I had done it! I had successfully avoided everybody over the weekend. Seriously somebody should give me a medal or a trophy or something, it was hard work. I know you may think that I just lied in bed for the whole weekend but you are wrong. If you ever want a challenge, try to withhold boy information from Robyn it was exhausting! Plus avoiding Calum. Let's just say I had a lot of 'plans' over the weekend that were in actual fact me watching Netflix.

But now it was Monday morning and I had no choice but to face them. And before you say that I should have played sick and stayed off school, I have one question for you. Have you ever tried to play sick to a real life nurse? I've only ever got away with it once when I put on 6 pairs of fluffy socks on to make my temperature go up. I doubt I could get away with it now though. I threw on a maroon shirt and dark blue jeans. Shoving my feet into tanned, knee high boots, I checked my phone. After the completion of my make up I brushed my teeth and grabbed a grey sweater. I know I get ready in a weird order, really I should have gotten dressed after my make up, I would have avoided the access blush that had fell onto my leg.

"Bye mom," I called before leaving the house and getting into my car. Okay today is going to be like any other day, nothing is going to be different. Austin will not take a second glance at me, I'll have boring lessons and Calum will not suspect a thing. I think I'm getting a bit ahead of my self, I mean we only had a 5 minute conversation and here is me thinking he's going to treat me different. Maybe a smile in the hallway but besides that everything will be normal.

I spotted Robyn in the food hall and went to sit by her. "How was the concert?" Calum asked walking over to us.

"Well..." Robyn started. I stomped on her foot to shut her up.

"It was okay but we left early," I said.

"Why?" He asked.

"Yes Violet why did we leave early?" She said with a devilish smirk. I was going to kill her if she kept this up.

"I had a curfew, plus it was too cold.

"I wasn't cold," Robyn commented innocently.

"Ye but that's because you where draped over some boy," I smirked. She shot me a glare. "Oh my god you guys, I forgot to tell you! Guess who I saw on Friday."

"I could certainly guess," Robyn mumbled.

Ignoring her comment I spoke again. "Brandon Cunningham!"

Calum began to cough uncontrollably and Robyn straitened up. "THEE Brandon Cunningham, The same Brandon Cunningham that you almost lost your virginity to???!!!" She asked practically exploding.

"Yeah,"

"Was he at the concert?" Calum asked, a frown appearing on his face.

"No I ran into him when I went for a meal."

"What did he say?" Robyn asked.

"He told me that he missed me," I answered honestly.

"He was an absolute douchebag!" Calum growled.

"Calum chill," Robyn said.

"No! He was a dick I mean he broke up with her because she wouldn't sleep with him,"

"I broke up with him,"

"He was a dick I mean she broke up with him because he kept trying to pressure her into sex," he corrected himself.

"What did you say when he told you he missed you?" Robyn asked.

"I said that we broke up because we wanted different things, then he was like so you don't want the same thing as me." It was simple with Brandon, he wanted sex and I didn't.

"Wait do you not want the same thing as him now?" Robyn questioned.

"I don't know, I wasn't ready I mean the whole thing was embarrassing." I said covering my face with my hands. I still had nightmares. I got so close to sleeping with him I really did. I even saw him naked. But I chickened out at the last minute, thus why he remembered seeing me in my underwear.

"Seriously Violet it's not big deal, it's just sex. I can't believe you didn't do it with him," she laughed.

"I think it's more than just sex, it's personal. When I'm ready I'll know but until then I won't be doing it."

"Oh my god Violet you're such a prude!" Robyn laughed.

I looked down at my hands. "Don't worry Violet, she's just a slut." Calum said coming to my defence, a smile appearing on his face. Robyn let out a fake gasp threw a pen at him. I smiled at Calum and rested my head on his shoulder. I could feel him take a deep breath out.

"You're my little virgin buddy," I smiled. "We'll be 40 year old virgins, maybe we can co-own some cats."

"Oh my god this is the biggest sex pity party in the world!" Robyn sighed. "Okay I've just decided, in 10 years if you two are still sad miserable virgins, you are going to sleep with each other and then you'll see that sex is no big deal and you can go live your lives,"

"Robyn!" I giggled.

"Well I think that is my cue to leave, I'm going to go and find Lucas. You guys have fun with... What ever you guys do when I'm gone." And with that Calum left us. Lucas was Calum's other friend. Calum's main friends where me and Robyn, and then he had all his band friends, but in school his 'bro' as some would say was Lucas. I on the other hand wasn't too fond of Lucas. He was okay, but I don't know I got a weird vibe from him, he would sometimes sit with us, and Calum would sometimes sit with him but they weren't out of school friends. And I certainly wasn't close enough to invite him to my house. Plus I was 99% sure that him and Robyn briefly had a thing, although both parties denied it.

"Sooo, about Austin...." Robyn started.

"I'm going to stop you there, I'm late for lesson," I lied. I smiled at her before I left her and headed towards my English class.

For the first time in my life I was actually trying to avoid Austin. I didn't want him to talk to me, it was a weird feeling. I'd spent most of my high school life hopping that he'd notice me and now that he had I was trying to not run into him. I liked the fact that Austin was a day dream, somebody I didn't know personally plus I didn't like drawing too much attention to myself and where ever Austin went, a sea of girls followed. Okay maybe I am over selling him slightly but he did have a lot of friends.

I avoided all the places he would usually be, I walked the long way to English so I didn't have to pass the gym. At break I made Calum and Robyn sit outside with me because 'I was feeling ill and needed fresh air'. So far I was successful, he hadn't saw me all day.

"Okay what's the deal?" Robyn asked me as I swung open my locker.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I mumbled not making eye contact with her. I knew exactly what she was talking about. I hadn't told her anything about the concert and it must have finally got to her.

"Spill the beans!" She exclaimed playfully jabbing me with her finger. "You've been avoiding him all day and avoiding me all weekend, I know something has happened. Was there a spark?"

"No there was loud music and stoned teenagers," I remarked dryly.

"Don't use that tone with me missy,"

"Why does it even matter?"

"Because it's Austin Hendrix!"

"Are you two losers talking about my boyfriend again?" A voice from behind us barked.

We turned around to see a very smug looking Kim. Kim was one of our best friends in middle school but she had some how managed to grow boobs 2 years before the rest of us. After that she started to kiss boys under the monkey bars, I can't imagine anything more romantic than locking lips while a bunch of her 11 year old class mates played dodge ball around the corner. She hasn't been the same since she bought a bra, maybe she wears it too tight an it cuts off the blood supply to her brain, that would certainly explain her test scores.

"Well..." She asked tapping her foot. Austin was another one of her victims but rather than the monkey bars it was the back of his car and instead of a kiss it was 3rd base. To her this automatically meant they where a 'thing' and the more it happened the more she believed it when in actual fact she was his booty call.

"Oh stick a shovel up your ass Kim," Robyn growled.

Ignoring Robyn she turned to me, her blue eyes piercing mine. "Back off,"

"You're not even dating him," I rolled my eyes.

"Not at the moment, but you know me and Austin, we're always on and off."

Robyn snorted, Kim shot her a glare before continuing. "I don't know why I'm even worrying, he'd never even look at you never mind speak to you."

My head tilted as I looked down to the floor and that's when I heard him. Him being the person I'd been avoiding all day.  "Violet hey, I've been looking for you" This caused me to lift up my head and meet his eyes. He was smiling, one of those smiles that made you want to smile back, so that's what I did. I gave a small shy smile. "Are we still on for our date tonight? I'll pick you up about 7" he asked. I knew what he was doing.

"Sounds great"

That's when he glanced to his right. "Oh hi Kim I didn't even see you there," he smirked, obviously lying. Kim's mouth practically hit the floor, she turned on her heels and stormed off the other way. Austin sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Just ignore her, she's sort of...." He couldn't think of the right word.

"Obsessed!" Robyn chipped in. Austin laughed slightly an nodded.

"Well thanks for helping me escape your terrifying stalker," I smiled turning around, Austin grabbed my wrist and held me back. Turning to look at him I raised my eyebrow.

"I was serious, I've been looking for you today" he smiled. Oh that's funny because I've been avoiding you today "I really do want to go on that date with you and you've just agreed so I'll pick you up at 7, wear something comfortable,"

"But...." I mumbled trying to think of an excuse.

"Nope, you already said you would go. No getting out of this one"

"You don't know where I live,"

He chucked at this. "I'll pick you up at 7, wear something comfortable" he repeated before walking off.

"Did he just..." I stuttered.

"You've got yourself a date,"

"It's not going to be a date, Calum would kill me."

Lunch was.... Different then usual. I spent the majority of the time trying to avoid Kim's dirty looks and Austin's smirks.

"I'm coming to your house to help you get ready," Robyn whispered to me. I glanced at Calum, he was distracted by Lucas.

"Why?" I whispered back.

"Because you're my best friend and you're going on a date with Austin Hendrix, I'm not letting you out looking like a sad clown."

"Wow thanks," I giggled sarcastically. I caught a glance of Austin while he wasn't looking. What was I doing? "But it's not a date,"

***

"What do I even wear!" I sighed flopping onto my bed and staring at my celling.

Robyn glanced at me out of the corner of her eye. She flicked her long black hair over her shoulder as she pushed my clothes from one side of my wardrobe to the other. "Something you can get on your knees in," she smirked.

I shot up. "What! No, you don't think he..." I mumbled barley capable of getting my words out.

Robyn shrugged, "I don't know, don't do anything you don't feel comfortable doing... But,"

"But what,"

"You heard what Calum said. I'm not trying to rain on your parade here but he's never been in a serious relationship,"

"So you think he's only taking me out so I'll go to 3rd base"

"You know what no, he's never taken Kim out on a date. Forget I even said anything," she gave me a reassuring smile. But that was the thing, I couldn't forget. He did say wear something comfortable. "This!" Robyn beamed pulling out light blue skinny jeans and a white flowery blouse. I nodded, I liked it.

"By the way," I smiled. "It's not a date,"

"Whatever," she chuckled

"Hair?" I asked.

"I'll straighten it for you,"

So for the next 30 minutes I sat cross legged on the floor while Robyn sat on my bed straightening my hair only occasionally talking to say we liked the song that was playing on my speakers.

"Don't forget to shave your armpits and legs" Robyn called as I went to brush my teeth.

I shook my head but took her advise never the less. By 6:45 I was fully dressed with my hair and makeup done but most importantly I was hair free in the armpit and leg department. I was starting to get nervous now, where was he taking me? Was I underdressed? Was I overdressed? What if he didn't show up? Did he even know where I lived? Did he definitely say tonight? Was it just a joke a never caught on to?

All these questions danced in my head. "You have to call me the minute you get home, no wait the second. The second you get home you call my number, as soon as you open your front door you better be pulling out your phone!" Robyn warned me. I gave a quick nod, unsure that I would be able to squeak out a sentence. "Oh and don't do anything I wouldn't do,"

"Oh ye, that sure leaves a lot,"

"Where are you going?" Mom called popping her head around the kitchen door.

"She has a date." Robyn smirked.

"With the basketball player?"

I nodded.

Mom smirked "your curfew is 11, don't be late" she warned.

"Thanks but it's not a date,"

There was a knock at the door, "That'll be him," I said shoving my nerves to one side. He was standing on the porch smiling.

"Shall we?" He asked taking my hand and pulling me to his Porsche. Oh that's something else about Austin, he was really rich. Both his mom and dad were big lawyers, well step dad. Calum and Austin don't share dads. Austin got this car when he turned 18. Calum was more subtle about his family's money, don't get me wrong he still wore nice clothes and drove a nice car, even if it wasn't as nice as Austin's. But he used his money for other things, for example he paid the majority of the rent for the place where his band practices, not that I've ever been there.

As he opened the car door for me I glanced at the house. Both Robyn and my mom where looking out of the window at us and both had their thumbs up. I saw mom mime 'nice car'. Ignoring them, I fastened my seatbelt.

"Are you ready for the best first date of your life?" He asked.

"This isn't a date,"

"Oh really?" He smirked. "Then what would you call it?"

"Two people who met at a concert bonding," I smiled weakly, the truth was I didn't want to call it a date as it made me feel slightly better about the fact Calum would hate this, so I didn't call it a date. As if that would make him feel better.

Austin laughed. I looked at the back seat of his car and nearly threw up, god knows how many girls he's had in here. I wasn't ready for this. Austin gave me a quick nod before bringing the car to life and driving away. I said nothing for the first 5 minutes of the journey unable to think of anything besides Kim. Weird right? I was out with the hottest guy in school and all I could think of was my ex best friend in the back seat of the car doing who knows what. Austin sensed there was something wrong.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I don't want to go to 3rd base," I blurted. Are you kidding me 'I don't want to go to 3rd base'? I couldn't believe I just said that. I clasped my hands over my mouth to stop any other embarrassing things escaping why don't I just tell him my bra size, or that when I was 9 I peed myself while sitting on santa's lap.

It caught him off guard, his eyebrows knitted together as he thought of something to say.

"I'm sorry I mean you, you sought of have a reputation and if that's what you have in mind tonight then you have the wrong girl, and I realise I've just humiliated my self and you probably think I'm insane for just blurting that out, and when in get home I'm going to go online and buy a one way ticket to Canada," I mumbled covering my eyes with my hands. I literally couldn't stop talking it was like word diarea.

Although I couldn't see him I could hear him chuckle which then turned into a laugh. He had to pull over. This was officially the worst thing ever first I made a fool of my self, then said he had a reputation and now he was laughing at me. "Forget the Canada, when I get home I'm going into the back yard and digging myself a very big hole so I can go an die in it." I mumbled. He looked at me, his stare causing me to meet his eyes.

"I didn't expect that of you, that didn't even cross my mind."

"I'm sorry I really think I have a problem, forget this, can we just drop me off at a mental institution"

He chuckled again and pulled back onto the road.

"And just for the record," he said licking his bottom lip. "I don't pass 1st base on the first date,"

***

"So where are you taking me?" I asked. I had been in the car for a good 15 minutes at this point.

He smirked, still keeping his eyes on the road.

"Are you trying to go for the mysterious guy who is quiet and keeps you guessing but is always there when you need him because secretly has a heart of gold once you get to know him?" I asked facing him.

"Isn't that like the plot of twilight?" He grinned.

"Mostly yes, but he watches her sleep."

"I promise I won't watch you sleep," he laughed quietly.

After another 10 minutes of driving we finally reached our destination. "The zoo?" I asked sliding out of the passenger seat. He sheepishly looked down at the floor.

"Ye I thought you'd appreciate it,"

I looked at my phone. "It closes in like an hour"

"An hour an a half," he corrected grabbing my hand an pulling me behind him.

Once we had entered the zoo Austin bought a map and we began to make our way around, it was relatively empty due to the fact it was now 7:30. "So, whats your favourite animal?" He asked as we neared the penguins.

"I like elephants," I shrugged.

"I was hoping you'd say that," he smirked.

"Why where you at the concert?" I finally asked, I'd been wondering this since I saw him there.

"What do you mean?"

"Well no offence, but I didn't take you for the concert type,"

"I'm not usually, but I saw a flyer for it and I had nothing to do. I think it worked out for the best though," he smirked.

We walked around the zoo for half an hour looking at all the animals, then something dawned on me. "You haven't told calum you're here with me have you?" I asked hoping the answer was no.

"I haven't seen him, but something tells me that when I do see him you don't want me to mention it,"

"Errrrr well you see, I don't think calum would like it very much,"

"And whys that?" he smirked.

"Forgive me for saying this, but you two don't get along that well. At least I don't think you do, I've never seen you two talk to each other. I just don't think he'd like the fact that we're here considering he's like my best friend,"

"Wait you don't know?" He asked

"Know what?"

Austin paused, it almost looked like he was trying to make up a lie. "Why we don't talk that much," he answered finally.

"I never asked calum, it was never any of my business"

He bit the inside of his cheek, I was extremely curious as to why they had a mutual disliking but I kept quiet.

"I want to show you something," Austin finally said taking my hand in his and leading me through the zoo.

We came to a door with 'staff only' written across it. I looked at him skeptically.

"What?" He laughed. I nodded towards the sign. "Well in that case we better make sure that we aren't caught," he smirked.

"We can't get in anyway," I said indicating to the lock on the door
