Chapter 4- Instead of a wedding night....

Rose laughed loudly as Dennis narrated one of the incidences that he had shared with his brother. He smiled at her, noting how easily amused she could be despite the harsh frontier that she had.

He could see that even though many people were staring at her unusual attire and wondering what she as doing with him, she didn't mind it at all. Probably she was used to not caring about what others thought of her.

"I love you brother. I want to marry him," Rose said at last after she caught her breath. Dennis chuckled softly and said, "He is still a bachelor but I don't want my brother to steal my son's wife. That is just too disgusting."

Rose continued laughing and hooked her arm in his. She had quickly become comfortable with him, just like how she had with Daegon.

She could easily understand that Daegon was exactly like his father. Her husband, she supposed, must be like his mother.

"How come all the Spencer men are charming and nice except for the demon who I had the misfortune to marry?" Rose asked.

Dennis laughed smoothly and said, "Daemon is just a bit too moody, like a combination of his mother and his uncle. And to be honest, those two used to have legendary tempers. I still remember their fights."

Dennis smiled and then looked away while Rose remained silent. In the hour that she had spent with him, she figured out that he always brought up the past even if he didn't want to. It was just all that he thought about. He thought about what had happened and what could have happened. It was like he didn't like living in the present.

Their peaceful silence was broken by Dennis' phone ringing.

"Yes, Daemon?" Dennis asked. Rose watched as his expression turned from confusion to disappointment and then to resignation.

She felt her stomach drop.

"Daemon, are you mentally okay? You can't be considering doing that today?" Dennis asked exasperatedly.

"Whatever, you itself tell this to her," Dennis said at last and passed the mobile to Rose. She looked at him questioningly and took the mobile.

Dennis looked expectantly at her.

"What do you want?" Rose asked her new husband.

"You have to pack, we are leaving," Daemon said in a monotone voice.

"Sorry?" she asked incredulously, "what did you just say?"

"I have a case and we have a flight to catch in two hours. Get ready," he said in one breath.

"Go find someone else to order around," Rose said and cut the phone before he could respond. She handed the phone back to her amused father in law.

"You would probably be the first person to cut him out like that," Dennis mused.

"Well, he can't exactly expect all of us to just bend down at his feet and follow his orders," Rose said.

Seeing Dennis expression, she gasped and said incredulously, "He actually expects that?"

Dennis just shrugged and walked forward to his car. Soon he was driving as she stared out of the window.

"Why does he suddenly want us to go?" she asked at last. The question had been eating her.

"Ask him that," Dennis said. She rolled her eyes and hit his arm. Even though, she was supposed to see him as her father, he acted too young for that. It was like he was her new best friend.

"Asking him won't work out properly, so just tell me," Rose said.

"He must have probably got a case in US. A murder or something must have taken place and his boss must have asked him to fly overnight and come. He can't and most definitely won't say no."

" Well I can and I most definitely will," Rose said firmly.

Dennis looked at her and just shook his head. He would leave his son to deal with this mess all on his own.

"What took both of you so long?" Daemon asked as he ran to their car. Rose just rolled her eyes and pushed him out of the way.

"We have to leave," Daemon said trying to pull his wife towards the house.

Dennis just watched the scene in front of him amused.

"There you both are. I was wondering where you left," Daegon said as he walked out of the house.

"Where did you go?" Rose asked him.

"I was at the drink's table?" he said confused.

"If you both are done with this 'Where were you and I missed you conversation' , can we just leave?" Daemon asked impatiently.

Dennis snorted. Daemon turned to glare at his father and then turned back to his stubborn wife.

"Please...just come...I'll give you whatever you want," Daemon said.

Rose studied his face and said, "Fine, give me a good deal."

Daemon looked exasperatedly at her and replied, "I'll get you a new job as a teacher. I know you have a degree."

"Ok, but not good enough," Rose said studying her nails.

"Not good enough?" he asked incredulously, "isn't a new job enough for you?"

She shook her head slowly from left to right.

"Fine, I'll buy for you new outfits also," he said pleadingly.

"Ok, but not enough," she said.

Daemon clenched his fists and stared at the sky.

"Fine, a new car also?" he asked.

She smiled brightly, "Ashton Martin?"

"Yeah whatever. Is that fine?" he asked impatiently.

"That is brilliant. I'll be ready in five minutes," she said with a bright smile and hopped away to the house.

"Oh man, you are already whipped," Daegon laughed, "don't you think, dad?"

"Most definitely," Dennis smirked, "Smart girl she is."

"God knows what I am getting into," Daemon muttered and walked towards the house.

......................................................................................................................................................

Rose frowned as she looked at both the shirts in her hand. On was a black flowing top that was short sleeved while the other was a red halter top.

She was already in her white jeans and her bags had anyway been packed.

She smiled as she thought of what happened. She had always wanted to escape from France and this seemed like a brilliant way to do so. Now no more listening to her mother and attending millions of parties or anything. No more being stuck in the house. Now she could go wherever she wanted on her own free will.

The door suddenly burst open to reveal a very angry Daemon.

"Are you laying eggs or what? Come out fast," he said angrily. She grinned at him mischievously. She knew that getting him this worked up would only happen once in a while and she was enjoying this too much.

"Does this top or this top match me better?" she asked placing each top in front of her. He stared incredulously at her.

"I have a flight that will most probably be missed due to your idiocy and you are asking me which top matches you? Woman, grab some random top and get it on. Nobody cares," he yelled and walked outside.

She shrugged and put on the black top.

After putting on some lipgloss on her now make up free face, she went down stairs dragging her bag behind her.

"Are you trying to cause an earthquake woman?" Daemon snarled from below the staircase.

Rose always knew that couples call each other sweet names and it seemed that her husband had chosen the word 'woman' for her. How charming of him.

"Oh demon, anything for you," she replied with a flirty fake smile. He just rolled his eyes and glared at her bag.

Rose quickly noted that he got irritated very fast.

"What is happening now?" Daegon said as he entered. He saw Rose at the stairs and immediately rushed to carry the bag for her. She smiled thankfully at him and followed him to the car. On the way, she smiled smugly at Daemon who was, as usual, glaring at both of them.

Near the car, her parents and Dennis were waiting. It seemed that the rest of the guests had left, thankfully.

"My baby is leaving me!" Fleur cried and quickly enveloped Rose in a tight hug. Her father chuckled as he saw his daughter try to escape from his wife's death grip.

"Oui...mere..." Rose choked out and gasped in relief once her mother released her. She looked guiltily at her mother who had started crying and saying incoherent things.

"I'll miss you, ma Cherie," Pierre said as he hugged his daughter. She smiled and hugged him. She stepped back and looked at her father in law who looked left out.

Daemon and Daegon were arguing in the front of the car.

Rose went to Dennis and hugged him tightly. He went still but then chuckled deeply and hugged her back.

"Take care of him and yourself, ok?" he whispered and she nodded.

"When are you coming back?" she asked him.

"In probably a week, don't worry," he said.

It took whole of Daemon's strength to push her into his car. After more goodbyes and tears and hugs, they finally left.

They reached the airport in minutes and they were soon boarding the flight.

They had got a private jet and Daemon had become silent again.

Rose slept halfway through the flight and when she woke up, Daemon was just as he was when she went to sleep. He was studying the files in his hand.

Daemon looked up at her and sighed. Her hair was messy and her eyes looked very sleepy. But asking her if she needed something would sound too caring and that wasn't his style.

That was more of his idiotic brother's style. He couldn't believe that his brother had actually told him to call him up if he needed any advice on how to act in the bed.

His brother who was younger than him.

He turned back to the papers and sighed. The name of the person who had died was Melody Ioannou. Medium height of 5 feet 5 inches. Olive skinned with chestnut colored hair and hazel eyes. Her hair had been streaked light brown as well. If the pictures were true, she was very much on the pretty side. That was all the details he had got about her in this short while.

This wasn't working at all. Besides it wasn't like he had expected anything to be solved with the help of a few papers. He had to reach the place and investigate.

He sighed and turned back to his wife.

She was glaring at him from her corner.

"What do you expect me to do woman? It isn't my bloody fault."

She just showed him the middle finger and turned away.
