So without further ado, the chapter-

That makes sense." She spoke so softly and it was only then when she smiled that Justin felt himself unravel. The control he had tried to keep disappeared within a fraction of a second as he leaned forward swiftly, grabbing the back of her head gently and pressing his lips softly against her own.

If she opposed him, she didn't show it. Rather, it was the opposite. She tensed for a split second before her shoulders relaxed and she moved her lips against his own. If there even a slight nanometer of control left in Justin, it was destroyed immediately at her response and he buried his hand deep into her soft hair. His other hand rested against her cheek, tilting her face so he could have more of her- her heat and the sound of her breathing. He kissed her until all thought was forgotten, until her eyes had dried up and all she could smell was his icy scent.

Then suddenly, as though hit by a hot poker, she pushed at his chest, moving him away with wide eyes.

"Oh my g- we shouldn't have- I shouldn't have done that." She stuttered out through heavy breaths, and- just as he opened his mouth to speak- she quickly stood up and ran to the door.

Justin's POV from when he meets Raven first time after the kiss- Part 2

Yes, right now. Your conversation can wait, the birthday boy's in this game." She spoke with a giggle, dragging both him and Raven. This time, he conceded, allowing her to as he turned his cold eyes to look to Raven who was merely smiling as she was pulled. He decided, after this game, he would confront her.

He just hoped those green eyes wouldn't make him falter.

They made their way through the large corridor as Justin kept himself composed. For the most part, it was his anger that he was controlling. It was the anger at the fact that the girl, in front of him, had kissed him at the same time as being in a committed relationship with one of his best friends. He despised many things, but dishonesty was definitely on the top of that list. He didn't see a need nor care for it; it only complicated matters; broke trust and caused drifts. Honesty had always been his best policy and he felt anger that she was smiling so casually right now, no sense of remorse showing from her.

The other thing he had to compose was not anger, but a feeling he couldn't describe. She was so close right now, so much so that he could smell he yet again: the apple-scent to her hair and the sweet perfume that had haunted his senses for many of the following nights after they had met.

She was a nuisance.

"Found some stragglers who can help join the game!" Avalon spoke cheerily, her words being met by cheers as a group of 6, including Drake ushered them over.

"I knew Justin wouldn't disappoint me on my birthday!" Drake joked, the triangle birthday hat that he was childishly wearing sloping down into his left eye.

"Now, sit down!" Avalon chirped, pushing them down by their shoulders as she squeezed in between them. Even from this distance, Justin could smell her scent and it frustrated him. So, he placed focus as the group played Truth and Dare. It was a common game that occurred during the parties. Justin had taken part very rarely due to how raucous it could get, but how could he say no to Avalon? She was, in all essences, the person he cared for most. He would always prioritise her, there was no doubt about it.

However, a small part of his mind argued against this. It reminded him of glittering green and it prodded him. It argued that perhaps, if he had a beauty like her in his life, who he cared for most would change. How could he be so certain in his priorities when, with one single look in her eyes, he felt all rational thoughts leave his head. Anyone who could dissuade him from certainty was certainly someone who could change his priorities and he shook his head, wondering when his thoughts had turned to her yet again.

"Ooh Raven, pick Truth or Dare?!"

Justin focused back in on as he heard her name, looking to where the top of the bottle was facing towards Raven.

"Oh, what the hell, Dare." Raven answered, waving her hand in casual reluctance and the group cheered yet again, enjoying the idea of the risky option.

"Let me ask! It's my birthday!" Drake called out and it went quiet as he thought, scratching a hand against his chin for a moment. It was only for a short while before his eyes widened and he smiled, clicking his finger to show that he got one.

"Raven, I know you're going out with my main man Mason, so I'll go a bit easier with it." He began, a teasing aspect to his voice and Justin tensed as the memories of Drake's previous intimate dares came to mind. From body shots to 7 minutes in heaven, Drake knew no limits and Justin felt the notion tug at something in his chest.

Just the mere thought of Raven having to incited a sense of displeasure that he couldn't explain, so he let it be, watching as Raven nodded, lips quirking into a small smirk.

"You don't need to play nice, Drake, I can handle it." She retorted just as quickly, no ounce of trepidation in her and Drake's smile widened at this as he leaned forward, the triangular hat moving along with him.

"Kiss the best looking person in the circle." He drawled and, as soon as the words left his mouth, Raven's gaze snapped to his, fixing onto him like a snake around its prey. It felt equally as lethal and he didn't look away, staring back at her with icy tensity. He noticed how, unlike others, she didn't relent, keeping her gaze on him; no one else had ever done that.

Then, as though she was burned with a hot poker, she hurriedly turned away, clearing her throat awkwardly.

"Best looking, hmm? Let me think..." She spoke in thought and Avalon giggled, sitting back on her palms.

"If Aaron was in the circle, it would be him. When he's not here, my bestie Justin is obviously the only answer!" She announced, nudging Justin with her arm and it made him tense up all over again. Even more so, when she looked back up at him, gaze indistinguishable. It was silent for a moment before she nodded.

"I guess it'll have to be J-"

"What's going on over here?" Mason interrupted Raven before she could finish and they all turned as he settled himself down to Drake.

"Whose turn is i-" His words were muffled then as Raven leaned forward, grabbing his face as she kissed him feverishly. Justin only looked ahead, grey eyes dull and blank of emotion. He didn't see the need to feel displeasure towards it. He obviously knew they had been dating for quite a while now. If that was the case then why were his fists clenched as the others around him cheered.

How annoying.

When it ended, Mason moved back with a look of confusion on his face yet his lips were slightly quirked up.

"Not that I'm complaining but am I missing something?" He asked to which everyone laughed.

"Cake time guys!" Danny's voice boomed as the music was lowered and Justin looked over to the other room where Danny was waving over to everyone.

"Drake, get your ass over here!" Aaron called as he placed the large cake down onto the table

"Justin, come, show me where you put the knives!" Danny called out, jumping on the spot before be turned to the drawers and Justin rolled his eyes. Hell would freeze over before he would let Danny carry a knife. So, without another word, he stood up, making his way over to where they were.

"Justin."

The single call of his name made him stop dead to a halt and he didn't even need to look back to know who it was. He did turn though, looking to her from his peripheral with a glare. After her words at their introduction, he didn't feel the need to keep a friendly facade.

"What do you want?" He spoke tiredly, face blank and Raven only smiled at his words, moving closer. Again, he found his glare did not deter her in the slightest. It was strange.

"I wanted to thank you for your advice that day. I was a complete drunken mess, so sorry about the first impression." She spoke and he stilled as he processed her words.

She had been drunk.

It let a small amount of relief fill him at the fact that it was all an accidental mistake and, despite the dampening feeling in him, he just nodded.

"Don't thank me for it. I wasn't trying to make you feel better. If I did, I'm glad that it helped you." He spoke bluntly and Raven laughed at this, brushing her hair back with a hand.

"And, about that, I'm sorry too. I'm a bit of a nuisance when I'm drunk." She spoke and he was glad that she had brought it up as he was going to. He wasn't one to tiptoe around topics that needed confronting and clearly neither was she.

"Don't be sorry, I started it, so I'll apologise for being a nuisance when I'm drunk." He replied just as quickly and her smile widened at this. She reached out a hand then towards him.

"Friends?" She offered and he didn't even hesitate as he nodded, hesitantly placing his hand in hers. He was still averse to touching people.

"Okay." Was all he said and, with that, they became friends.

And, in all those years, they remained unaware of the effect they had on the other's heartbeat.

Coming up for next week's chapter-

Raven came closer, and pulled me down harshly.

"I don't know if he's ever mentioned the name, but Aaron used to have a girlfriend called Avalon." She began and I listened in at the odd prospect of Aaron being in a committed relationship.

"He was so different before when he was with her. He loved her so much and I think she brought out the best in him. One day, there was this party at Danny's house. Aaron was with his us all and Avalon was with some other friends. Maybe if she was with him, she wouldn't have done what she did." She said

"What did she do?" I questioned, wanting to hear the answer.

Raven sighed and moved closer.
"Aaron caught her sleeping with a guy. She blamed it on being drunk, but it broke him. He loved her so much and when he saw them together, you should've seen him Alexis. It was horrible."

"What did he do?"

She stared out the window a little while longer before turning back to me.
"He broke up with her and beat the guy up. Turns out, the guy wasn't drunk, so he knew he was sleeping with Aaron's girlfriend"

"Then?" I asked, shocked. Raven sat back a little, more relaxed with me.

"The girl transferred schools out of sadness and the boy left the school, afraid he'd get beaten up by Aaron again. After that, Aaron stopped believing in love. He just had a relationship for sex and didn't try to form a bond with the girls."

Aaron's POV when he catches Avalon cheating on him.
