Raziel's POV

My fingertips brush against my human's eyelids, tracing the features of his face. His barely audible snores cause my lips to quirk at the sides. My fingers dance down his body, stopping just above my seal which is permanently imprinted on his chest.

Mine. All mine. Kai is finally mine.

I gasp at the strange sense of possessiveness that washes over me. I would do anything for him, anything to protect him, anything to please him or to make him smile. These feelings were all there before but somehow they've gotten more intense, like just seeing him upset would physically hurt me and I wouldn't be content until he is happy.

Kai shifts closer to me in his sleep, releasing a happy sigh when I press him right up against me. I suppress a moan as our naked forms tangle together. In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have pulled him so close.

My teeth sink into my lip as I try to put some distance between us without waking my mate. My mate. My perfect mate. I can fully call him that now.

"Why are you trying to move away?" Kai rubs his eyes and yawns.

A smile spreads across my face and I stop moving as I watch my mate slowly become aware of his surroundings. While I'm a little sorry I woke him, maybe now we'll have time for some other things before school.

"Someone's excited," Kai says. All the sleep is gone from his eyes, replaced by a lustful gaze. His mouth parts and his tongue flicks over his lip as he runs his hand down my body. "I think we have some time before we have to get dressed for school."

My eyes flutter close and a throaty moan escapes me. I'm glad we're both on the same page.

"I love you." I nibble on Kai's bottom lip.

"Ummm, I love you too." The sound of the school bell makes us pull away, but not before we give each other a few more tender kisses.

"I'll see you later!" Kai blows me a kiss and saunters off with Milan.

As I make my way to the principal's office, I ignore the irritated looks I get from students for blatantly making out with Kai by his lockers. Luckily, I don't think Kai will notice the looks, and I saw Milan shooting a glare at a group of students who were eying Kai.

Making a mental note to dial back on the kisses at school, I burst into Zorander's office. "Did you miss me?"

A middle-aged bald man, sitting in what I considered to be my chair in Zorander's office, glares at me. "You put up with this type of disrespect from students?" He scoffs. "Why aren't you in class, Child?"

"This student is my nephew. He wasn't feeling well yesterday, and I asked him to come see me when he returned." Zorander's cold stare is enough to silence the man and have him trying to fold in on himself. "You were the one that dropped by without an appointment, and you have no right to speak to any of my students like that."

The man huffs and mumbles an apology.

"Raziel, could you wait outside? I need to finish my conversation with Mr. Baldwin."

I nod and sit outside of his office, ignoring the judging eyes of the receptionist. Every time I came to Zorander's office, she always tried to stop me from barging in. How was I supposed to know that I should have actually listened to her this time?

Raz? Can you hear me? Testing. testing!

A smile spreads across my face at Kai's voice in my head and I reply in my mind. Yes, my little light, I can hear you.

EEEEEE! I just wanted to see if it worked! This is so cool!

I can't help the soft laugh that escapes me at his cuteness. It does work, now pay attention in class.

Or what? Kai teases, and I can hear his cute, evil giggle in my mind.

Or I won't give you any kisses or cuddles for a week.

Kai gasps and I can almost see his pout. Okay fine, but I get extra kisses if I'm good and pay really close attention for the rest of the day.

Deal.

Kai giggles in response before his presence disappears from my mind.

"You can go in now," the receptionist says grudgingly.

I nod and once again enter Zorander's office. "Who was the dweeb?"

Zorander snickers before narrowing his eyes and smirking. "A permanent smile, a swagger in your step and little bruises on your neck. Did you complete the bond?"

"Yes! Kai is all mine!" I slide into my chair across from him.

"Congratulations, and you seem to have fully recovered." He raises an eyebrow.

"Awww, Zor, were you worried about me?"

He scoffs and rolls his eyes, diverting his attention to the stack of papers on his desk. Do they ever decrease?

"So the man?"

"Brandon's father. He's giving me push back for giving his son detention, but I handled it. The worst he can do is pull funding from the school, but I doubt he'd do it." He looks up to meet my gaze. "I figured out the reason why we ended up so far away from the gate when we went to Hell."

I raise an eyebrow and wait for him to continue. "I had to visit Hell a few more times to figure it out, but the fresher the human blood, the closer we'll get to our destination. That's why I ended up so far away because the blood from the blood bank had aged an extra day since I first got it."

"Would your friend be able to give you some on the day it's drawn?"

"They're sending me a list of donation days, so we'll go back on one of those days."

I nod. "And what about getting across the bridge?"

Zorander frowns and hesitates a moment before saying, "We could ask a higher demon to let us cross when they go to Heaven."

I release a long breath and sink into the chair. It's possible that would work, but a higher demon would definitely want something in return, and owing a favour to one demon is more than enough. The thought of asking Gabriel for help again pops into my mind, but I ignore it and refocus on the demon in front of me. "We'll keep that as a backup option."

"Okay, I'll keep searching for another way."

"And thank you for all your help."

Zorander snickers. "I'm not doing it for free. Remember you owe me a favour." I swallow the lump forming in my throat. It was too much to hope that he would have forgotten about that. Zorander rolls his eyes and drawls, "Why are you already thinking the worst of me?"

"I'm no-"

"Friends are supposed to give each other the benefit of the doubt." He flashes me an innocent smile.

"Stop smiling like that. It's weird! What do you want?"

His smile returns to his usual borderline sinister smirk. "I'm going on an overnight trip tonight, I'll be back in the morning. I need someone to stay with Melkopnius. They don't like staying alone overnight and I already left them alone over the weekend."

I narrow my eyes. "That's it?"

"That's it."

"Okay?"

"Great!" Zorander snickers before returning to his paperwork. "Oh and Melkopnius said that they have a way of destroying the book. They didn't give me any additional details but said you'd know what I mean."

My eyes widen. The book can't stay in Kai's father's safe forever and if Melkopnius really has a way of destroying it, I should find out what they know.

I refocus on Zorander when I hear him talking. "So you can stay with Melkopnius while Kai stays home and catches up on the school work he missed yesterday," he gives me a disapproving look, "and you shouldn't make Kai skip school just because you want to bone him." My eyebrows knit together in confusion, and he snickers. "I still have so many expressions to teach you. Have sex."

"Oh." I glance away, not being able to stop the images of Kai's naked body that flood my mind. I pull at the collar of my sweatshirt and clear my throat. "That's not why we stayed home. It wasn't planned, and I already spoke to Kai about not making a habit of missing school. It won't happen again." I frown. "For angels sake! Why am I explaining myself to you!"

Zorander's sharp bark of laughter booms through the air and I scowl.

"I've had enough of your presence for the day. I'd rather sit with Kai and his friends." Zorander snickers and waves as I get up from my chair and exit his office.
