VIOLET POV

Crash!

The plate slipped in my hands and fall into the floor, breaking into a hundred pieces.

"Oh ma' god?! You o.k Vi?" Gina asked worriedly and pushes me gently, away from the small traces of broken glass.

"I'm o.k Gina." I answered in a faint feel of sickening anxiety. Gina sighs in relief and took out a broom and a dustpan from under the cupboard.

"I'll clean it." I said to my only human friend. She gave me a look if I was joking and I said no, she screams like she always do when she's mad.

"Na-ah! You ain't cleaning this trash! You just got back from my hometown dela' Miami!? Aye' ye' haven't said thanks to you even yet you visited this black woman's parents there girl! So go there and take a rest or somethin'! I'm on this one!" She screams the case and starts cleaning the mess I made.

"Gina. Don't. I can clean that for you. I'm the one who messed it up." I whispered and marched forward to her to grab the broom; she kept the broom away from my reach to her right side and shook her head.

"Nah girl. I got this for you. I ain't letting a guest wash ma' dishes and clean our' home! Now shoo!" She protested.

I sighed in embarrassment. I was currently in Oron's apartment to seek information about the mysterious guy and my new hunting prey.

Gina was a beautiful loving woman and a caring one to add. I knew her since three years ago but anything about my work was kept confidential from her. I couldn't have her get drag into trouble. I couldn't take losing another one of my family. She's like a friend and a mother to me.

I let it go and left her in the kitchen and walked straight to Oron who was locked up in his room, searching for the information I needed. He was in a sound proofed room.

"Finish?" I asked him. Oron flinched and almost stumble in his chair, "Shit. Vi, don't go scaring me behind my back. I already had enough of that from Gina." He groaned.

"Sorry. I just need informations. Fast." I reminded him. He groaned faintly, typing in his computer in a whirlwind. Oron was a certified genius in the universe and he knew it too. Gina had a bright future up ahead but she doesn't ride it up and carves her way by taking small part-time jobs. Oron couldn't touch this topic with her while she cannot know about Oron's real work.

"Why do hunters all have to be the same? Can't they be patient? Especially the best hunters. Do this, do that, blah, blah, blah, blah.." Oron muttered in annoyance, complaining everything about hunters.

"Oron I can hear you." I said, leaning on a wall with my feet crossed and hands over my shirt, my feet untangles itself and keeps on tapping the floor to drive the boredom.

"Your just like Gray." He grumped up. I flinched at the sound of his name. I always had a thing for him but he was such a bumble-head to notice. I couldn't care less. Having him single and only for myself was enough. I won't think twice to kill the girl who tries to hawk him on my sight.

"Your blushing Vi." Oron said, his face still strung to the computer, typing in a fast-speed.

I frowned and shot daggers at his back. If he wasn't Gina's boyfriend and a source of important information, I would have planted holes in his body right now.

"I'm not blushing Oron. And what about Gray?" I asked calmly, acting like a cool woman which in fact was a love-struck one when it comes to my man. I was hoping to sniff out a bit of information bout' Gray from Oron.

"Sorry. Can't tell." He squeaked.

"Why?"

"I don't share my other client's secrets to an another client. Where's the appropriate limit of that?" He says in a one boring tone.

"I'll tell Gina your secret hobbies." I smirked.

"What secret hobbies?" He asked, his face still pasted on the computer.

"That you like watching porn's with bondage plays. But only when its hard and rough sex by black lesbians that look like Gi--"

"STOP!" Oron shouted, making him turned to me with a flustered look. I smirked with a followed pout and he grumbled in agitation, scratching his head in trounced.

So my idiot brother wasn't lying. He really watches those huh. Gina and Oron really got each other's ass whooped up. I snickered at Oron's pale face. Gina was his only weakness that I could touch freely.

"So what about Gray?" I asked in detached.

He muttered something I couldn't make out and stared at my way. I raised an eyebrow, letting him know I could easily rant out his juicy secret. He gulped, somehow afraid of Gina and the consequences of his daring hobby.

"Fine. But this is the last time that threat would work on me Vi." He snorted.

I smiled at him and nod in a pleasureful amusement.

"So?" I started the conversation that I opened.

"Gray asked me to find someone." Oron said, not looking me in the eyes.

"What? That's it?" I sounded disappointed but joyful.

"Oh, don't get me wrong. He was being childish about that someone."

"Someone? Who is it?" I asked. I'm sure I wouldn't like it if it was a woman. I'm the only one he needs. He just doesn't know it yet.

What could it be? Gray doesn't pay attention unless it has merits. So what could have trigger him..?

Oron cough to get my attention, I looked at him, embarrassed about my unsightly daydreaming. Still, I keep my cool act together.

Oron raised an eyebrow in entertainment and I gazed at him with an alarming look. He swallowed and sighed in a gamble.

"What happened?" I asked when I saw him move uncomfortably in hustles.

"Oron. What happened?" I asked one more time, saying the words more sharply.

"I didn't get to find that someone and now he's back to being moody." Oron replied.

"You mean you couldn't track that someone?"

"Not track. What's to track if there's nothing to track?"

"What do you mean?" I asked. I wasn't understanding anything.

Oron shrugged, "He seems excited about whoever gave him a piece of chocolate. Comical isn't it?"

Gray was excited over something other than hunting? Impossible. That's just unacceptable.

"I know what your thinking. That it's impossible right? Well, you don't really have to give so much thought about it. I think he's just stressed and delusional that time. He's back to his old self anyways." Oron said, reading my mind like the universal hacker he is.

"That's...nice to hear then." I muttered and said to my own annoyed self.

"Yeah, he's---"

KNOCK. KNOCK.

Oron and I snapped our looks to the door. It was probably Gina being Gina. She always do this as a reminder that Oron was her man and only hers.

I smirked. If only she knew how Oron is obsessed with her and that I had someone I find a compatible partner in my life.

"I know Gina." I smiled to myself and Oron looks at me in a confusing look but understand it as soon his face turned to a hopeless smirk.

We all went in the living room afterwards and Gina looked at me with a smile and turned her head at Oron suspiciously. I knew it was my cue to leave them now. I didn't want to get mixed and be the start of their fight.

"Where you goin' gal?" Gina asks.

"I'm going to work." I smiled and reached for my bag.

"Oh no your not yet. I know your free today. Oron told me." Gina said and made matters more awkward. Oron really couldn't lie to his woman unless it was secret work.

"I have some packaging left to do. Oron just says stuff."

"Stay." She says like a mother who scolded her daughter not to go out. I love the warmth of it but the event was uneasy to be my type to helve.

"I couldn't possibly-" Gina pushes out her her lips and shows me a scary pouting. I connected my eyes at Oron and ask him for help through eye-contact. He shrugs embarrassingly that he couldn't help me so I should let it be. Well I let it be.

I was stuck in the apartment. Gina made me wait in the Sala set with cookies and orange juice on the table. I couldn't reject her hospitality. I stayed.

"So' ye' other girls can watch ye' work but not Aye?" Gina quirked an eyebrow at Oron while pouring my glass with juice. I stayed quiet and made sure not to be part of their quarrel. Oron grumbled and mumbled under his breath like a string of complaints.

"Not this again woman." Oron looked at Gina with a tired expression.

I sat on one of the couches, eating the cookies on the table that Gina baked for me and my return in America. I watched them in my calm mood. I couldn't understand why they still hadn't get married. They already dated for three years and they live in one roof. Oron was 28 and Gina was 21.

Anyway, I never knew their fights were entertaining. My man-- Gray is always correct. I watched them while I put another good tasteful cookie in my mouth.

They were like an old marriage couple in their seventies fighting in wheelchairs.

"I told you it was work woman." Oron explained.

"Don't you woman me!" I avoided to be in their fight and grab me another juice.

"Then stop being jealous all the time! I'm not cheating on you! How many times do I have to show you that I love you!? Do I have to fuck you again now!?" Oron yelled sarcastically, making me choke on the orange juice I was drinking. I didn't expect Oron to grow hectic. It wasn't his character.

People do change. Gina got the great emotionless hacker wrapped around her fingers.

"What does fucking have to do with this!? I ain't talking about your dick! So fuck it off!" Gina shouted back.

This must be the reason they never got married.

"Tch.." Oron tssked and scratched the back of his neck before looking away from Gina, looking completely uninterested anymore.

"Derek!?.. Di you just-Did you just click your tongue at me!? Na-uh! No one does that to me." Gina spit fire at him. Oron stayed livid.

"I should be going now. I'm late for work." I said in a cool tone and looked at the two, I gave Oron the business look and reminded him about the information, he seemed to get it and waved a lifeless hand to me. Gina just smiled at me and ran to give me a hug.

"Sorry Vi. It's ain't that Aye' don't trust you. Aye' just jealous cause Oron ain't letting me into his life." She whispered softly in my ears as she hugged me. I smiled and hugged her back. I understand what she was saying. She was also a woman in the same situation in a pathetic love.

"I knew what you mean. Good luck Gina." I whispered back. We were hugging each other. I was facing Oron and I hand-signed him what Gina was angry about. He smiled and nod his head in guiltiness. Gina was out from the little small talk and advice I gave Oron. She was really sorry about her attitude. It showed in her actions.

I walked out from Oron's apartment and let out my car keys in the bag and head straight to my orange Porsche which was parked in the parking lot.

I loved my orange Porsche and so my best friend. She always loved to ride it with me.

Speaking of her...

"I should visit her. It's been a year since I last talked to her. I miss that old fashioned woman."

And I guess I should ask her about this bracelet.

I looked at the bracelet hanging on my wrist. It was an ancient werewolf bracelet. My heart beats fast and I beamed in a small blush. I didn't know why. I think I was a bit attracted to the guy who saved me. Just attracted. Not love. I had my love set on one man.

But why does a guy carries something like this? Maybe Vera can help. She's great at this kind of stuff.

I drove fast on my orange Porsche. I arrived at Vera's house for the thirty minutes I keep on driving. Her house was located in the center of the woods. She really loved being surrounded with nature. She was my best friend since I was 18.

I smiled when I reached her gates. I went for the back of my car and opened my trunk to get my souvenir for her. I marched forward in her happy home with a smile and excitement. I missed the woman I cared so much. My supernatural best friend was one of the best things that happened to me.

"Vera! I got you your favorite book--" I stopped. The house was burned down. It was all ashes. I could see the posts in her house being eaten by termites. It was all gone. Vera's beloved dream house was gone. Nothing but pile of rubble, dirt and ashes.

"Ve..vera?" I squeaked nervously. Maybe it was a prank and Vera was only showing me one of her new trained spells. After all she was a witch and I was hunter.

*FLASHBACK*

"Say your last words witch." I spat and smirked as I traced the dagger around her white neck.

The target this time was a witch named Vera dela Compte. Age: Unknown. Case: Illegal homicidal.

"Can you be my friend?" The witch asked and smiled sadly when she whispers it out of the blue.

I was startled by it. She was weird from all the targets I've hunted.

"You aren't fooling me witch. You're all the same!" I spat. I've been tracking her for six constant years and I've finally have the chance to end her. There was a specific date when the witches were weak and powerless. The night where the moon was in its highest peak.

She giggles sadly and I scoffed and sink the dagger that it cuts open her skin and blood races out.

"What's so funny? Your going to die." I hissed.

"Your eyes... I always loved Violet. They're so beautiful." She smiles.

"You...-stop lying! Nobody likes my eyes!!!" Nobody!!!!" I screamed and feel my hands tightened the compact around her neck.

"I do." She whispers softly.

"Liar!" I shouted and cut the side of her cheeks, it was a deep wound. Yet she smiled. She smiled warmly. It was an attack made without warning.

I smirked. I hurted her badly but she wasn't cursing me like all my other targets.

"Liar."

She smiles back. "Are you?"

"SHUT UP!" I cried. She was making me think to accept my ugly violet eyes. The eyes I've always hated. It wasn't damn beautiful at all. It was ugly and disgusting to look at.

"What do you know about me!? My parents had abandoned me for it and I get sent to a mental institution for children experiments then got into Hunters Society by being adopted to a man!" I shouted insanely and choked her.

Her smile never faltered and it made me rampant.

"Will...you..be my friend...?" She whispers...

I cried for the first time. I never met someone who was so nice to me. She, who wanted to be my friend, someone who wasn't afraid of my eyes. A person who told me that they were beautiful. It all opened my eyes.

She didn't deserve to die.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

"Vera stop joking!" I shouted and come closer to the burnt house, kicking the hallucination away from me.

"Vera..?" I called her again. It wasn't funny. And I knew that Vera knew that I hated jokes like this. There was something wrong. I couldn't help but shake and get an eerie feeling.

"If you don't stop this! I'll cut myself!" I warned. This threat always seemed to scared her and follow my every whim.

NOTHING.

"Ve...vera..?" My voice was shaking, "Hey.. I'll really cut myself.. If..--" My eyes protruded in agape as I saw a rotten corpse. I take smalls steps and stand in front of the corpse. My body began to broke down. It was a woman's corpse.

No. No. No. No. It isn't her. It isn't her. It's probably just a stranger. Maybe she changed house? I just arrived here from Miami after all and I've been out of contact with her for two years. I should find her. I promised to buy her new books. I promised to go shopping with her. I said I'll take her to a church. I told her were going to have a girls date.

"Vera.. Where are you?... Stop this--"

My eyes stared at the rotten corpse that was covered in ants and worms which give the smell of blood, burned organs and dirt. My eyes never left the place I was looking. There was familiar necklace that lays in it's neck. 'V and V.'

The written letters on the necklace make me laugh in disbelieve and tears came prickling down.

It was the present I last gave her when I went out for Miami.

I broke down. I cried. I bawled. I fell on my knees in front of the corpse and let the quiet tears fall from my unsightly face.

I grabbed for a handkerchief and wipe the ants and worms away from her body. Tears falling and getting sunken in her body.

"Vera.. Your so dirty.. You never got this dirty...why...how did you die like this...." I whispered while crying my head out. I hugged her corpse. I wasn't going to let her die like this.

A light shined and blinded my eyes as the sun hit it. My eyes were all red as I hugged Vera's dead body, liquids were falling nonstop on my face as I eyed the threatening light.

It was coming from a lighter. A silver lighter that was lying on her kitchen floor. Vera doesn't smoke and she always hated silver colors. I never let her watch or give her anything silver. It drives her crazy.

I bit my lips and my blood rushed. The adrenaline was cracking everywhere near my body. I was going crazy. But out of all I was going numb. I lose one important person in my life again.

I was weak..weak..weak..weak..weak..

weak..weak..weak..

WEAK.

I bawled like a baby as I hugged Vera's body closer to me. My lips quivering and my body shaking from stopping the hurtled sound I was giving. I was supposed to buy her a birthday present for tomorrow. It was her birthday. It was supposed to be...!..

"Vera....Vera.. Vera... " I hugged her body tighter. I couldn't feel anything from her body anymore. She was gone. The first person who had ever called me beautiful. She didn't deserve to die. There were others who should have died than her. She was only born as a witch. She was...

"I'll kill anyone who did this to you..."

"I swear on my life."
