Rosemary's P.O.V

Since I did tell Violet that I was gonna try to set another lunch date with her parents, I had to look for the personal numbers to contact them. The card with their number was in my drawer but I had so many things in there that I couldn't find it. I had to toss things to the side and take a few out to make it easier.

Finally, I found it! Their personal phone numbers!

Taking out my phone, I started dialing Mr. Delaney's number. Put it up to my ear and waited for him to answer. He was a busy man, I prayed for him to answer. Violet really needed that bonding time with her parents.

"Hello," yes, he answered!

"Hello, Mr. Delaney? It's me, Rosemary Myles," I informed.

"Oh yes, how are you?" he asked. "Is everything fine with Violet?" he worried.

"She's fine but there's something bothering her," I answered. There was no response on the other side. "I found out that the lunch date was cancelled," I added and waited to see if he would say anything.

"Oh yes, I have an important meeting, I feel terrible for it but unfortunately my job does not allow me to have much time," he explained.

That was understandable but either way, Violet needed her parents affection.

I walked over to the stairs while speaking to him, "I understand," I responded. I didn't want him to feel attacked in any way. "But Violet was really upset about it," I informed. Before he could say anything, I continued. "I think it would be best to arrange another lunch date with you and your wife," I suggested.

"You're right, I want to make my daughter happy but I don't know when I'll have any time," he sounded doubtful. Like if he really wanted to make it work but couldn't find a way. Hmm, that was a bummer. I sat on the stair's steps and thought about a solution. "I'll buy her a diamond necklace and that will make her happy," he then said. That was not going to solve anything though.

"With all due respect sir, bribing her won't make her feel any better," I stated. There was no response. "That will only spoil her," I added. "I really think that you and Mrs. Delaney should make time for your daughter," I insisted, trying to get the point across.

"I know," he sighed. People were heard in the background. "Um Rosemary, my meeting is about to start," he informed, sounding hesitant. "Tell Violet that tomorrow will be the lunch date," he then gave in. Yes, I succeeded!

"Thank you, sir!" I couldn't contain the excitement.

He was about to hang up but then said something else, "And I would like to invite you to join us."

What!

"Thank you sir but I can't," I politely refused. This was just for Violet. For her to spend time with her parents. Me being there was not a good idea. Violet was not going to like it.

"Oh you must, we would like to know you better," he insisted. "You can't refuse, we'll see you and Violet tomorrow, I'll have Jeffry pick you up," and with that settled, he ended the call. Not even allowing me to refuse anymore.
Well like I said, Violet was not going to like it. I was going to be the third wheel, well the fourth wheel in this case. Wait, all four wheels were needed to function, right? Maybe that argument was going to work while defending myself from being kill by her.

I stood from the stairs and walked over to my bed. Took off my blazer and threw myself on my bed. The door was heard opening. My head lifted up from the pillow to check who had walked in. That was Violet. Her grin showed how much of a good mood she was in now.
I dropped myself on the bed again and looked up at the ceiling.

"Hey, have you spoken to my parents?" I heard her ask. My head turned to the side, seeing her take a seat on her own bed. I nodded. "What did they say?" she sounded and looked eager to know.

I sat up, "I spoke to your father," I started off. She motioned for me to go on. "Well," I was about to die. "I have good news and bad news," I stated. "Which one do you prefer first?" I gave her the option.

Her forehead creased, "Um, the bad news," she chose.

Actually, it would only make sense if the good news was given first. Too bad for her, I was going to give her the good news first.

"I'll just say the good one first," I decided.

"Then why did you ask me which one I wanted first?" she questioned.

I shrugged, "I don't know, I'm dumb," I excused.

"Finally you've admit it," she joked and stuck her tongue out at me.

Unappreciative of it, I squinted my eyes at her, "Not funny," I retorted. She shrugged, brushing it off. "Okay well, the good news is that you'll be having lunch with your parents tomorrow," I informed, making her squeal out of excitement. "Yeah, don't be so happy," I mumbled, making her give me a puzzled expression.

"Why?" she sounded worried.

"Because your dad wants me to go too," I answered and covered my ears. Even though my ears were covered by my hands, I was still able to hear scream. What the heck? Should could have woken up Valerie! My hands slipped away from my ears when I saw that she had stopped screaming. "Before you start threatening me, let me just say that I tried to refuse but he did not allow me to!" I explained. She was giving me the crazy eye. It really freaked me out.

"Well, you can't go!" she pouted. I couldn't understand why that made my heart flutter. Honestly, that made her look quite cute. "Rosemary, they aren't your parents, they're mine," she claimed. Wow, she needed to chill. I wasn't trying to steal them from her. I hardly knew them. Besides, I had my own parents, whom I loved.

"I know that," I replied and looked down to the ground while I thought of a possible solution.

"It won't be the same with you there," she muttered. I looked up through my eyelashes and saw her giving me an evil stare. "You always have to ruin everything," her arms crossed.

"Um excuse me?" I snorted with attitude. "I actually arranged for you to have lunch with your parents," I reminded. in case she had suddenly forgotten. "You ungrateful little brat," I insulted. Sorry but it needed to be said to her. She might have been used to everyone kneeling down to her but not me. Things were going to be different from now on. I was not going to put up with her bullshit.

"You're so mean," she gasped. "You didn't have to be so rude," she scoffed and flipped me off.

"I'm gonna break that finger," I warned.

"Fuck you," she said it nice and clear.

"Fine, what time?" I smirked, mockingly.

"Not even in your dreams," she looked me up and down, as if I did not have what she wanted. Oh please, she was totally checking me out. "Seriously though, you can't go tomorrow," she stated, firmly.

I was willing to find a solution but now I changed my mind.

"Oh yes I am," I assured. Standing up from my bed, I took steps closer to her. "Your dad said that Jeffry will pick us up tomorrow," leaned over to her eye level. "Wear something nice, princess," I tapped her chin with my finger, making her slap my hand away.

And with that, I headed towards the door. I could hear her groaning into a pillow. I loved it. I left Violet alone. She needed her time, to yell, scream, kick, curse. You know, her alone time to throw her tantrum. Either way, she needed to calm down. Unless she wanted to disturb Valerie.

**********

Violet and I were walking to the center of the school, not dressed in our uniforms. Just wearing casual clothing. Actually, I was trying to keep up with her. Still, she was not too happy with the arrangement. In her little mind, I was only going to ruin the lunch date with her parents.

Not surprising at all, Lucy and Rachel appeared, apparently to her rescue. Actually no, they didn't even know where we were going.

"Violet, where the hell are you going?" Rachel questioned and glanced at me, seeming confused to why I was there with her. "Class is about to start," she informed, as if we didn't already know that.

Before Violet could answer her, I did, "We're going on our lunch date," I technically spoke truthfully, just didn't elaborate. Throwing my arm over Violet's shoulder, I gave a cheeky smile to her friends. Shockingly, getting a laugh out of them. Not a mocking one, but a genuine one, in amusement.

"No, we're not!" roughly, Violet pushed my arm away from her. I pouted, trying to make myself appear cute.

"She's kinda cute," Rachel complimented. I smiled widely.

Violet scoffed in disbelief as her hands rested on her hips with attitude. "She's not cute in any way," she denied. "And by the way, we're not going on a date," it was important for her to clarify, apparently.

To annoy her, I commented, "Too bad because it would've probably made you even more popular if we dated-" Violet shot me a side-ways look. "Just saying," in surrender, I raised my hands up.

Actually, that would've made me more popular.

"Violet," a masculine voice was heard from a distance. All four of us turned to check. It was a man who was dress in a uniform, like a chauffeur.

"Jeffrey," Violet greeted, very happy to see him. It surprised me that she actually greeted him with a hug. Oh, so she didn't think that she was too much to talk to the help? I guess that spoke good about her.

"Violet, nice to see you!" he gave a warming smile. "Hello, girls," he greeted us too, kindly.

"Hi," we all said in unison as if rehearsed.

"Violet, are you ready?" he asked her.

"Of course," quickly, Violet linked arms with him and tried walking away as quick as possible. Trying to leave me behind of course.

He stopped, "Wait, your parents mentioned that you're taking a friend," he stated. Oh Violet! I mentally laughed. Jeffrey seemed cool. "Where's Rosemary?" he asked and glanced at us.

"I'm right here," I raised my hand a bit and walked to them.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Jeffrey," he nicely and properly introduced himself. How kind of him.

"Nice meeting you too," I shook his hand. "Thank you for coming for us," I thanked with a smile.

"Yes, thank you Jeffrey," Violet motioned for him to start walking. Jeffrey offered his arm and I accepted it. He was such a gentleman. He appeared to be in his fifties. Almost like another father to Violet. Her father actually looked younger than Jeffrey though.

At the exit, Jeffrey had to speak to Mr. Hastings. Had to show him the signed permission requests by Mr. Delaney to let us off campus. With the simple fact that Mr. Delaney was a very wealthy man, we were allowed out. Even me.

Awesome.

-

When we arrived at the restaurant, Violet was more than excited. Mainly because she found Jeffrey's and I's conversation boring on the way here. All we were talking about was on how many people wrongly invested their money on failures. Violet was careless though, she had nothing to contribute to the conversation.

Jeffrey opened the car door and helped us out of the car.

"Thank you, Jeffrey," I smiled at him. He was such a good man and very interesting. It would have been nice to have him as my grandfather. That would've been awesome.

"You're welcome, Rosemary," he replied while escorting us to the entrance of the restaurant. Still, Violet did not seem to be embarrassed walking by his side. I liked that.

From what I had seen, Jeffry was important to her.

Jeffrey dismissed himself when the host was about to help us to our table. Apparently, Violet's parents were here already and had ordered. Violet walked ahead of me. That did not surprise me at all. Either way, it did not bother me. I was not insulted in any way this time. I actually enjoyed it. I couldn't explain why but I felt honored. Weird, right? Maybe because in a way, she was giving me too much importance. She was not ignoring the fact that I was there, even though she tried making it seem like it.

When Mr. Delaney saw us, he stood up from the chair and motioned for us to sit, being gentlemanlike. Before sitting, Violet walked around the table to greet her father with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. The same with her mother. I shook their hands but both pulled me in for a kiss on the cheek.

"Awe, you took my kiss from them," Violet pouted.

Was she serious?

"Don't worry," slightly, I slid my finger on my lips and slid it on hers. "You can have it back," I grinned, playfully.

Violet faked a grin but her eyes gave her away. Either way, she was only doing it to trick her parents.

"You're so funny!" she faked a laugh and pinched my cheek, painfully.

"As you are," I mimicked her actions.

Through her grin, she muttered something but I couldn't make out what she meant.

"I see that the two of you have been getting along," Mrs. Delaney actually fell for it. We must have been great actresses.

"Of course," Violet went with it.

"Would you like to order now?" Mr. Delaney asked.

The menus were on the table. Violet pushed hers away. Apparently already knowing what she wanted. I on the other hand, did not know. This restaurant appeared to be very elegant and of high class. Honestly, I was kind of afraid to read the menu. Only because I figured that I wouldn't understand a word of it.

Opening the menu, I indeed did not know. Without taking a second look, I closed it. What was the point of looking through it if I did not understand it? Also, I was embarrassed of asking Violet's parents to translate. Violet was not an option. For sure, she was going to make fun of me for it.

The waitress reappeared.

"Ready to order?" she asked.

"I'll have the usual," Violet replied while handing her the menu. Oh so she had a usual? Why was I not surprised. The waitress then looked at me and that's when I started to feel my hands sweating. Was it just me or was the heater turned up?

"Um, I'll have...," I paused and opened the menu, pretending to still be looking. Violet and her parents stayed silent, waiting on me. That caused me to feel even more nervous. Their eyes were hard set on me. The heat was more intense. I closed the menu, "I'll have a salad," I handed her the menu. Couldn't go wrong with that.

"Which kind?" The waitress motioned for me to elaborate.

Holy shit.

"The one with lettuce," hey, I had no other answer. Violet burst out laughing, gaining a glare from her mom. Using her hand to cover her mouth, she stifled a laugh.

"Yes but which salad," the waitress insisted.

"Surprise me," this waitress needed to get off my back and just bring me a god damn salad. First of all, I didn't even want a salad. I felt like eating something more fulfilling but I couldn't understand the damn menu.

"Can you please tell me which salad," she insisted. From the corner of my eye, I could see Violet still wanting to laugh. "There's Bistro salad-" before she could list the rest of the salads, I stopped her right there.

"Yes, I'll have that one," I settled on.

"The Bistro Salad?" she wanted to confirm it. I nodded. Finally the waitress excused herself and left.

Now I was ashamed to look at Violet's parents. It was too embarrassed.

"Rosemary, how has Violet been behaving?" was the first thing that Mr. Delaney asked and seemed interested in.

I thought back at her actions. Didn't exactly help find my way around campus. Always tried avoiding me. Talked back to the teacher, who by the way quit. Joined private parties on & off campus. Drank. May I add, she was very rude to me.

"There aren't any complaints so far," I informed instead. Violet's eyebrows arched, surprised by it. When her parents looked at her, seeming pleasantly surprised, she smiled. Pretending like there was nothing to be shocked about.

"You see, I've been a perfect angel," she smiled sweetly, actually seeming completely innocent. That was quite cute actually. A smile crept to my lips. In order to hide it, I had to press them together.

The waitress came back with drinks. Without interrupting our conversation, she poured lemonade into our glasses. While Mr. Delaney drank an alcoholic drink of some sort. I wasn't going to ask though. Then, the waitress walked away.

Taking the glass, I drank from it. Ah, it was refreshing.

Hearing that made Mrs. Delaney very happy.
"That's good, Violet," she commented. "Since you've been good, we'll buy you the diamond bracelet that you wanted a few days ago," she stated, causing Violet to squeal out of excitement
.
"And we'll also buy you the diamond necklace to match with it," her dad was spoiling her.

Wow, just for behaving?

"And the earrings too?" Violet was sure taking advantage of this.

"Of course," her dad nodded.

"I love you mom and dad," Violet couldn't be happier. Even though the reasons were stupid, it sort of made me happy to see her like this. To see the pure happiness in her eyes. Not just satisfaction because of embarrassing me.

Mrs. Delaney smiled, "How's the baby assignment going?" She wondered.

"Right! Where's the little guy at?" Ah, Mr. Delaney's dad humor came out.

"It's a girl, Dad," Violet corrected. " And she's with the babysitter," she added.

By babysitter she meant a freshman girl who wanted to become her bestie. I was not happy about it because it was our assignment to do but Violet made some valid points about not being able to bring the doll.

Mrs. Delaney's fingers then made a snap, "I almost forgot," she said while looking through her Louis Vuitton purse. Violet and I waited for her to continue. "I was looking through some old photographs and found this," she pulled out what seemed to be an old picture. It was very wrinkly and fragile. Her hands held it carefully, making sure that it wouldn't fall apart. "It's the both of you holding hands in preschool," she described while holding it up for us to see.

My eyes widened as my eyebrows arched. Wow. It really was us. Oh my god, Violet was so freakin' adorable! Her blonde hair was at the same height as it was now. Past her shoulders. There was a genuine smile on her face that lit her whole expression. My eyes shifted to our hands, they definitely held onto one another, tightly. That was so cute. No wonder why I dated Violet in preschool, she was such a little cutie. Didn't even look stuck-up.

What happened to her? I asked myself.

"Mom," Violet gasped softly while taking a good look of the photograph. Being cautious with the fragile picture, Violet took it from her mother. To get a closer look. "Rosemary, you were so cute, what happened to you?" she joked.

I sighed playfully. Just so her parents wouldn't think that I was disrespectful, even though Violet started it.

"Violet, be nice," her father warned, playfully as well.

"I'm just joking," Violet snorted. Then continued looking at the photograph. I leaned over to her to look too. I felt her body heat and unexpectedly, felt my heart flutter. Violet glanced at me. Since I was feeling strange, I remained staring at the picture of us.

"We were so little," I mumbled out.

"Yeah," is all she said. She placed the photography down and took out her phone. Oh, she was taking a picture of it. "I want to show Lucy and Rachel how cute I was as I little girl," she explained to us. "Like I still am till this day and always will," she assured.

"Violet, they've already seen pictures of when you were little," her mom reminded, sounding a bit confused.

"Well another photo won't hurt," Violet's eyebrows connected, getting defensive. Then looked at me, while her parents tried getting the attention of a waitress.
