Here is a snippet of what Raziel encounters this chapter ^^

Raziel's POV

"Maybe I should come with you," Zorander mutters.

"I think I can handle it," I retort, crossing my arms over my chest.

Zorander snickers and shrugs. "Alright, if you say so. Do you remember what I told you?"

"A cheeseburger with extra cheese and no pickles, large fries and a fruit punch," I reply, rolling my eyes.

Since Kai is still at the hospital visiting Marian with Declan and Lance, I decided to stay with Zorander until Kai returns home. The demon, however, has some work to finish and I'm getting hungry. So, after opening something grey on my phone with white lines and many upside-down raindrops of different colours, he told me to follow the blue path. He called it Google Maps and said that it would lead me to the restaurant where I can buy food.

"I'm leaving, demon," I announce, once again heading towards the door.

Zorander's voice stops me before I can fully exit. "My little angel is ready to go out into the world all by himself."

I spin around to glare at the demon. If I'm anyone's "little angel" it's Kai's, definitely not his. The demon snickers and wipes fake tears from his eyes, but he stops and raises his hands in surrender when he notices my annoyed expression.

Deciding not to reply to his irritating comment, I exit his office and the now deserted school, entering the streets filled with humans as they hurry home from work.

As I follow the blue path, I walk past buildings which shoot up into the air, lording over the tiny humans below them. A silver car waits behind a long line of cars, its driver frowning as they repeatedly tap their fingers against the steering wheel. The smell of fried food, sugary treats and barbecue sauce assaults my nose, the combination of smells sickeningly sweet.

Ahead of me is an extended slab of concrete covered by a paper-thin layer of snow, surrounded by large, colourful screens mounted onto the sides of the buildings. A group of people are huddled in the centre of the square, highly focused on something going on in front of them. Curious to discover what has the humans' attention, I approach the group, peering over the heads of the short humans.

A human with short, dark brown hair and equal dark brown eyes and facial hair is stacking open-ended cylinders, interchanging between placing them horizontally and vertically, until the makeshift cylinder structure is just over half his height. He places a plank of wood on top of them before hoisting himself up onto the stack of cylinders.

My eyes widen as I watch him wobble on the unstable structure before steadying himself. He pulls a stick from behind his back, which is about the length of his arm, and lights both ends on fire before grabbing two shorter sticks from behind his back and lighting one end of each of those sticks on fire.

A gasp escapes me as the human uses the smaller sticks to twirl and toss the bigger stick, all while balancing on the wobbly structure. The fire flickers into a flaming circle, entrancing me and all the other humans watching. We watch the fiery designs flying through the air as he continues to expertly twirl the sticks.

He finishes his act by putting the flames on the ends of the sticks into his mouth, seeming to consume the fire before back flipping off the structure and landing on his feet behind the cylinders which tumble to the ground.

The crowd erupts with applause, and even I am highly impressed by this human. My hands automatically clap along with everyone else's, my jaw still hanging open in awe of the performance.

Does Kai know of this show? I'll have to bring him here!

I make my way towards the wizard, as I have decided to call this human, curious to find out more of how he learnt this sorcery. When I get closer, he grins and yells, "Raziel! Hey man!"

How does this human know me? Is he really a wizard? I thought they were fictional! "It's Ayaan," the wizard pouts, when he notices my puzzled look, "come on, man. I'm friends with Kai. I know you don't really like Kai's friends, but we've eaten lunch together more than once." He continues to pout, when it still hasn't registered who he is. "Ayaan. I hang out with Hunter and Jax a lot."

"Ah, you look different," I reply, finally recognising the face of Kai's friend under the insane amount of eyeliner and spikey hair.

His smile widens, seemingly pleased that I remember him. "Yeah, my performance persona loves eyeliner. What are you doing here? Where's Kai?" His eyes drift behind me and a frown forms on his lips when he doesn't see Kai.

"Why are they putting money in the hat?" I question, noticing Ayaan smiling at the people as they briefly approach him to put money into his hat.

"If people liked the performance, they can choose to give me money," Ayaan answers before thanking a lady who compliments him on his performance.

It really was a fascinating performance, so I pull out the wallet that Kai gave me a while ago to also give him some money. "How much money do I give you?"

Ayaan turns his attention back to me, the crowd of people having finally subsided. "Whatever you'd like," he responds with a bright smile.

I shrug, pull out some cash and put it into his hat, and his eyes nearly jump out of his head. "Thank you, but this is a lot! Did you mean to give me so much money?"

I nod. I'm not entirely sure how much money I gave him, but I don't think Kai would have a problem with me spending the money, so I'll let the wizard keep it. "How did you do all of that?" As much as I hate to admit it, I now have a newfound admiration for Kai's friend.

He puts on a heavier coat and stoops to collect the fallen cylinders after pocketing the cash and thanking me again. "Practice and a little science." He winks before continuing to pick up the cylinders and pack away his stuff. "My parents were in the circus, and they taught me everything I know. They retired a few years back."

"This was a circus?" This hasn't come up in any of the movies or television shows I have seen, so I'm not sure I fully understand.

"No. This was just a performance so that I can make some extra money. I do this performance once every few weeks. A circus has a lot of different performers and they put on an entire show, from acrobatics to clowns, you name it. It's usually on a much bigger scale."

I nod, taking in this new information. "When is your next performance? I want to bring Kai."

"That's great! I'll let you know, man." He heaves his backpack, with sticks peeking out of it, over his shoulder. "Let me buy you dinner. It's the least I can do for your generous donation. I'll tell you more about the circus and my performance!"

I agree and show him the blue path I was supposed to follow, and Ayaan leads us the rest of the way to the restaurant. I decide to get Zorander's food when I'm leaving so that it's still warm, and once Ayaan and I get our food, I sit in a booth opposite him while he tells me about the circus.

It's actually captivating and I enjoy his stories very much. The only downside is that Kai isn't here to share in this experience, but I'll fill him in on the details once I return to him.

"Raziel," the familiar voice of the demon snarls not long after we finish eating our food.

"Zorander," I reply, turning towards him.

The wizard looks back and forth between Zorander and me. "Principal Ryu?" Ayaan is starting to look more and more uncomfortable by the second. "You're on a first name basis with the principal?"

Before I can respond, Zorander chimes in. "Raziel is my... nephew. I sent him to buy food, but after he took so long that I came to find him." He turns to me and smirks, and I roll my eyes but don't protest his lie.

"Sorry for keeping you out so long, Raziel. I don't think we have classes together tomorrow, but you and Kai are coming to the party, so I'll see you there," Ayaan says, scampering up from the booth. He says goodbye to Zorander and hurries out the door.

"I thought you didn't like humans," Zorander grunts plopping down in the booth opposite me.

I shrug, not fully knowing how to respond. Before, Kai was the only human I liked, now I don't hate Declan or Ayaan, not that I like them, but I'm starting to see that maybe humans aren't so bad. They're complex and interesting creatures if you get to know them.

After checking on Kai and finding out that he and Declan are at his house playing video games, I spend the next few minutes telling the demon about the circus while he eats his dinner before heading back to Kai.

"Kai?" I say, upon entering the house.

"Raz!" Kai exclaims, the excitement evident in his voice. I take off my coat and hold my arms out, waiting for my human who I can hear rushing through the house towards me.

When he spots me, he giggles before jumping right into my arms. His legs wrap around my waist and his arms snake around my neck, as he buries his head in the side of my neck. I feel him run his tongue over my collarbone before biting into the soft flesh. A husky moan escapes me and Kai giggles and continues to bite and suck on my tender flesh.

Desperate to taste his lips, my hand drifts up to his hair, clutching a fistful of hair and gently tugging his head backwards. He moans softly before pouting, as his mouth is dragged away from my neck. I chuckle before connecting our lips, running my tongue over his bottom lip. Kai melts against me in response, opening his mouth and letting me explore his cavern.

When he finally pulls away, we're both breathless and grinning from ear to ear. He strokes my cheek and pecks my lips. "How was your evening?"

"Ayaan is a wizard!" I blurt out, causing Kai to burst into a fit of giggles.

We swap stories about our days and Kai tells me how much fun he had hanging out with his brother. Kai seems really happy, and from what Kai tells me, so is Declan.

However, my guardian angel bond with Declan didn't disappear, which means that helping Declan connect with Kai and save his mother wasn't the primary reason I was assigned as Declan's guardian angel. I'll have to try figuring out the reason later, but for right now, I'll just enjoy the pure joy on my human's face as he tells me about his day.
