"Mom, Dad, this is my boyfriend Ezrah" I said nervously as my dad paused and looked at me like I was crazy.

"He's white." My dad stated making me mentally face palm myself.

"Really? I thought he was blue and he's mixed, black and white" I rolled my eyes.

"Excuse her father, it's nice to meet you Ezrah, you can call me Ms.Banks" My mom smiled.

"You can call me sir" my dad said.

"Kaelin may I speak with you in the kitchen?" My mom asked. I nodded and slowly followed behind her, my dad began walking towards him as we left out. I took in the nice house my mom rented in Maui as we made or way to the kitchen.

"This place must have cost a fortune especially on such short notice"

"You really thought this family vacation was an appropriate time to bring along some guy you met"

"Mom we've been dating since my freshman year at college" I revealed seeing her eyes widen.

"And I'm just now finding out?!" she yelled.

"Yes mom I was nervous to bring a guy home"

"Lord give me the strength" she mumbled closing her eyes, taking deep breaths.

"Have you met his parents?"

"Yes"

"Is he going to your college?"

"Yes mom he's a Christian, he's smart, funny and he makes me happy please give him a chance" I begged.

"I wish you would've told me you were bringing someone, we don't have enough rooms so you're going to have to share with Ketara and he can take the room I prepared for you" she smiled.

"Mom me and him aren't..we can share a room"

"I may be a laid back parent but ain't no shit like that happening in here. Don't think is over, we'll talk later" She said before leaving. I blew out a breath, it didn't go as bad as I thought it would. I quickly remembered Ezrah and ran out to see him and my dad laughing up a storm.

"I see you too are getting along, I knew you'd like him daddy" I smiled. My dad cleared his throat and got serious again.

"He's okay" he mumbled before walking away. I laughed walking over to Ezrah and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I told you they would grow to like you" I said before kissing his lips. We began making out but I was quickly dragged away. I looked up noticing Elijah standing there while Kash had him against the wall.

"Can y'all stop harassing my boyfriend"

"Boyfriend? You like 10 seconds old, go read a book" Kash said before turning his attention back to Ezrah.

"You not gonna disrespect the crib grabbing all on my sister like she some hoe off the street. You need to stay at least 5 feet away from her at all times. Matter of fact, you can share a room with us so we can bond and get to know each other" Kash smiled making Elijah nod his head in approval.

"Mom!" I shouted while walking up and smacking Kash away. Ezrah  look calm and fixed up his shirt that Kash has gripped up.

"Man I love your sister, I don't mean no disrespect. I ain't no bitch though so you can talk to me man to man or not at all. I'm letting things slide because y'all her fam but chill out" Ezrah spoke up. I smiled liking that my baby stood up for himself.

"I respect it dawg, I like that you ain't no bitch" Kash smiled.

"You ain't off the hook nigga" Elijah spoke up before walking away with Kash.

Golden

I relaxed onto the beach chair as the rest of the family set up their blankets. There was a bunch of us that's why I got such a big house. It was Symphani and her fiancée, Ka'ron, Trey, Addison, Shae, and her parents, my dad, my kids, Jayda even came along with Ava and Ada. After all these years, Kaelin and them were still the best of friends.

"Damn Gold your body still looking right" Shae said.

"Because my ass lived in the gym unlike your ass that just looks popping naturally" I joked being half serious. After I had Jayci I vowed not have anymore kids so I got my tubes tied and worked out every chance I got.

"I got something to do with that" Trey smiled.

"Trey shutup and I'm so happy we decided to have this vacation, I really needed it" she added as Trey rubbed sunscreen all over her. He was getting a little too into it causing me to laugh and Shae to smack his hand away.

"We have kids out here Trey" I reminded him.

"We could've stayed laid up in our room" he mumbled.

I looked around smiling as Ketara and Kaelin whispered and giggled to each other. Kaelin boyfriend was bonding with the guys and they were grilling some food for us to eat. My face turned straight when I noticed Kash and Elijah trying to get older women's numbers. I stood up putting on my cover up before walking over. I grabbed both of them by the ears and excused my self. The lady scurried away as I dragged them back to where I was.

"Sit y'all narrow assess down, always acting like y'all don't got no damn sense when we go somewhere"

"Sorry mama, we bored and just trying to find something to do."

"Bored? So your phones, game systems, tablets, lap top, the arcade room and pool and pool table in the house ain't good enough?" I asked. The house I got was right on the beach so it was only a few feet away.

"Arcade room? We too grown for that" Kash said standing up. Elijah also stood up then they began running towards the house. I shook my head not knowing what I was going to do with those two.

"Gold can you go get me a drink?" Shae asked.

"Sure, I was thinking going to get some for myself too, whatchu want?" I asked walking over to my bag grabbing my wallet.

"Get my something that'll have me feeling nice" she smirked giving Trey a look making me laugh.

"Nasty and I'll be back" I said before leaving. I went inside this place on the beach that had a bar and thought about what drinks to order. I looked to my right and noticed the same guy from the other day outside the shop. I bit my lips contemplating if I should talk to him or not. After having a long internal battle I finally stood up and made my way over to him.

"Hey" I smiled.

"Ms.Eavesdropper, we meet again" he smiled.

"Yeah I wanted to apologize for earlier, I don't know you and you don't owe me any explanation. It's just you remind of...I'm talking too much. Sorry again" I said before turning around to walk away.

"You good, I'm guessing you had a bad past with guys"

"Yeah I just assumed you were in a relationship from what I heard. I'm 38 so if I see or hear something I don't like I drop it because I don't have time to entertain bullshit"

"I get it but not every man you meet is like the last one, I'm 39 raising a child on my own so I don't have time for the childish games either"

"Childish?" I asked.

"Yeah childish, I don't have time for a woman to accuse me of things and jump to conclusions. I don't have time for pettiness and drama I try to keep myself away from it all"

"Well I'm usually not like that so I'm embarrassed, I don't know why I did that"

"All I wanted to do was ask you out a date but nope" he laughed.

"A date? With the master eavesdropper" I joked.

"I'll take my chances"

"I'll give you that chance but I gotta warn you, I haven't been on a date in a while so.."

"Me either so that makes the two of us and all I know you as is, beautiful cause I never got your name" he smiled.

"Yeah you kind of left before all that could happen"

"How about we start over with no assumptions and how about a certain someone keeps their ears to themselves" he teased making me blush from embarrassment.

"Okay no assumptions and no eavesdropping" I agreed.

"Hi how you doing I'm Malcolm" He said holding his hand out.

"Hi I'm Golden but you can call me Gold" I smiled taking his hands.
