 Chapter 7-

~Ainsley's POV~

I hauled my equipment out of the janitor closet, scowling when I saw Geek stroll down the hall towards me. I lifted my chin and waltzed out the entrance doors, relieved to see that people were already driving away in buses and getting into their cars.

I walked down the steps and crossed to the parking lot, setting my paint, rag, and paintbrush on the ground. I had JUST straightened up when someone's hands covered my eyes and everything went black.

"Peek-a-boo." I turned around, grinning, and leapt into his arms.

"KYLE! YOU'RE BACK!" I shouted happily, wrapping my legs around his torso. He hugged me back and laughed.

"Yeah, France was a blast. Those French babes..." I smacked him on the arm.

"Please tell me you didn't actually seduce one." I gave him a Look. His grin only stretched wider.

"Nope. I found out they just can't handle this," he motioned to his body and I rolled my eyes, wiggling out of his grasp and sliding down until I stood on my feet again.

"Oh sure, sure, that's the reason. Face it, Palmer. They're just not into you." He gave me a horrified face and glanced down at his body in disbelief.

"You've gotta be kidding me! I was the hottest guy on the streets!"

"Which isn't saying anything..." I muttered under my breath. He glared at me and crossed his arms, his lower lip jutting out.

 "Just kidding!" I said brightly.

"You better be. Now, what's this about detention?" Kyle asked, eyeing the painting equipment next to my feet.

 I shrugged. "I punched a guy."

"NICE!" he whooped. "Wait... why? Did he touch you? Was it that d-bag Landon?" he interrogated me mercilessly, his tone angry.

"Calm down! Sheesh, Kyle. You know as well as I do that I can take care of myself." I smirked at him and he sighed in relentance.

"That doesn't mean you should always have to. But seriously, was it that Landon guy?"

"Nope." I said, popping the 'p'. I bent down and removed the lid of the white paint, throwing the rag over my shoulder again and dipping the brush into the creamy whiteness.

"Holy crap. Ainsley, did you get in a fight?" Kyle asked, his eyes wide in excitement and disbelief. I grinned mischievously.

"Maybe..." I waited until his jaw dropped slightly before laughing.

"As if. I just punched some nerd who happens to be the new student." I shrugged and kneeled down, repainting the parking line with wide, strong strokes.

 "Why?"

 "He insulted me."

 "How?"

"Jeez, Kyle! This isn't twenty questions." I said exasperatedly. He rolled his eyes and sat on the curb.

"So? I'm curious and answers satisfy that curiosity." he picked at the fraying lace on his expensive sneakers.

"He insulted me. I punched him. I get yelled at. I take him to the nurse's office. I get detention. End of story." I briefed him, cutting out the part about Landon and his mindless groupies. What he didn't know didn't hurt him.

"Must've been pretty insulting for you to punch him," he commented aloud. I shrugged one shoulder and dipped the brush in the paint again.

 "Eh."

"Who's that?" Kyled asked. I lifted my head and looked up as Geek walked out of the doors, can of paint in one hand, a brush swinging from the other, scanning the parking lot.

"That's him." I growled. Kyle whipped around again and gave Geek a complete, probing look over.

"Weird. He's kind of tall for a nerd." I rolled my eyes.

 "And?"

 "I don't know."

"Well that's helpful." I said sarcastically. Kyle huffed and watched me repaint the lines. I worked quietly for a few minutes before a shadow loomed over me.

"Should I start on the other side?" Geek asked. I continued to paint without looking at him.

"What do I look like? The instructor? I don't care. Just make sure you work fast enough so that we can get it all done before five thirty." I snapped. Geek sighed and stepped over my freshly painted line, setting up his equipment across from me, and got on his knees.

"Hey... I've seen you before." Kyle said confusedly. I kept painting, ignoring their idle chitchat.

"Uh, yeah. You knocked me over after lunch in the hallway." Geek replied. I stifled a giggle. Kyle had knocked Geek over?

"Oh, that's right." Kyle said, waving him off as if he weren't important. I frowned. Had Kyle meant to push Geek over, just because he was nerdy? I wouldn't put it past him which is why I started pondering this.

"Yeah..." Geek trailed. He began painting the fading lines, replacing them with the vibrant, clean white.

"Well, I better go. Later Ainsley." Kyle stood and stretched, and I flickered my gaze up to him as he grinned broadly.

"Yup." I grunted, my arm stretching out to paint the furthest line from me. Kyle's tall shadow disappeared and I kept working. Every so often Geek would stop and I could feel his gaze boring into me, silently telling me to look up, but I ignored it until I couldn't handle it any longer.

"What." I spat, glaring over at him. He pursed his lips, which were surprisingly unchapped and not horrible looking, and his gaze wandered off as he thought of what he was going to say.

"I'm sorry I blamed you earlier. It's not entirely your fault. You DID save me on more than one occasion," he rambled. Now I felt bad. He was just so... harmless. He drowned in his oversized. geeky clothing. His hair was horrible and needed attention stat, and those glasses... I nearly shuddered.

"So... thanks." he said meekly. I couldn't help but notice the begrudging tone in his voice.

 "Whatever." I said blandly.

"Now we're back to the ice princess," he mumbled under his breath.

"ExCUSE me?" I demanded, pausing in midstroke. I didn't care if the paint was dribbling down off the brush and pooling under it. Had I heard him correctly?

Geek did something I least expected. He smirked, turning his lips into a beautiful shape. I mentally slapped myself for thinking that.

"You heard me." he said cockily. I shot him daggers, outraged. I was NOT an ice princess! I may be a bit detached, but I smiled! I could be nice! I proved that when I volunteered to help him paint this stupid parking lot. Before I could process what I was doing, I flicked the dripping wet white paintbrush at him, white paint flying off and splattering him.

"You did NOT just do that." he said, shocked. I smirked.

"I just did." My eyes widened in disbelief as a mischievous, playful smile crossed his features.

"Two can play this game." he said, right before splattering me with HIS paintbrush.

I shrieked. "YOU JERK!" And dunked my brush into the can again, all the way up to my wrist. I yanked it at and whipped it in his direction, growling in frustration when he darted to the side, letting the paint splash the gravel.

"You missed." he pointed out mockingly.

"URGH!" I yelled. My temper flared as Geek laughed, a nice, full laugh that made me want to smile. SMILE? WAS I INSANE? THIS GUY JUST SPLATTERED ME WITH PAINT!

"Ooooh is the ice princess getting mad? Aww, I feel soooo bad..." he taunted me.

"That is IT! COME HERE, DICKWAD!" I screamed, jumping up. I hurled my paintbrush at him and he ducked, giving me a goofy grin.

 "Wow, you have terrible aim."

I slid out of my shoes, letting out a banshee scream as I hurled a stiletto at his face. He raised his arm and blocked it, and it clattered to the ground harmlessly.

"Oh I'm SO scared." he snickered. I hurled my other shoe at his leg and he jumped, nearly doing the splits, as it flew between them.

"How pathetic." I growled as I hauled up my can of paint, stalking towards him with the fiercest glare I'd ever had to give. The idiot only smiled and backed away slowly, as if he didn't have a care in the world.

"Pathetic my ass! If you kept still-"

"Now why would I do that? It's not as if you really have the guts to-" I let out a yell as I swung my can backwards and threw it at him, paint raining on the ground. Geek stood there, soaked in the white paint. I smirked triumphantly.

"Oh really? Look who's laughing now!" I barked out, grinning crazily. Geek did another shocking thing. He wiped the paint off his face and grinned devilishly. My confidence lowered slightly, my hands on my hips stance feeling less triumphant.

"You're not the only one who'll be laughing..." he lunged at me and I shrieked, spinning around and sprinting away.

"YOU CAN'T RUN FOREVER, GINGER!" he yelled after me. I stopped.

 "GINGER?!"

"What, are you deaf now?" I screamed out of frustration, debating whether to tackle him or continue running. He lunged at me again and I automatically began running, only this time I had a goal.

I ran to his paint can, scooping it up and whipping around to face him. I could barely hold in my laughter as I scanned his white, soaking wet figure, my laughter battling with my anger. How dare he mock me! That little nerd was going to face the wrath.

"No, but you're so going to get it." I growled. Geek spread his arms wide.

 "Come and get me, babe!"

"BABE?!" I screeched. My temper flew off the charts as my mind snarled at the insult. Landon had called me that and I hated it.

"So you are deaf... babe." Geek said, that stupid, STUPID smirk on his face.

 "THAT'S IT YOU PIECE OF-"

"Now, now, no need to swear-"

"YOU LITTLE TURD!" I screamed, swinging the paint can back. Luck really must hate me because right as I was launching the bucket forward, Simon walked out the doors. Too late.

The paint flew out and Geek dodged to the side, ducking and rolling, painting the ground with his shape. I closed my eyes and bit my lip, turning to face Simon.

 "Simon, it's not my-"

 "AINSLEY. BLYTHE. WINTERRRRSSSS!!!!!!" he bellowed.

 Ah, crap.

Make my day! :D This was the funnest chapter to write, EVER! Orginally, they were not going to have a paint war/fight but I just thought 'hey, why not?' The chemistry between them is AMAZING. I love how he keeps egging her on purposely, and she just falls for the bait. Too funny. So tell me! Didya like it? Comment and tell me if there has ever been a guy or girl who kept ticking you off and suddenly you snapped and started arguing or tackling them or something! And let's make it 10 votes!
