I went home late because I had a project to finish with Lola and some classmates. It was dusk and the sun was already starting to set. When I climbed into the bus, I was lucky enough to find an empty seat at the very back. Leaning my elbow against the window, I looked outside, admiring the tinges of orange and red, mixed with a darkening shade of purple to welcome night fall.

While gazing at the palette of colors, my mind started to drift in thought. I thought of how I was sexually harassed by someone on the bus this morning, how the person I had a one-night stand with ended up being my new substitute teacher, how the guy who saved me from getting grinded actually took the same classes as me, and how despite all the shit I've been through in this single day, I was still eager to go home to the person who gave me bruises and who made my life on living Hell.

"My life is a complete mess," I groaned to myself, leaning forward and hitting my forehead against the seat in front. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out, unlocking the screen with a frown. It was from my sister.

Yoon Ah: When are you coming home?

I read the sentence multiple times, my lips pressed together as I started to type back.

Me: When mom and dad are willing to accept me.

Staring at the message, I quickly deleted it and tapped in something else.

Me: Mom and dad are the ones who disowned me, it's not for me to decide.

My thumb hovered over the 'send' button but I couldn't find myself to press it. I let out a tired sigh, quickly deleting everything and turning off the screen without giving a reply. I rarely ever responded to her messages and I haven't seen my sister for almost two years now.

I cut all ties with my family members since I graduated high school. Well, it was more of a mutual thing than one-sided, my parents were the ones who kicked me out first. My sister was the only one who I still kept in contact with, just to let her know that I was still alive since she was the only one in my family who actually cared about me. Or at least, pitied me.

My head tilted back, a grim smile on my face.

The only 'home' that I had was with Jax.

When I got off the bus, I decided to go to a convenience store and buy some food for tonight. I didn't know if Jax had eaten or not, so I bought two pasta boxes just in case. I placed the pre-made food in my basket, but frowned.

Jax was a model and I remembered hearing him argue with his manager who had come over to pick him up, telling him that he needed to watch what he ate since it could influence his weight and skin. I knew Jax for almost four years now and I knew that he had a quick metabolism. The guy could eat absolute trash and still look like he just finished a hardcore gym session. But I was worried that he might get scolded by his manager again and decided to take the pasta boxes out, replacing them with pre-made salad that had the salad sauce placed separated from the vegetables.

I knew that I could have bought a salad for him only, but he'd probably start complaining about how I got to eat a proper meal (mind you, we're talking about industrialized pasta boxes here) while he had to eat overpriced leaves that tasted like air. Aside from his psychopathic, sadistic personality, he sometimes acted like a kid. And it was cute.

I scowled. Lola would probably beat the crap out of me if she heard me say that.

I paid for the food and headed to my apartment, taking the elevator to the fourth floor and sliding my key into the lock.

"Jax, I'm-"

I stopped in my steps, closing my mouth shut as I saw Jax sound asleep on the couch. The evening sunlight slanted gold upon his face, bringing out his nicely tanned skin.

A beautiful golden boy.

I carefully took my shoes off and put on my slippers, putting down the groceries and keys on the table before walking towards him in quiet steps. I examined Jax's face with lips pressed into a firm line as my heart pounded louder against my chest.

He looked peaceful. His features were much softer, innocent almost. His mischievous eyes were hidden behind closed lids, protected by long, dark lashes. The twisted, sardonic grin that was always plastered on the edges of his lips now replaced by a soft line.

A tragedy.

I reached out and gently pushed away a few strands of hair that fell over his forehead, holding my breath as I traced my fingers down the curve of his prominent jaw.

My tragedy.

His eyes opened and a gasp escaped my mouth, jolting up and almost tripping back.

"Trying to seduce me in my sleep? How cute," he chuckled in a raspy voice, deeper than usual. My eyes narrowed.

And Jax the jackass was back.

"Why are you taking a nap at this hour anyway?" I grumbled. It was merely seven.

His eyes fluttered, the deep hues of his pupils captivating more color. He sat up with an innocent smile that didn't look as pure as it should be. "I fell asleep waiting for you to come home."

My heart fluttered at his lies and I replaced my happiness with an eye roll.

"Yeah, right," I snorted, turning around to head to the kitchen. But he grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him, my knee now pressed against the couch, between his legs, with one hand against his chest while the other was held in his.

"Don't believe me?" He teased.

"I want to."

"Then believe me," he said cheekily, his right hand slipping into my shirt and roaming the surface of my skin. I bit back a moan, trying my best not to lose to him.

"You're going to have to try a little harder if you want me to believe your lies," I mocked. I tried to get off of him, but he refused to let me go. He looked me in the eyes and my entire body froze, almost as if he was working some kind of hypnotism with his dark shades of blue. His smile was replaced with an expression of worry, and his voice and touch became gentler; softer.

"I was worried that you wouldn't come home tonight, I mean it," he whispered, nuzzling the side of my neck. My breath hitched at his words. "Ji Hoon, I missed you."
