spoke lowly, "Our pack is being attacked by another one."

"Where are we going?" I whispered, looking up at him, "Who's attacking? Are we in danger?"

He shushed me again, his facial expressions darkening, before quietly answering with a clipped, "Just keep moving, the border is just up here."

I stayed close to Flynn's side as we all walked, the silence irking me as every bad thought came to mind.

The werewolves attacking, are they killers just like Mama always said?

As we got farther away from where we originally were, I noticed how at one point Flynn tilted his head up slightly, just like a wolf would do, his nostrils flaring and his eyes closed before he turned his head to the side. "Jack," he whispered fondly, hopeful.

Andrew spoke up, "He's near."

The rustle of leaves made me turn to see where the noise was coming from, the trees moving to make room as a wolf flew from the woods and landed on his four paws gracefully but in a stance that showed he was a proper warrior, right in front of us. Andrew smiled at the sight of him, even Flynn let out a sigh of relief as he let go of me to take a step closer to the wolf.

"Jack," Flynn started, "how bad is it?"

The wolf made no sound, just tilted his head to the side to reveal a wound on his neck, teeth marks that were not very deep into his skin, but there was sickening claw marks all over his body that made me cover my mouth and nose from the disgusting smell, metallic and strong.

Andrew stepped up, standing closer as he asked, "How do we avoid it?"

The wolf stood up taller and nodded towards the area he came from, a sour look crossed Andrew's face at the answer he was given, obviously not liking it as he frowned and cursed underneath his breath. "Straight through the open field," Andrew muttered bitterly.

"What does that mean?" Flynn asked.

"The only way out is to go through the attack, Flynn, to move Amoret through the wolves," Andrew answered with his head lowered towards the ground.

"We can't do that, we have to find another way," Flynn pleaded and glanced towards me, a helpless expression on his face. "She'll get ripped apart out there."

I didn't expect to have Jordan put in his opinion, his voice deep and nothing like I would picture him having, "It's the only way."

"I-I can't protect her out there. I'm not ready for anything like this to happen, I'm not trained enough at all," Flynn confessed as he pulled at his curls.

"We got her," Rhett promised as he slung his arm around me, "we'll make sure she's safe."

Flynn sighed, "We should do it now."

"The quicker we get through the crowd, the quicker Amoret can get somewhere safe," Andrew said.

"Then let's go," Flynn announced and stomped forwards, heading towards the open field where the bloodshed was happening.

I followed along, close to everyone because they wouldn't let me move even an inch away from them. Flynn, Andrew and the wolf, Jack, stayed in front of me as they acted as a guide. Rhett kept to my side and Jordan stayed behind me, both of them looked threatening and protective.

As our steps became slower we were finally able to get a taste of the horror we were about to walk into, the sounds of growls filled the air, loud noises that sounded so terrifying and not like anything that I was used to. All of it, turning me into a shaking, stumbling and stuttering mess.

I stopped walking on my own, not copying the rest of them or thinking too much about it, but just stopping. I was hidden behind the tall trees, staring through the empty spaces that showed the attack in front of me.

Wolves were attacking left and right, teaming up to pin their prey down as they snapped at their coats, ripping out fur and chunks of skin, blood pouring out of their wounds as they howled in pain.

I covered a sob with the back of my hand, biting down as I took in the scene in front of me.

"Amoret," Flynn's voice filled my ears, "come on."

Flynn pulled me along with him, the trees seeming to move as if to blur the traumatic picture my eyes were forced to see, to shield me. My hips were crushed against the side of Flynn's leg, his arm wrapped around me tightly as though he was afraid I would fall to the ground.

I don't blame him.

"I'm going to need you to run, okay? But you have to stick to the side," Andrew instructed me with a hard look, one that was telling me not to disobey. I nodded innocently.

We got closer to the attack, just skimming the edges as we stuck to the treeline.

Jack's head suddenly snapped up, a growl slipped past his lips, and he ran off in a rush towards another wolf in battle who was being all but ripped apart by a few of the enemies. Flynn let out a tiny gasp at Jack's departure, but Andrew sprung into action.

Andrew's body snapped and twisted painfully in the air as it cracked, bones seeming to break as fur began sprouting from his body and soon enough, he was no longer in his human body but instead he took the form of his dark brown wolf.

"Don't look, Amoret," Rhett's deep voice whispered into my ear, "you won't like what you see."

I kept my attention on Flynn as I watched him, his eyes never leaving the direction of Jack and Andrew. Flynn mumbled something before turning to me, "We should move."

"I can take Amoret to a safe spot," Jordan suggested, his voice yet again surprising me because he sounded so calm and I've barely heard him talk, "I can get her out of here so that you both can stay and fight."

Flynn looked at him and hesitantly said, "I don't know about that."

"It's alright, it'll be safer for her if we're all there to protect her," Rhett said and pulled my arm with him, getting me away from the alarming show of a wolf fight.

But before we could get any farther the sounds of growls stopped us in our tracks, I stumbled backwards as four big wolves began circling us, snapping their jaws our way.

I let out a whimper, nearly crying as Rhett pulled me behind him. "Rhett, what do we do?"

"There's only one thing to do," Rhett answered, sharing a look with Flynn and before I knew it, both of them were shifting in front of me, their ripped clothes falling on the ground as they growled back. Rhett's blond coloured wolf much bigger than Flynn's own wolf.

They bit and clawed at each other as I stumbled backwards until I hit a tree, my back against the bark as I struggled to take in air, the shock filling my veins. I moved, wanting to run but I found myself falling straight into someone's arms.

"I hate to do this to you, Amoret," his deep voice spoke as his arms caged me in, I held back a gasp at the sound of his voice, "but orders are orders, and I don't like disappointing my Alpha."

His shy act was no longer there as I looked up to him, turning in his hold to be able to see his cold eyes staring down at me with a smirk on his lips. His hand circled around my head until he had a good grip on my light blonde hair, leaning down closer.

"I really am sorry, Amoret," he whispered before he slammed my head against the near tree. My vision went blurry as I started feeling dizzy, I had the urge to reach up and touch the spot that had hit the tree but I didn't have the strength in me to do so. The last thing I remember is being lifted up into his strong arms.

W O R D  C O U N T : 1602

No clue how well this is written, there's just so much words. This has got to be the longest chapter I have in this whole story.

Actually, this wasn't the original idea for this but I decided to change it and turn it into this.

Oh, and I promise that her mate will be in the next chapter.

Enjoy!
