Skylar's p.o.v

I let my body drift into an unconscious state as my wolf watched over us. I was standing in a field covered in the fog. I called out for Luke and got no response. I frantically started searching for my mate and my daughter. I didn't understand what was going on. Where was I?

'Skylar.'  I heard a disembodied voice drift through the dense fog.

'Who's there?' I yell out trying to glimpse at the figure standing off in the fog.

'Who am I?' The chilling voice came again.

'I'm the man who is going to take your family from you.' He said as he got closer. His appearance was becoming clearer.

'Luke.' I breathed out a breath of relief and ran towards him. I embraced him in a hug thanking the moon goddess that he finally found me. His skin felt cold his touch felt dirty.

'What's wrong?' I ask as I step back and look at him. His eyes were pitch black and his smile was sinister. I felt fear strike me to my very core.

'Who are you?' I ask. This wasn't the Luke I know. This man was dark, scary. Out of instinct I slowly started to step back.

'I'm the man who kills you.' He grinned before he plunged his hand into my chest and ripped my heart out. I felt my life leaving me, I watched my body fall lifelessly to the ground my heart in his hand as he laughed. I laid there my body useless. I was dead. Killed by the hands of my mate.

I cried out from the pain of betrayal I felt. I watched as he stooped down and picked up a bundle of clothing. He turned to me giving my broken body a better view of what he was holding.

It was my daughter. My sweet Amara.
I wanted to attack him, to kill him for putting his hands on her but my body was useless.

'Sweet little baby.' He cooed as he caressed her face with his hand covered in my blood. I felt repulsed. I watched as he snapped my baby's neck and dropped her little body. I shrieked and wailed but no sounds came out.

'Oops.' He laughed as he left disappearing into the fog.

I woke up from my nap to find three large figures standing in front of me. I forced myself to stand a get ready to attack. I watched as they slowly walked closer I let out a warning growl causing them to stop. After a few minutes, one of them began walking forward.

I braced myself and growled again. I felt an unknown power surge through my body. There was so much force that it knocked him off his feet. He laid there stunned until cries filled the cave. I caressed my daughter with my snout as I kept my eyes on the unwelcomed guest. I slowly and gently grabbed the cloth bundled around her in my mouth and took off on the opposite side of the cave. There an opening deep within the cave that led to a forest.

I was in complete survival mode. My body screamed in protest begging me to stop but I needed to protect my daughter. I ran through a dense forest and the further I got the more familiar my surroundings became.

I had reached Alpha Caine's territory. I didn't realize just how far away from home I managed to get. I sighed with relief being in a familiar area. I continued my steady pace heading towards the packhouse. Caine will help me. I could trust Caine.

I ran until I was surrounded by Caines pack members. To them I was just a trespassing wolf. They made the circle tighter and tighter giving me no room to move, no room to attack. I gently put my daughter down and laid down on the forest floor putting my head just above my sleeping child's body.

Seconds turn into minutes as we sat like that no one moving no one making a sound. I heard the thudding of footsteps coming closer before the tight circle wolves opened to reveal their Alpha.

'What's going on here.' he said as he stepped into the circle. He looked over at me and his eyes filled with tears as he took in my appearance.

'Skylar.' his voice came out choked. He slowly walked over to me and gently laid his hand on my head.

'What happened to you?' He asked. All I could do was whimper in pain.

' Get the pack doctor, bring some clothes to my house for her and the baby.' He barked out orders.

' Skylar can I take your child while we head to my house?' he asked his voice soft.

I slowly stood and picked my daughter up. I nudged him with my head indicating that I wanted him to take her. He wouldn't hurt her. I could trust him I don't know why. We walked into his house and I was greeted by a doctor and the smell of food.

' I'm going to need you to shift back.' The doctor said sweetly. I shifted and felt the eyes of everyone in the room. The look of pity I was getting was overwhelming. I wanted to cover myself and cry but I was stronger than that. I stood there with my head held high not letting my face betray what my heart felt.

'I'm fine.' I rasp my voice hoarse from not talking for days.

'Your injuries are bad Sky.' Caine said his voice heavy with emotion.

' Let's get you treated and fed.' the doctor said as she began cleaning my injuries. We sat there for hours as she worked. She cleaned and stitched and poked and prodded. But finally, she finished and I felt better than I have in a long time.

I sat on the couch with Caine. I absentmindedly ran my fingers over my leg where I was shoot. The doctor stitches it and it was finally starting to heal.

'Here.' Caine said bringing in a tray of food.

'Are you okay?' He asked. I nodded my head not really sure what I was. Cain's began asking me question after question as I scarfed down food and breastfed Amara. I answered as many questions as I could the whole thing was a blur.

'Luke is here.' He said. My body tensed, my appetite disappeared. He's my mate but I can't help remember the nightmare I had it felt so real.
