Annabelle's POV:

We were waiting outside at the burning building in front of us. I was wrapped in Carter's blanket now with him standing next to me. Standing there it dawned upon me that Matt and Elizabeth were missing. I looked to Tara, Elijah, Danny and Gwen for some kind of answer but they looked as shocked as I. The firemen were holding us back against the line as I watched Elijah explode forward, "That's my sister in there!" he screamed trying to lunge through them but was held back forcefully. Then I felt a push against me as Carter ran towards the building between the gap they had just created. "Carter!" I screamed as I saw his body run into the building.

The men turned quickly at the speed he had gone, I wasn't going to leave him, so using their moment of weakness I also ran to the building. I felt one of them grab my arm but I was running too hard and too fast for them to stop me as the smoke slapped my face and clouded my lungs. I pulled my top up past my nose and mouth trying to take in any oxygen that I could. "Carter!" I called out but was only responded to with the crackling around me. I headed towards the stairs and avoided the ones that were broken, enflamed or both. I got to the floor where we had all been staying and ran to their room, their door was open, Carter had already been there. I felt tears flood my face as I felt like I had lost him, "Carter!" I called out spluttering against the smoke.

I was walking with my back against the wall trying to not get lost in the smoke fog before me, "Carter!" I still shouted with no response, I was sure I was crying but I didn't care. I wanted to find Carter and I wanted to find him now. I coughed a little harder as the smoke was beginning to fill my lungs and called out again, "Carter!". Then it was like an explosion. The room next to me collapsed and I felt the floor almost go with it, I sprinted forward trying not to get caught up and landed on the floor. "Carter!" I cried out full of fear, then I heard it, it was faint but it was definitely him and it was definitely my name, "Annabelle?!". I looked up hoping I would see him but I didn't, I stood up now cupping the top and my nose and mouth in my hands and as I took them away I shouted, "Carter!".

"Annabelle" his voice called out and I began to run to it, I could feel the heat surrounding my entire body and my lung's were far from dead. "Carter!" I shouted as I bound round the corner, I saw him. He was at the other end of the corridor with his shirt also covering his mouth. I began to run to him and then everything went hot...

Everything went black...

Carter's POV:

Annabelle and I were standing outside, Elijah could not find his sister or Matt and I had tried to calm him by telling that we would find them both. Soon it was only us and Tara, Elijah, Danny and Gwen with Matt and Elizabeth missing. I was worried I had heard them in the room before the alarms had gone off and was sure they had to be inside. I watched as Elijah lunged to try and get between the fire men that were creating a barrier but failed miserably - he had the right idea. I saw them make a space and bound into it and sprinted as fast as I could into the building. I had to save them as the men were doing nothing. "Carter!" I heard Annabelle shout as I entered the flame filled building. I looked around coughing and chocking under the amount of smoke. I lifted my shirt around my mouth and leapt up the stairs to my side.

I came to our floor soon enough and sprinted straight to their room, the door was locked and closed. I threw my leg at the door twice and soon it opened. I called out, "Matt!", "Elizabeth!" but I got no response and after searching the room I gave up and continued down the hallway trying to find them and a way out. I was stumbling amongst the debris and was trying my hardest to fight against the fire. My lung capacity was full of smoke and I could feel myself slowly choking, I thought that I would soon be out though, soon out with Annabelle.

I had gone round the corner and I was at the end of the other hallway when I thought I had heard my name come from Annabelle, I didn't see her so I called out, "Annabelle!" then I was sure when I heard my name shouted back. I coughed and spluttered minding all the parts of building on the floor as I saw her come around the corner. Her face lit up against the flames as she smiled, she began running to me and I took a step towards her as I felt a hot pain...

Then I saw darkness...
