Skylar p.o.v

I growled at hearing his name. My mate. Someone who I was supposed to share this profound bond with. All I could think about was ripping his throat out.

The sound of my daughter crying brought me out of my dark thoughts. I made my way upstairs to the guest room Caine had someone set up for us.

'Hi, baby.' I cooed as I picked her up. She was dressed in a soft purple onesie. She looked so content and peaceful.

'Sky.' I heard Caine's voice. I turned to see him Luke and my brother standing in the doorway and for a moment I felt flooded with panic staring at the three large men surrounding me.

'Skylar.' Luke breathed as he walked towards me. I stood there staring at him feeling the mate bond wash over me. My body was tense and I couldn't help it my wolf was still on high alert.

'Thank the goddess you're safe.' Luke said as he embraced me in a tight hug. It felt good to be in his arms again I could feel my wolf starting to relax. I leaned into him and sighed I was okay.

'You had the baby.' Luke said slowly letting me go.

'I had no choice.' I replied gazing down at my beautiful daughter.

As if in slow motion Luke took her from my arms. The nightmare flashed through my mind and the images of my dead daughter set me off. I attacked. I clawed at his arms making sure not to hurt my child.

' Don't touch my daughter.' I snarled as I took Amara out of Lukes's bloody arms.

'You never touch her.' I growled at him so ferociously the room shook.

He was her father but I will not let my nightmare come true. No harm will come to her. I walked out of the room and made my way to the library. I liked it here it was quiet and the smell of old books was interesting.

'What is wrong with me?' I asked my daughter as we sat in the window bench.

Lukes p.o.v

I was beyond relieved seeing Skylar was ok and the baby was safe. I wish I could have been there I wish she wouldn't have had to go through that alone.

'Luke she might look alright physically but she hasn't said anything about how she is mentally.' Caine said to me before we entered her room.

She stood there holding our daughter. She looked at peace and happy cooing at the baby. I slowly made my way over to her assessing the situation before doing anything. I stood in front of her for what seemed like eternity before I held her.

I held her tight afraid that if I let go she would disappear. I thought I lost her and I had never been more scared in my life. This beautiful woman in front of me was my life and she gave me reasons to live without her I would be nothing.

As I let go of Skylar I gently took the baby from her arms. It didn't take me long to see what a mistake it was. Something in her was set off she attacked me clawing and snarling.

'You don't ever touch her.' she growled before she left the room. I stood there blood-soaked in confusion of what just happened.

'Are you ok?' Mason asks as he approached me the fear evident on his face.

'What was that?' was the only thing that I could put into words.

'I told you. She went through something that none could understand we don't know how that affected her mind.' Caine said as he laid his hand on my shoulder.

'Did she tell anyone about it?' I ask Caine hoping for some insight.

'No. But she hasn't done anything like that either.' something you did or said set her off.' He replied.

'She's just scared. I could feel it rolling off of her. I know you guys felt it too.' Mason said looking at us with concern.

'She will be ok. We're going to fix this.' I said. Hopefully, it's not too broken.

There is a lot my kind doesn't know about our history. There's a lot who only believe it's fairytale. The Royal, The protectors and the moon kissed are told as bedtime stories. But what everyone fails to realize is that every fairytale comes from some truth.

The moon kissed are those chosen by the moon goddess. They are the light the pure when we lose our way. Skylar is a moon kissed child. She is calm she is serenity.

Then there are the Royals. They are chosen to lead us in times of peril and hardships. They are the Alpha of the wolves. One day Amara will take on that role.

Then there are the protectors. They protect the moon kissed and the royals. They are a different breed altogether. They are the warriors. The protectors and the moon kissed work as one to protect the Royals.

I'm an elder. You don't get the title from the age you get it from wisdom and experience. I was sent here to bring Skylar and Caine together. There is no easy way. I'm stripping my brother from his pack his mate and his newborn son.

I will be hated for this but the elders need to ensure the protection of Skylar and Amara. They are all about to get a rude awakening. Who will survive and who will break?
