Rosemary's P.O.V

Classes were done for the day. These past 3 days had been nothing but chaos. No class could properly end. In second period, the teacher ran out and said the couldn't handle it today. Rather being ashamed of themselves, my classmates laughed and booed her for being weak.

What happened to education being the main priority in the institution? Highly valued? Yeah right.

Lola convinced me to go to the school's cafe. At first, I suggested doing homework as well but she rolled her eyes and told me to not be a nerd. She laughed afterwards but I don't know if she was joking. It kind of looked like she meant it.

People worked on homework at one of the tables as they ate snacks. At other tables, people talked and listened to music. More of a chill vibe going on.

A crowd surrounded a table. Everyone tried squeezing in a place but failed. Disappointed, some people walked away and that's when I caught a glimpse of Violet. Oh of course! I should have guessed it. Wherever there was a crowd of fans, Violet was the cause.

I took a sip of my milkshake as I watched how they practically kneeled down to her. No wonder why she thought she was above everyone else. They gave her material for it. At the same time, I could not blame them. Violet was so damn beautiful. It was hard to not admire her beauty and get lost in it. Every time that I tried looking away from her, my eyes always found their way back to her. People were chatting her up and weirdly, it made me feel annoyed. The way they flattered her and got a smile from her.

It reminded me of when I first met her, when we bumped into each other. That Violet smiled at me and looked genuine. For a moment, I almost believed in love at first sight. How dumb.

Too bad that she turned out to be a completely different person.

"Ugh, they think they run the whole school just because they have brainless minions," Lola remarked, looking at them in disgust.

"I don't understand why people belittle themselves so much to get her attention," I added.

Lola's eyes shifted to me as she put her cup of coffee down. "Because they want to be popular," she answered. "They don't have any self respect," she stated. "Being part of Violet's main group gives you a name in this stupid school," she gave her head a little shake, finding it absurd.

"I don't understand it," I shrugged.

"Me either! And it's not like they're known by the correct name," she scoffed.

I felt my forehead crease, "What do you mean?"

Lola took a drink of her ice coffee before answering me, "The guy with the undone tie," she sort of pointed towards his direction without making too obvious. "His name is Mat but they call him Vince," she elaborated. "And that's because Violet told everyone to."

My eyes flickered in shock, "So she changed his name? And he was okay with it?" Like what was all that about? How messed up was that?

Nodding, Lola confirmed, "Yeah and as long as they can be popular, they'll allow Violet to humiliate them."

"I don't think that's right," I kept getting disappointed from the things I found out about Violet.

"Tell that to Violet, she's the one treating everyone as a toy and not like actual human beings," Lola remarked. "Rosemary, you're sharing a room with her and you're gonna see a lot of shit," she warned me about.

Let down by it, I shifted my eyes back to Violet and saw a guy being too close to her. Invading her personal space. Almost welcoming it, she acted flirtatious. A little bit, she pulled back but kept teasing him.

"Who's that guy?" I asked, not liking that he was getting way too close to her. I liked girls but even I could tell that the guy was not cute... okay maybe he could be attractive to anyone who liked guys.

Lola looked over, "That's Ryan. Someone who's always up her ass," she answered. In panic, I looked over at Lola immediately with my eyes wide-open. Lola chuckled. Oh no, hopefully she thought I looked frightened instead. Amused, Lola tried her hardest to not break out laughing, "I mean, I didn't mean it like that but yeah, that works too," she chuckled a little more. "I mean, I don't doubt  it. I'm sure they've hooked up already," she guessed.

Oh.

"Good for them then," I played with the straw and tried twirling it in the thickness of my milkshake. Just made myself look stupid.

The more I knew about Violet, the worst of a person she was becoming. Yet, I was intrigued by her and was extremely attracted to her. None of it made sense!

Time to remember that I was working for Mr. Delaney. Part of our deal was for e to tutor Violet. I finished homework early today. Violet appeared to not be doing anything important.

"Ready for your first tutor lesson?" I asked her.

"Ohh can I join?" Lucy signed up.

I thought about it. They could possibly distract each other. Maybe they could help each other though? Sometimes that worked when it came to friends. It all depended to be honest. From what I had seen these past few days, Lucy actually did her homework. I could see that she needed help too.

"We're not doing this," Violet protested.

"Oh yes we are," I began setting up in the dorm room. Violet was being stubborn, so I was gonna need Lucy's help. "Get your homework ready," I instructed to Lucy.

On her phone, Violet acted uninterested, "Whatever, tutor Lucy since you're already getting paid for it."

"I'm getting paid to tutor you though," I reminded. "So stop being on instagram and get your homework," I ordered.

"Rosemary, you might not have a life but I do, so leave me the fuck alone," she snickered while keeping her eyes on her phone at all times.

"Violet, come on! You know we need the help!" Lucy tried helping.

Lola called all of Violet's friends brainless but I didn't think Lucy was one of them. On the other hand, so far I was learning that she was one of Violet's more reasonable friends.

"Fuckin' get all the help you can get then!" Violet couldn't care less.

"Violet, you're only going to make things worse on yourself," I lectured since she was acting like a very immature and bratty child. Not that I expected anything different. "All your parents want is for you to do better!"

"Nice. I'll read their text all about it next time they take a trip," she was used to it, which was honestly kind of sad.

Another approach needed to be taken with Violet. Demanding her to do something only provoked the opposite. The girl needed to be asked because of her enormous ego.

Less hostile, I asked her kindly, "Violet, can you please do your homework with us?" I tried sounding as nice as I could. Something that was extremely difficult when it came to her. "Can you please gift us with your presence?" I could not believe that I was going down this bad.

Anything to get her to listen.

Violet made a thoughtful expression as if she were considering it. "Hmm, maybe for half an hour," she allowed.

"That's fine by me. It's all I can tolerate to be honest," Okay, I forgot to be nice for a second. "I mean, I'm already tired. That's what I meant," I tried using as a save. "Half an hour is perfect," I assured.

Half an hour was nothing but whatever. Aleast I tried my best and could say that to her parents.

"Eww," Violet stared at me as if I were some desperate freak.

Rather arguing with her, I let it go and focused on what was important.

We began the tutoring session. Luckily, Lucy was trying to keep up and was asking very helpful questions. On the other hand, Violet complained about me not knowing how to explain anything properly and according to her, I was contradicting myself.

To make matters worse, she was on her phone the whole time! How could she say that I was not explaining things right if she wasn't paying attention at all? Her eyes were glued to her phone!

I sighed, "Violet, drop your phone!"

"Mind your business!" Violet groaned. "Just because your phone is dry as fuck doesn't mean you gotta take it out on me!"

First of all, my phone was not dry. I had been communicating back and forth with my friends from my previous school. Trying to make plans. Violet knew nothing about my life, so she needed to shut up about it.

"Violet, you've been on your phone the whole time! Nothing is going anywhere! It's still going to be there when we're finished! I couldn't believe that she was so stuck on social media like that!

"What do you expect from me?" she questioned. "I'm fuckin' bored!" She sighed. I turned to look at Lucy. Maybe she could help me? The moment I did so, Violet stood up and went off, "Fuck this shit!" She looked offended. "I'm done with this bullshit!" She started packing her school materials but midway, she stopped, "On second thought, you can put everything away," mockingly grinning at me, she left everything.

I rolled my eyes, "Violet, at least clean up your things."

"Nope," she proceeded out the room.

In distress, I rubbed my temples and asked Lucy, "Why is she like this?"

In response, she shrugged.

Good thing that she left either way. I was about ready to body slam her.

Violet's P.O.V

Being in the same room as Rosemary was too hard! She was too beautiful and it was a distraction! I hated that I found her to be so damn attractive. Rosemary was such a good tutor. She knew how to explain everything so quick and simple but I lied and said that she was contradicting herself. In reality, I was just too distracted by how gorgeous she was!

I had to get my ass out of that room!

Earlier, Rachel invited me to hang out in the game room. Something about drinking and smoking. Today that was going to be the hang out spot. We switched it up every time to throw Mr. Hastings off our trail.

Almost reaching the game room, I ran into Vince. His name was actually Matthew and everyone called him Mat at first. By the way, he hated it! He was names after his grandfather from his dad's side. His grandfather did nothing but fill up his childhood with traumas. His name alone triggered him.

Thankfully, his other grandfather from his mom's side always spoiled him and gave him all the care in the world. His name was Vincent.

One day, he came to me and vented. From that moment, I asked him if he'd rather be called by another name, so he wouldn't be triggered anymore. The biggest smile spread across his face when he said he'd rather be called Vince in honor of his grandfather from his mom's side.

From that very moment, I told everyone that from now on, he was going to be referred as Vince. No one questioned it. Just did as told. My close friends were aware of the real reason. Everyone else, who knows but I honestly didn't care. It was up to Vince whether he wanted them to know or not.

"Everyone has been waiting for you!" Vince greeted me with a hug.

He was definitely one of my favorite people, "Hey, I'm here now," better late than never.

Vince chuckled, "I'll meet up with you when I come back."

My forehead creased, "Where are you going?"

Vince answered, "To get another bottle."

"Ah, make sure it's a good one," I joked.

"Anything for my earth angel," he assured.

Vince was the sweetest! I absolutely loved him! He was gay and no one knew this but me. Of course, I was not going to out him. He trusted me for a reason and I was not going to let him down. One of the reasons why his grandfather was always so horrible to him was because he always called him homophobic slurs as a little boy. I felt terrible for Vince. He didn't deserve any of it! No one did!

I gave him a smile, "I'll be waiting inside," I pointed towards the game room.

Once inside, I encountered the same old same old. Drinking. Smoking. Sniffing lines. Those I worried about since they tended to act out of line afterwards.

I accepted a drink from Rachel and went to my go-to group of friends. Listened to Edgar's and Nick's lates hook-ups. Boring. For entertainment, I looked at Melanie, whom was dancing provocatively with Chantel. Those two had something going on. They were always together and appeared to be best friends but obviously Chantel wanted more than just a friend with benefits.

Nothing could beat the best friend bond that Melanie and I once had. A long ago story.

"I'm bored," Nick commented.

Edgar shrugged at him, "I need to see two girls making out to be honest."

Hearing that, Melanie jumped, "Oooh! I know!" and with that said, she pulled me in.

As our lips were about to touch, I pulled away, "I don't feel like playing into this."

Sometimes, I went along with it because I was drunk and felt like making out with anyone. Honestly, it didn't really matter with who as long as they were cute. As of right now, I was too sober to be making out with Melanie though.

For the most part, I didn't feel like I could trust Melanie. We used to be best friends in middle school before it got ruined. Nowadays, it felt like she only pretended to be my friend for popularity. To get more followers. She felt like a clout chaser. As sad as I found it to be. People who were around me gained a lot from it. I never knew when someone was real with me or just wanted to benefit from it. I hated to think of it but I felt like Melanie would betray me in a heartbeat.

Melanie looked offended by my rejection but played it off quickly by smirking, "Yeah, whatever," and turned to face Chantel. "You're in luck," she pulled her in for a make out session.

Nick and Edgar hollered, encouraging them to continue.

Rachel looked unimpressed and then turned to me, "Where's Lucy?" She wondered.

"Playing school with Rosemary," I rolled my eyes at my own response. I could not believe that one of my best friends was playing into Rosemary.

Hating the mention of Rosemary, Rachel rolled her eyes, "That girl is ruining everything!"

Clearly, Rosemary was not used to anything that went on in Montgomery. Everything was new to her. We were used to all of the crap and knew how to get away with it. With time, hopefully she could get used to it and learn new tricks. For now, I understood her confusion but I was still going to give her crap for it because it was honestly hilarious!
