"Come dance with us Kennedy! It'll be fun!" Arden begged as she tugged on my arm.

"Fine! But only this one song," I sighed, finally giving into my friends pleading. They all cheered before dragging me onto the dance floor. Parties were not exactly my thing, but when they were at my house, I had no choice in whether I attended or not. My brother, Grayson, loved to host parties because it meant he got to hook up with girls. Myself, on the other hand, wasn't allowed to even look at a boy without my brother kicking their ass, totally fair right?

As usual, as soon as we got to the dance floor, my friends ignored me to start grinding on the boys around them. I stood awkwardly in the middle, swaying my hips slightly to the music.

After a minute, I felt an arm snake around my waist. I looked up to find my brother's best friend, Wyatt Chandler, staring down at me. I giggled and turned to wrap my arms around his neck.

"Wanna go upstairs?" Wyatt asked me. I nodded my head before grabbing his wrist and leading him out of the crowd. I spotted my brother making out with his latest girl, Lindsay. Luckily, we were able to sneak upstairs without any issues because his back was facing towards us. Wyatt and I had been seeing each other in secret for over two months. We didn't go on dates or anything, just had fun. We made it my room and I locked the door behind us.

"God, you're so sexy," Wyatt smiled before kissing me.

"I can say the same and more about you," I mumbled against his lips.

"We've gotta be quick, Grayson has been checking on me every fifteen-ish minutes," I informed him. Wyatt nodded and started to tug and my shirt before pulling off his own. I giggled and unbuttoned mine slowly.

"We don't have time for that," Wyatt mocked me.

"Oh shut up!" We were about to go back to kissing when somebody started banging on my door.

"Ken, who's with you?" It was Grayson. My eyes went wide before I picked up Wyatt's shirt from the ground and shoved him into my closet.

"Stay there," I ordered him, before shutting the door. I re-buttoned my shirt and pulled out my phone. I pulled up the screensaver that looked like I was on the phone with someone. I unlocked the door to reveal an angry looking Grayson.

"Gray, I'm just on the phone," I told him. He snatched the phone out of my hand.

"Who are you and why are you calling my little sister?" He asked. I grabbed the phone right back from him.

"They hung up on me! And I am not your little sister, I'm only three minutes younger!" I retorted. Grayson just rolled his eyes at me in response.

"Just come back downstairs soon so Wyatt and I can keep an eye on you," He sighed.

"Fine," I grumbled before shutting the door again. I heard Grayson's footsteps fade as I walked back over to my closet. I pulled open the doors to see a relieved Wyatt sitting on the ground.

"That was close," He muttered. I nodded in agreement.

"Too close," I started. I paused to take in a deep breath. "Wyatt, I think we need to end this," I told him. His face dropped instantly.

"Why?" He asked.

"You're my brother's best friend, and he is going to start getting suspicious soon," I explained. Wyatt sighed before taking my hands in his.

"We'll end this if you want to, but know I will always be here for you if you need me," He sighed. I pulled him into a hug and he kissed my forehead.

"I'll go first and distract my brother," I told him before escaping back into the dark hallway. I sighed as I realized the closest thing I had to a real relationship was gone again, thanks to my brother. When I got to the bottom of the stairs I saw that most people were starting to head out, since it was close to three in the morning. I said goodbye to my friends and headed to find my brother.

"You know, even if there was a boy in there, you are going to have to let me date a some point Gray. We're almost halfway through our junior year of high school!" I groaned as I found my brother starting to clean up the trash that was littered around our house.

He glanced in my direction before focusing on the floor again, "Kennedy, I'm doing this for your own sake."

"My own sake? You have got to be kidding me!" I shrieked while throwing my hand in the air.

"Seriously Gray, your sister can take care of herself," Wyatt joined in as he walked into the room to help my brother clean up.

"You're in her side?" He exclaimed.

"You are being just a tad ridiculous dude," Wyatt mumbled.

"If it was your sister, you'd understand," my brother spit.

Wyatt rolled his eyes, "You realize I have three sisters right?"

"All of them are older than you, it's not the same!" Grayson shot back.

"I'm hardly younger than you, Grayson," I reminded him.

"It's just different!" Grayson said in a finalizing tone. Wyatt gave me a sad glance before helping my brother clean.

I frowned, no longer in the mood to deal with my brother's shit, "I'm going to bed," I mumbled before heading up to my bedroom and basically going straight to bed.

When I woke up, I was relieved to find nobody in the house except for me, however upset because my stomach was in knots yet again. I always found myself feeling sick after partying and staying up late and really wished it would just go away. I made my way downstairs and took some medicine for my upset stomach before grabbing a box of Lucky charms out of the cabinet and pouring myself a bowl to enjoy. I pulled myself up onto the kitchen counter and started to eat my cereal in silence.

I heard the door open and silently prayed it wasn't Grayson. Sure, I loved him and all, but I was trying to be mad at him right now. To my luck, I heard the squeak of hospital shoes coming down the hallway, which meant it was my mom, not Grayson.

"Hi sweetheart," Mom smiled before kissing my head.

"Hi Mom, how was your shift?" I asked. My mom set down her work bag before answering my question.

"Just the same old thing, but we did have two sets of twins born yesterday," She informed me. My mom worked as a nurse in the maternity ward of our local hospital. This meant she worked a lot of nights and many weekends.

"That's exciting," I responded. My mother smiled before grabbing my hand.

"Oh honey, you don't have to act excited about my job, I know it is boring sometimes." She joked.

"Your job is never boring, Mom," I chuckled in response.

"I'm going to go take a nap, let me know if you need anything," She smiled before heading into her bedroom. I sighed as I jumped down from the counter to put my bowl in the sink. My mother was one of the hardest working people I knew, after my dad left, she was determined to take care of Gray and I the best she possibly could. Our father being gone was also part of the reasons why Grayson wanted all boys to stay away from me. Grayson never wanted me to end up in the same position as our mom. As I walked back up to my room, my phone buzzed because of a notification.

It was a text from Arden:

Could you host next Fridays girls night? My parents won't let me host it since they found out I was seeing somebody behind their backs. Thanks xx - Arden

Every month, my friend group had a sleepover at someone's house. There were about fifteen of us girls, so usually you never had to host more than once a year.

Of course! You can just take my month for next time xx - Kens

I slipped my phone back into my pocket and walked into my bathroom. It was already one pm and I wasn't going anywhere, so why bother to get ready? Instead, I just brushed my teeth and put some moisturizer on my face to keep it from drying out. Then, I walked back into my bedroom and flopped on my bed. I groaned at the fact my stomach was still upset, but passed it off as nothing more than my messed up schedule, due to the party.

Trying to forget about my stomach, I turned on the TV and started watching, The Kissing Booth, on Netflix. The story was kind of similar to my situation, well except for the fact that Grayson was my brother, not my best friend, and Wyatt was not Grayson's brother—maybe, the situations weren't as similar as I imagined them in my head. I was watching for about an hour before I started to dozen again. I was about to fall completely asleep again until somebody knocked on my bedroom door.

"Come in," I called, too lazy to get off of my bed. Wyatt came through the door and I gave him a small smile.

"Are you doing alright?" Wyatt asked me.

"Yeah, it's just my stomach has been bothering me since I woke up," I informed him. A concerned expression washed over his face.

"Do you need anything for it?" He asked me as he sat down on the edge of my bed.

"No, I think it's just from the party last night," I told him.

"Are you sure? Because you didn't even drink anything," Wyatt asked.

"The loud music usually messes me up, but I guess I might have a bug or something," I shrugged, not really concerned about it. Wyatt stared at me, like he was searching for something wrong in my eyes, but after a few seconds he got up from my bed and started making his way to my door to leave.

"Give me a call if you need anything, promise?" He asked.

"Promise," I confirmed.
