I knock on the door of Leah's parents house and then walk inside.

"Leah?" I yell. "It's Jennifer!"

I hear her upstairs so I slowly make my way there. I go into her room and she's folding some clothes. She doesn't even look up at me when I enter the room.

"Can we talk?" I ask quietly.

She stops folding and sighs before running her hand through her hair. "Sit." She says.

I do what she tells me and she looks at me and walks closer.

"First of all, I wasn't in prison. I spent a few months in jail and that's it." She informs me. "Second of all, it was a long time ago. Jennifer I used to be very different. I ran with a different crowd and I've done things that I am not proud of, by any means." She pauses and takes another breath, "I think it was extremely wrong for Danny to tell you what he did, he crossed a line he shouldn't have even gone close to. But now, since you think you know something... I'll tell you my version." She says, taking a breath before finishing her story.

I cut her off, "do I want to know?" I ask her and she looks at me and bites her lip.

"I don't know, but maybe you should know." Leah says and sits on the edge of the bed.

I stand up and walk to her, putting my hands on her face, "Leah, if I don't need to know then don't tell me. I don't want things to change or things to end. I want you, and I can't take any more disappointment right now." I say and my voice cracks.

She looks up at me and nods her head and then hugs me tightly. "Jennifer, I'm sorry." She says. "I should have been honest with you from the start."

"Shh. Just hold me and don't hurt me." I whisper to her and she kisses my neck a few times.

"If it makes you feel any better, all that's on my record is a speeding ticket or two... I was never formally charged with anything." Leah tells me and I force myself to grin a little and she puts her hand on my chin, "I don't want you seeing him again." I nod my head, totally willing to never see Danny again for as long as I live.

"He asked me if we were sleeping together." I say to her.

She lets out a loud, dramatic laugh and shakes her head, "I'm not surprised. He knows we're sleeping together." She says confidently.

"How do you know that?" I ask her.

"For starters, he knows me. And secondly, your eyes tell a lot more than you think they do." She winks at me.

Leah walks out of the room and I sigh and go over and flop down on her bed. "What do you do for work?" I yell out.

She comes back into the room and walks to the end of the bed and looks at me, "why are you just now asking me this?" She laughs.

She slowly climbs onto the bed and straddles me, putting her hands on my waist. "I just thought about it." I say and lay both my hands on her thighs.

"Photo journalism is my main focus right now. That's why I travel so much." She explains to me, allowing her thumb to brush my bare skin.

"So you take pictures of the places you visit?" I ask her.

She nods her head and licks her lips. She does that a lot, I've noticed. "I want to-" she leans over me and holds my face while she kisses me. She does this multiple times and I start to smile under her lips. The kisses get more intense and then I hear something... someone... downstairs.

"Leah? We're home!!" Her parents yell.

I know she hears them, but she's not phased by it. She continues kissing me and I push her away. "Okay, stop. Your parents are here." I laugh.

"Shh, I wanna kiss you."

"I want you to kiss me, but you can kiss me later." I laugh.

She smiles and climbs off of me and I follow her downstairs. This could get awkward... I haven't really seen her parents since Danny and I split and I am sure they have some questions.

I enter the family room and her mom is shocked to see me. "Oh, Jennifer. Hi honey! I wasn't expecting you.." she says.

I smile and she hugs me and kisses my head. "I came to see Leah." I explain my presence and she then looks at Leah.

"I was going to ask if you wanted to meet your brother for dinner as a family, but I guess not." She sighs, almost sounding upset. I take it that she is aware of the tension between Danny and Leah.

Leah rolls her eyes and shakes her head, "I'm not having dinner with him. Even if Jennifer wasn't here I wouldn't go anywhere with him." She sasses.

I look at her and give her a look that says "shut the hell up" and she cools it.

"I'm- I'm sorry. There's just a lot of tension right now, more than usual... I'm happy you're home, we'll be upstairs." She says to her mother, turning on her toes and walking away.

We go back up the stairs and Leah stops halfway up. "You want wine?" She asks.

"Mm, please." I grin.

She nods and heads back down while I go to her room. Leah comes back with two glasses and a bottle and I smile widely. Bless her.

"Gimme." I say and she laughs and hands me a glass. "So, as I was trying to say... show me your pictures." I say.

She raises her eyebrows and sits on the bed in front of me, "why?"

"Because, I want to see what you do." I say.

"No one ever asks to see them..." she laughs.

"Well, I am. Now show me?" I demand.

She shakes her head and goes to grab her MacBook from the desk. She opens it and goes to her files and then slides it to me. "Scroll away..." she says, unenthusiastically.

As I go through her pictures I'm very impressed. She's a damn good photographer. Most of the pictures are of buildings, bridges, lakes, etc. the basic travel stuff. Then I get to a section that's much different.

There are lots of pictures of a girl with pretty blonde hair and a super bright smile. I click one to make it full size and point at the screen.

"Who is this?" I ask. She comes around behind me to see what I'm looking at and she closes the photo.

"That... is my ex." She says and deletes the pictures one by one.

"Wait..." I say. I open another picture of the girl and notice her hand. "Were you serious?" I ask and look over my shoulder at Leah.

"Serious enough for me to propose to her." She laughs and shakes her head.

"I didn't know that."

"There are a lot of things you don't know, Jennifer." Leah sighs, continuing to delete photos of the blonde.

"I want to know... I love knowing things about you and seeing stuff like this. You said no one ever asks about your pictures and work and stuff, but I do. I'm not asking to pass time or make conversation... I'm asking you because I care." I say.

She smiles softly at me and kisses my shoulder. "I'm glad you care, but this...this isn't what you should care about." She says and pushes the computer closed.

I've figured out that Leah is very closed off... she doesn't open up very easily and just when you think you have her figured out, she goes and shows you another side or piece of her. She's like a never ending mystery, but I kind of like that about her.
