I was supposed to write why Justin and Savannah broke up, but I was unable to but have written this one instead.

So without further ado, the chapter-

The door opened with a loud thud and everyone's eyes were on the door. Obviously, that's what always happens when Aaron was at the door. The attention always seemed to be on him. He walked in slowly, his eyes on me.

I smiled, putting the 'fake girlfriend' facade up.

"Hey, where were-"

I was cut off by Aaron dropping to his knees. Well, one knee to be exact.

He was kneeling, his beautiful eyes staring up at me as he bit his lip. A small case was in his hand.

I would have found that to be a jaw-dropping sight if I wasn't wholly concentrated on my anxiety.

What was going on?

Aaron's POV when he gave Lexi a promise ring.

Thud.

Thud.

Thud.

He could hear the beatings of his own heart as he waded down the corridor. In any other circumstances, he'd have greeted his friends by the lockers but, right now, his mind was elsewhere.

Only thoughts of Lexi came to mind.

Yet, he didn't know why his body was reacting like this. It was only last night when he and Lexi had discussed his reputation; how he was known as a ladies man. She had said it jokingly, yes, but he felt a bitter feeling fill him at her words. The last person he had wanted to see his ugly side was her, but she had.

In response, he had said he had wanted to change it and he had meant it with every fibre of his being. It was though, all of a sudden, he felt ashamed for his actions; he felt disgust. How did Lexi view him? Would she too find him disgusting for all that he had done? He couldn't stand to think of it.

And it was with that though that the idea had come to him last night- the promise ring. If he could show Lexi; show everyone that he could change then- perhaps- he could believe it too. That he was capable of change.

The door to Lexi's class opened with a loud thud and everyone's eyes then fell on him. It didn't deter him no; he was used to their intrusive gazes and, all the more, he was much too focused on a certain doe-eyed girl. He walked slowly towards her, taking in the way she smiled. Of course, she was only doing it as a pretense, but he still sought to savour it.

"Hey, where were-" She began, but he cut her off by dropping to a knee. He had to do it quickly before he changed his mind, looking up to her with steady eyes. It was only the way that he bit his lip that would give away his nerves as he talk out the small case from his pocket and extended it toward her.

The gasps and whispers in the room were loud enough to break and shatter the sound barrier, but he ignored it. He couldn't think of anything; couldn't focus on anything but Lexi's stunned face.

"Lexi? Are you okay?" He called but he was met with silence, increasing his nerves. He stood up at this, snapping a finger in her face, making her blink rapidly.

"Huh?" She suddenly said, finally looking at him and he felt the fear fill him. Had he crossed a line? Perhaps, he should have asked her first before going through with his own desires.

Aaron's eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"I said 'are you okay?'" Aaron said, repeating his words and putting the back of his hand to her forehead.

"Are you unwell? You seemed okay last night?" He questioned, peering into my eyes with worry. They had gone swimming last night and she did look to have a very weak health. Just the thought of the lake made his mind turn to the moment when they had kissed and he quickly dismissed it, just as the class erupted into discussion af the use of his words 'last night'.

Thankfully, Lexi nodded to show she was okay and he smiled in response, taking hold of her hand.

"I have something to ask you." He suddenly said, her gaze making him want to spill everything he knew and he watched how Lexi's eyes flitted across the room anxiously. He noticed she could get quite nervous when the centre of attention and he tightened his hold on her hand, hoping to help her find some solace in the midst of all the attention. She looked to him at this, biting her lip in thought.

"Aaron, I-" She began with a small stutter and he shushed her, not wanting the nerves to overtake her. He moved closer, so she was more hidden from view, leaning his forehead against hers. He savoured her scent for a moment before continuing.

"It's a promise ring, gorgeous." He muttered, stroking her cheek with his knuckles, wanting to let her know; to reassure her, but to also reasude himself. This was the first time he had ever done something along these lines; usually he would have deemed it as too serious a step. But, with Lexi, it seemed to be the appropriate action to take next. It consoled him to think that, even after his stupid actions from yesterday, there would be something that still linked them.

Still, just because he wished to link them, didn't mean that Lexi would also. What if he was pressuring her? He spared a cautious glance around before leaning closer to her.

"Are you mad?" He whispered, so that only she could hear, feeling the uncertainty fill him. He only felt relief when Lexi rolled her eyes in the typical way she did.

"No, but someone else is," She said pointedly, pointing over to a blonde girl subtley. She looked to be vaguely familiar and he zoned in onto her necklace.

Britney.

He didn't even know the girl and she was glaring at Lexi. He turned back to look away from her.

"Are you familiar with the way an eagle looks at a mouse?" He questioned absent-mindedly and Lexi made a noise in confusion, shakinf her head.

"No?" She said, giving him a strange look and he turned back to look at the blonde girl.

"Me neither, but I'm sure the look that Britney is giving you is pretty much it." Was all he answered, confused at why and he smiled as Lexi laughed softly, turning back to her. She was looking at her hand now before glancing back up at him softly.

"A promise ring?" She questioned unsurely, the hinting of hesitance evident in her voice and he nodded, feeling a sting at her uncertainty. He would have said yes in an instance if she had asked.

"I mean, I don't want to pressure you. It's okay if you don't accept it." He quickly let her know, but his nerves were yet again extinguished as Lexi smiled.

"I don't mind doing it, Aaron. I told you I'd help you last night." She said softly and he felt affection fill him, nodding his head in gratitude.

"Thanks." Was all he said because it was all he could muster in the midst of how much affection he felt. No words could quite equate to properly thank her.

"Well, are you gonna put it on or what?" Lexi drawled, eying him playfully and he smiled opening the case. He felt relief when she gasped, looking at the ring with a smile before stepping back, eyeing him with adoration. He could tell the latter part was more acting for the audience.

"Aaron, this is.... It's amazing." She said, affection clear in my voice and he felt a slight jealousy at the way she eyed the ring warmly, raising an eyebrow..

"You gave the ring a more loving look than you do me." He pointed out and she smirked, shrugging softly. He found he was quite fond of her smirk.

"Well, actions do speak louder than words." She merely said to which Aaron nodded, his eyes playful.

"Oh? In that case..." He drifted off before lifting her hand and placing the ring on, his heart constricting as he did. It fit perfectly and that tugged on something inside him.

Aaron leaned his forehead against hers again and she sighed warmly, her acting skills stunning even him.

"Good acting, Lexi. I'm thoroughly impressed." He said honestly and Lexi smiled smugly in response, her cheeks slightly tinting with red. He vowed then to compliment her more just so he could see her face yet again.

"Well, what can I say? I always know how to put on a show. I can't say the same for you" She mocked, and he raised an eyebrow, finding her competitiveness very alluring.

"I'm going to get you back for that." He stated, eyeing her slightly and she scoffed at his words, making her allure only increase. He had to control himself at this point.

"And how are you planning on doing that?" She questioned curiously, making him smirk and he leaned back so he could take in her full form.

He knew he was going to get flack for this afterwards, but right now his temptations were controlling him. All he could think of right now was bringing her into his embrace and wiping that smug smile off her face in the only way he knew how.

"Kiss me." He ordered.
