Chapter 28: First Date

(NOT EDITED)

I opened the huge white box and inside lay folded perfectly inside was a champagne/ golden gown folded into a square. I drew it out of its box and shook it out, and then it revealed its true glory. It was my symbol of elegance. The lustrous, pearl-beaded fabric of my dress glinted, light reflecting from the ballrooms glow. It fit flawlessly; the dress molded my torso beautifully, complimenting my feminine shape. The gown draped past my toes, slightly drifting from my legs. It was the color of a tan opal. Its strapless style revealed my precious collarbones wrapped in smooth, luring, skin. My posture was perfect, my shoulders were pulled back and my hands were held together in front of me. There was a silk band at the top, lining around the top of the bust.

After two hours of doing my hair and make- up I stared at my reflection.  Long, layered, brunette hair, set in large loose curls With fringe loosely pulled back from face and pinned to secure. I applied codes of massacre and eyeliner on to my eyes and the first time in my life my eyes stood out. My deep brown soulful eyes looked so captivating, yet unnerving, and as I stared into them, a strange sensation of something hidden came upon me.

I didn’t look like Naina that I thought I was. I looked like me. I grabbed the small piece of paper and read it over and over again.

Don’t be late my love. Your carriage waits at seven.

                                                From your Prince.

It was finally happening. Even though me and Ethan had kissed multiple times and even laid next to each other in bed we were finally having out first date.  I was nervous. I could feel multiple butterflies spreading in my stomach as they fluttered constantly inside.

Ethan had gone all out. When I woke up this morning he wasn’t there to greet me instead a box with this beautiful dress inside of it. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Ethan was truly treating me like a princess.

With his whole family gone, I waited in the living room tapping my foot as I stared at the clock. It was one minute away from seven and the nerves were finally getting to me. This was only my second date. What if I screw up? What if I do something so gross he has to break up with? I decide to push all those thoughts away when I heard the doorbell ring.

I open the door and my eyes burst out of my socket as I stare at my transportation. It was an actual carriage. It was the one I use to dream about. It was the exact one from the famous movie Cinderella. It was the one that I use to pretend I would drive in on my wedding day.

I step into the little house like car and let the driver ride the horse towards our destination. Moment passed until we had finally reached a small house. The driver stopped the carriage and help escort me to the floor.

After he left, I notice a pathway of roses and candle lights on each side clearing a pathway. I walk down the red pathway letting my feet sink in the flowers. My heart beat raised tremendously each step I took. My breath began to become shallower as my palms began to sweat. As each moment past, I had to remind myself to breath, and then it happen I saw my destination.

It was a large white pavilion, with vines surrounding it. It was covered with white flower sticking from the vines, and most of all there were golden Christmas lights entangling it. In the background there was the view of a large blue lake. It was the most breath taking view, and then I saw my prince standing in the middle of it all.

I couldn’t help, but let the smile over take me. My feet began to move rapidly and the next thing I did was jump into his arms. He twirled me around in the air and I couldn’t help, but let my laugh over take the silent night.

When he slowly let my body go, I captured him in a kiss. I could never get use to the feeling of his lips on mines. It was a mixture of every single happiness I have ever experience wrapped into one moment. His delicate lips moved in sync with mines as I tasted the peppermint of his lips. I could feel a smile on his lips as he continued to deepen the kiss .I pulled away much to his protest, and embraced him in one more passionate hug.

“Thank you.” I whispered into his ear. I slowly detached myself away from him. I let my chocolate eyes meet his forest one. “You didn’t have to do all of this.”

“You deserve it. It’s the least I could do. Especially after all the trouble I have caused between you and your family.” Ethan replied. I couldn’t help, but shake my head in protest.

“You didn’t do anything. I chose you. I chose you over my family and I don’t regret for one second.” I said grabbing his hand and intertwine his hands with mine.

“Okay enough of this depressing stuff. I don’t want this night to be depressing like all the other nights have been, but instead I want it to be just about me and you. No one else, or nothing else matters except us.” I couldn’t help, but agree. Me and Ethan deserved a night off from our problems.

“So what do you have in store prince charming?” I teased.

“Well I shall show you my lady” He said bowing, and then grabbing my hand with his pulling me closer to him. We were ballroom dancing. I would laugh, but for some reason as silly as it sound this ballroom dancing was so intimate that it was intoxicating.

I remember when I was a little girl I use to watch Disney movies, and would wonder how it felt to be with a man so close. I would wonder how it felt to be in a man’s arms and dance till the night’s ends, and today I understood how significant one dance could be.

Its as if you bodies become the communication and the movement is the tone. The rhythm is the speed and the dancers are the topic. Nothing in the world matters except your partner and what you are doing with them, to them, for them. It’s just you and the floor. The lust and passion that comes with it is excruciating.

“I love you Ethan.” I mumbled into his chest as I felt his heart beat speed at my touch. I couldn’t help, but smirk at the control I had over his body. Ethan took his index finger and pulled my face so we were looking at each other in the eye.

“I have something for you.” He told me as he began to dig out of my pocket. It was a box. It look like a box with a ring in it. My eyes widen in shock. He was going to propose to me, but we are so young for Christ sakes this is our first date.

Ethan laughed at my reaction. “Its not an engagement ring.” He said between his laughs.

I narrowed my eyes and shifted my feet. “ I knew that.” I whispered.

“Sure you did.” He said while rolling his eyes.

“Then what in the box.” I asked.

“It’s a promise ring.” He said while slowly revealing the diamond ring. I could describe to you how beautiful the ring was, but I didn’t see the ring. I saw the meaning behind it.  It meant Ethan wants me . It meant Ethan saw this relationship as something serious and not just another fling. It was a symbol for love, commitment to a person, devotion, and loyalty. It meant a future.

“I just wanted to let you know, that you didn’t make the wrong choice by picking me.” He said breathlessly as he slipped the ring on to my slim fingers.

“I know I didn’t, but this just confirms it.” I said smiling at the ring.
