After placing his belongings in his chamber, Remus took a deep relieved breath as the thought of not being alone washed over him. He had been dreading going back to Hogwarts as he didn't exactly have any company back home.

As he picked up his coat on his way out, Remus caught sight of two framed photos on a coffee table in his room. A small smile crept up its way onto his lips before his legs led him to the table. Remus picked up one photo and stared at it. The four teen boys in the picture brought back some memories and Remus wouldn't admit it if someone said he almost shed a tear at the sight.

He sighed and put the photo down before picking up the other one. He stared at it with some kind of sad yet happy expression. It was the picture of his little family. He, his wife, and his little girl. Remus gently ran his finger over the faces of his loved ones. If he counts it correctly, his daughter would be in the Great Hall tonight. However, he wasn't sure. He'd been trying to spot his girl on the train but, sadly, he didn't see her.

Remus gathered up what was left of his strength and took a deep breath to calm himself down. He reluctantly put down the photo, but his eyes never left it. After another second,  Remus moved his gaze from the picture and made his way to the door; walking out.

As he peacefully walked through the corridor of the school, a familiar voice rang from behind him.

"Did you take the train, Remus?" Remus stopped his strides and turned around with a small smile. "You're  late." Snape continued while smirking.

"Well, Severus, I think you've forgotten what night was last night." He replied with a raised eyebrow.

"I'm aware, Remus."

Ever since Remus started being a teacher at Hogwarts a year ago, he had always spent his time with Snape as he was the closest to his age. At first, Snape wasn't thrilled. He would always recall the little misunderstanding between them back in their time. But, after Remus' apology and some explanations, Snape slowly warmed up to him; but that doesn't mean he would forget about what happened.

It was easy for Snape to forgive Remus. But, not for James and Sirius since Remus didn't bully him like how James and Sirius did.

"So, you already met the new dunderheads for this year, yeah?" Snape asked as they fell into a walk. Remus laughed a bit at his statement.

"Just one," he replied. "But, I don't think she'll be a trouble to you." He said, thinking about Jaiden.

"We'll see." And, they entered the Great Hall, walked up to the professor's table and waited for the sorting ceremony to begin.

When Jaiden and the other first-years entered the Great Hall, they stared in awe at the ceiling and the floating candles.

"The ceiling is not real. It's just bewitched. I read about those in Hogwarts a History." Said a girl with a bossy monotone in front of her. It made her annoyed, to be honest.

When they reached the front of the hall, there was a stool and an old hat. Then, the hat started to sing. After a few minutes of singing it came to an end.

"When I call your name, step to the front and I shall place the hat on your head," said the Professor whom Jaiden had come to learn named McGonagall.

"Bones, Susan," called Professor McGonagall.

"Hufflepuff!" Yelled the hat. Hufflepuff table cheered for her.

"Granger, Hermione"

"Gryffindor!"

"Malfoy, Draco"
"Slytherin!" The hat barely touched his head when it yelled.

Jaiden zoned out after a few students were called. In Jaiden's mind that time was how she could transform. Dumbledore had said that he'd handle it. She just worried about other students' safety. She sighed as she concluded there was no point in worrying about it, so she started to focus back on the sorting ceremony.

When she was pulled out of her deep thoughts, she was met by a very loud cheer from Gryffindor's table.

"We've got Potter! We've got Potter!" Bellowed two identical twins. When she heard Potter, she knew who he was but she didn't pay attention to him.

"Zabini, Blaise."
"Slytherin!"

"Rookwood, Jaiden." Jaiden nervously walked to the front. She sat on the stool and Professor McGonagall placed the hat on her head. The hat started to whisper,

"Hmm..very powerful. The thirst to prove yourself. Loyal and smart. You're very good matching for Ravenclaw but there's cunning as well. Hmm..interesting. You'll do great at all houses," Jaiden started to calm down and just waited for the hat to decide. "Hmm.. Sly- oh wait, wait, there's a connection. I see, Gryffindor!"

Jaiden smiled and walked to the Gryffindor table. After Dumbledore's welcoming speech ended, the feast began. Jaiden was half finished with her food when someone tapped her shoulder.

She turned around and saw a red-haired boy. Probably a 4th or 5th year student. "Jaiden Rookwood, right?" She nodded. "Professor Dumbledore requires you at his office after dinner. He also said he likes chocolate frogs." And with that, he walked away.
