Aasha's Pov

Sitting in front of the dressing table, I looked at myself in the mirror. I really look so beautiful in this emerald colour lehenga with a simple make up. The lehenga is not so heavy. Its soft and silky and very comfortable. The jewels are also is according to my liking, simple yet beautiful. Dev really knows my preference very well. I smiled looking at my reflection in the mirror.

Suddenly i heard someone opening the door. I stood up from my chair to see who it is. My gaze fixed on the person who is standing in front of me. I can't look away from the person. His neatly jelled hair gives an intimidating auro around him and makes him looks so handsome at the same time. When i met him in Manali, he had grown full beard like a bush which made him looks like a rough, emotionless and dangerous man. That day I felt like he is very different from the Dev i had kown from. Now he has trimmed his beard just like one year before. Now only he looks like my Dev. My Dev.... My eyes filled with tears when i noticed his sherwani's colour.

I recalled what i said to him when he made a marriage proposal to me.

I want all rituals like Haldi, Mehandi, sangeet in our marriage. And we can wear the same colour outfits for all functions. We should invite orphanage children and father and my friends Riya, Rocky and Shreya. We should also invite your friends and other office staffs and business partners.

He still remembers all my words. Even after this one year seperation he still remembers my words. I looked down at the floor feeling emotional. I felt him coming near me.

"Everyon is waiting for us. Lets go" he said with a plain voice grabbing my wrist softly. I looked at him shocked when he stressed the word 'everyone'.

"Whats with that look? You forgot about our family? Or.... Are you ashamed to face them, ha?" he asked me in his cold tone. He is right. I can't face them after what i did to them. I just ran away without saying anything to them. How can i face them now?

"Dev....i can't..." i said with my teary eyes.

"Don't start again. Now come" saying this he dragged me out of the room. I felt very nervous. My heart thumped loudly against my chest when i thought of meeting everyone after one year. I don't know what they are thinking about me. I don't how they will look at me. Will they hate me now? We both descended from the stairs. Then only i noticed the whole mansion is decorated with flowers. The whole mansion looks so beautiful with the decorations.

"Finally my daughter is here" i heard the voice. I saw papa standing along with all the family members with a bright smile.

"Papa" i said with a smile while controlling my tears.

"What papa? What about me? You forgot about your Ma?" Meghna ma asked me while wiping her tears coming near me taking my both hands in hers. When i saw maa with her teary eyes i failed to control my tears.

"Maa...sorry" i cried looking down.

"Shhh. Don't cry, beta. Today is your mehandi and sangeet. You should not cry today" she said while cupping my face.

"Aasha, you forgot about this chachi, ha? Do you know how angry i am on you?" Chachi asked me angrily turning me towards her by grabbing my wrist. I looked at chachi's angry face.

"I... am sorry, Chachi" i said while biting my lips.

"Don't cry. Look how thin you became" she said wiping my tears while sniffling. I looked at her in my blury gaze.

"Don't make my daughter cry" Chachu said while patting my head. I looked at him with a smile.

"Chachu" i said looking at him.

"You just left without saying anything. Do you know how worried we were all?" he asked me with a sad smile. I looked down feeling ashamed of my behavior.

"I am really sorry, chachu. I... " i said not meeting his gaze.

"No problem. Now don't cry" he said wiping my tears. Soon papa came near me.

"What you did is wrong, Aasha beta. But that doesn't mean we all are angry on you. We are just disappointed on you" Papa said patting my head.

"I am sorry, Papa" i said looking down.

"Don't say sorry again and again. Its not time to cry. Its time for celebration. We can talk this after the function" he said patting my cheek caringly with a smile.

"Yeah! Its time for celebration, bhabi" Ananya said wrapping her hand around my shoulder.

"Ananya, how are you?" i asked looking at her smiling face.

"I really missed you bhabi. Really missed you. That's why i even postponed my marriage with Ranvir. Because i wanted my two bhabis in my marriage. Even Neha bhabi and Varun bhai also postponed their wedding" she said with her glassy eyes. Her words made me stunned. I looled at Neha who stood beside Anu. She smiled looking at me.

"I am sorry, Anu" i said kissing her forehead.

"Please don't say sorry, bhabi" she said wiping my tears.

"Let me introduce myself to my bhabi, Ananya" someone said behind me. I turned to look at the person. He has a same features as Chachu. He also looks handsome. Then only i realised he is Aakash, anu's brother. I once had a video chat with him and also saw his photos in this house.

"Hello bhabi. I am Aakash, your brother-in-law. We already had a chat through video call. But it was a year before" he said with a cheeky smile.

"Hi, Aakash. Good to see you" i said with a smile.

"Hope you hadn't forgot about your another brother-in-law" Varun said coming near me. I smiled at him.

"Of course. I remember you" i said looking at him with a smile.

"You really made us all worried. Especially my Dev bhai. But now i am happy that you are here" he said with a smile. I just smiled at him and looked at Dev who is standing near Sameer bhai. Sameer bhai raised his hand at me with a bright smile and walked towards me.

"Hope you remember this bhai of yours" he said patting my head like a big brother.

"How can i forget about my only brother?" i said in my choked voice.

"See everyone. You all made my sister cry in her own Mehandi ceremony" he said kissing the crown of my head.

"How are you, bhai?" i asked him.

"I am fine" he said cupping my face.

"Where is Zarah?" i asked him with a frown.

"She is in out of town. But she will sure attend your marriage. Don't worry" he said patting my cheek.

"We should start the function. Guest all are waiting. Come with me, beta" Ma said stroking my hair. I shook my head at her.

"Ma, the reason why i left you all is not a simple matter" i said looking at her face.

"Whatever your reason is, we don't care. Lets start the ceremony" Dev said in a strict tone while giving me his death glare. I turned away from him to Ma.

"Ma, please hear my words. After hearing my words if you all still want to do this Mehendi function, then i won't say anything. But please hear my words" i pleaded her.

"Okay then. We will hear your words first before starting the ceremony" Ma said with a smile.

"I.... can't get.... pregnant" i said looking down closing my eyes tightly. Everything went silent.

"Wha... what are you saying?" Chachi asked me. I could feel her surprised tone. But i didn't dare to look at anyone's face.

"In that accident i lost the ability to become a mother" i said controlling my urge to weep.

"I can't give you a grandchild. I can't carry Dev's child. Then how can i stay with him. I had no options except leaving him. He is the one who brought happiness in my life. But i can't give him any happiness. I can't bring happiness to this family. That's why i chose to leave him instead of staying in his life like a burden" i said wiping my tear stained cheeks looking at Dev. I frowned when i saw Dev's blank expression.

"Aasha beta, we all know how big that accident was. But Dev arranged the country's best doctors to treat you. He even brought best doctors from abroad. Not only one doctor but totally six doctors. They all said the same thing that your legs and hands are injured and it will take at least half a year to get cured. None of them said that you have complications in getting pregnant" Ma said cupping my face. It took me a few minutes to process the information. I looked at her confused. No...that day that doctor said that my uterus is damaged in the accident so i could never get pregnant.

"You're perfectly fine, beta. Even if there were complications like you have mentioned, what do you think of this Malhotra family? You think this Malhotra family will abandon you just because you can't give a heir to this family? We would have gone for treatment instead of seperating you and Dev. Even if there was no chance for treatment then we would have gone for adoption. We are a family, beta. We would have found solution for the problem together. You should have discussed it with Dev before taking any decision" Papa said gently placing his hand on my head. My head started to spin hearing his words. I don't know what to say. Did i take the decision in haste? Hearing Papa's words, i feel more guilty. Even after what i did everyone is still loving me. Everyone is still supporting me. So this is how a family should be. No matter whatever mistakes you do, they will correct you and support you and gives you their love. But....if it were not for that doctor i would not have took that decision. I would never have left Dev. Ma is also right. Dev would never give up untill he makes sure that i am perfectly alright. Then where did i go wrong? What's the truth? Did someone tricked me? Who was that doctor? Why she lied to me? A lot of question filled my mind.

"Tell me what did that doctor said?" Dev asked bringing me out of my own thoughts. His bloodshot eyes scared me.

"Its not time, Dev. Anu, Neha you two go and help Aasha to fix her make up" Chachu said. Then they both took me to my room. After fixing my make up we came to the garden which was decorated with colorful cots and pillows. There was also a stage prepared for sangeet. Guests were chatting happily. Ma and Chachi made me sit on the cot. And a bowl of Mehendi which is decorated with few rose petals kept near the coffee table.

Then two girls started to apply mehendi on my hands and another two girls on my legs. Music played and everyone started to dance happily. But my mind is totally disturbed. Did i waste one whole year staying away from Dev for nothing? I just can't believe what is happening now. I felt a throbbing ache in my head. Suddenly someone closed my eyes.

"Guess who i am!" said the person behind me. When i heard the voice i was surprised.

"Riya?" i said with a smile.

"Didn't i tell you that my Aasha will never forget about me?" Riya said removing her hand from my eyes. Then only i noticed my friends all are here. Riya, Rocky, and Shreya. Seeing them all here i really felt happy.

"How is my, Aasha doing?" Riya asked me with a sad smile.

"I am good" i said hugging her.

"Aasha?" Rocky called me with a sad face.

"Rocky, how are you?" i asked him.

"I should be the one asking you that question. Why you just left like that? Why you didn't share your problems with me? Don't you consider me as your brother? Have i not treated you like my little sister?" he asked me in his sharp tone. I was taken aback when he talked to me like that. He never talked to me like this.

"I.... that... " i stuttered looking here and there.

"Rocky just stop it. Today is her Mehendi. Don't scold her" Riya scolded Rocky while wrapping her arms around my shoulder. He just turned his face away from me with a huff.

"Aasha, don't take his words to heart. Rocky was very worried when we all came to know from Mr. Mehra that you went somewhere without saying anything" Shreya said looking at me with a smile. I nodded at her.

"How are you, Shreya?" i asked her.

"Fine. Just missed you a lot. And it was Mr. Malhotra who invited us all here" she said giving le her beautiful smile. Then i looked at Rocky who stood there with a grumpy face. I went near him.

"Rocky, i am sorry for not saying anything before leaving Mumbai. I didn't said anything not because i don't consider you as my brother but because of the complicated situation. I have two brothers. One is you and another one is Sameer bhai. So don't be mad at me. Please forgive me na" i said in my soft tone looking at his sad eyes.

"Okay okay. You're forgiven. Don't make me cry now" he said squeezing my cheeks. I smiled seeing his smiling face.

"Okay now you apply Mehendi and watch our performances" saying this Riya left with Rocky and Shreya for the stage. Ananya, Neha, Riya, Shreya, Varun, Aakash, Rocky everyone danced for Bollywood songs. They even brought Papa, Ma, Chachi and chachu on stage to dance. I was smiling so hard when i saw how ma and Chachi blushed dancing with Papa and Chachu. But still my eyes for searching for the only person who is missing in this ceremony. Dev.... I was searching for him but i don't know where he went. He is missing in his own sangeet.

"Mam, what's your fiance's name?" the girl who is applying mehendi on my hands asked me. I looked at my hand which is now filled with mehendai design. One year before i dreamt of writing his name on my hand in my mehandi function. But after whatever happened i thought that day would never come in my life. That's also the one of the reason why i tattooed his name. And today the day had come where i am going to write his name on my hand. Life is full of surprises. We don't have any say in whatever happens in our life. Be is good or bad. We can't stop them from happening.

"His... His name is Dev" i said not trying to blush. The girl smiled at me and wrote his name in cursive letters in between the beautiful mehendi design.

"I wrote your man's name here, mam. In your Wedding night he would have a hard time in finding his name on your hand. I am very sure about it" she said with a chuckle making me go all red. Soon they finished applying mehendi on my hands and legs. My whole body is aching. My legs went totally nump.

"You all did great. Thank you" i said looking at the girls who applied mehendi.

"No mention, mam" saying this they left.

"Its so beautiful, beta. Where did you write Dev's name?" Ma asked me sitting beside me. I showed her where his name is.

"oho its written so small. He would definitely not going to find it out" Chachi said with a pout. I chuckled looking at her. Suddenly Mehendi lagake rakhna song played. My friends forced me to dance. When i got up from my place i was stumbled due to my numb legs but suddenly someone caught my waist. I looked at the person with my wide eyes.

"Careful" he said making me sit on the couch back.

"Aasha, you okay?"Chachi and ma asked me with worried face. I nodded at them with a smile.

"Aasha bhabi and Dev bhai, now its your turn to dance" Aakash said in his excited voice.

"Its not good for her legs to dance. Its doctor's advice. You all go and enjoy" Dev said looking into my eyes.

"Dev is right. You all go and dance. Aasha is already tired" Chachi said making everyone pout sadly and they all left without saying anything.

"Dev, stay with her. I will go and bring something for her to eat. She must be hungry by now" Ma said smiling at me. She knows me well. I was already hungry. Now i can eat something. I too smiled at her. Chachi winked at me and everyone left the place leaving me and Dev alone. He sat closer to me making my breath hitched. I am wearing mehendi till my calf. And the mehendi has not yet dried. So the girls who applied mehendi asked me to to lift my lehenga till my mehendi gets dry. So when he sat closer to me i felt awkward with my exposed legs.

"Come forward" he said looking at me intently. I frowned not understanding his words.

"Huh?" i asked him with a confused look.

"You must be having cramp on your waist. So come forward then i can place this pillow behind your back" he said indicating the pillow in his hands. I smiled at how caring he is towards me. But still his voice and eyes are devoid of any emotions. His face remained cold.

"Okay" i said softly and moved forward so that he can place the pillow. After placing the pillow he looked at me and i also looked at him. Our gaze locked with each other's. The sky already turned dark. His hair fluttered softly in the gentle breeze.

"Where... were you the whole time?" i asked him hesitantly to start a conversation.

"Why?" hchapter? me lifting his eyebrows.

"I was looking for you. But you were not here. Thats why i asked" i said meeting his cold gaze. He gave me a mocking chuckle while his eyes turned even more cold making me shudder.

"I was also looking for you the whole year. But you were not anywhere" he said looking into my eyes with his mocking smile. I felt a piercing pain in my heart when i heard his words. I looked down to hide my tears.

"The reason which you gave in front of everyone is really ridiculous. A doctor came and said that you can't get pregnant and you believed it? You just left so that i could move on from you and live a happy life with another girl. Who gave you the rights to take decision on your own in our relationship?" he asked me through his gritted teeth. I bite my lips to control my sobs. I looked down not able to meet his accusing gaze.

"I.... am sorry" i said sniffling.

"Keep your sorry to yourself. I want all details about whatever happened between you and the doctor. The minute when you said about the doctor, i wanted to drag you to my room and wanted to know all details. But because of this function i couldn't able to do that. Tonight don't go to sleep. You have to give me a full explanation. Got it?" he asked me sternly wiping my tears
