Ch 35 | Dynasty

Be fearlessly authentic... Unknown

Mirae |

He walked in, three-day stubble and a neatly pressed suit, the kind you only see on high priced lawyers and gangsters.

He took in the room with a single sweep, his green eyes settling on nothing before he left as expressionless as he entered.

Eyes the colour of deep forest pools, the colour of freshly cut grass, the colour of springtime ferns, the colour of pond scum, the colour of autumn carrot tops, the green of the first spring leaves on a plum tree, sea green, mossy green flecked with the colour of pecan shell, as green as summertime water trough.

He changed the atmosphere, an almost electric shock seeking a goodbye to the woman's heart.

I, on the other hand, stood beside him.

My head kept down, my arms on both of my sides in a professional manner.

I'm only a secretary in the eyes of these guests —these rich, celebrities, powerful business owners, doctors, lawyers.

The respect I can only ever gain is by standing beside him, a respected man.

—His company's name shining brightly above my name.

This is who I am to them.

"Jeon Jungkook's personal secretary."

Only a few steps... and the glamorous light may have blinded me. The place was astonishing, it was on the rooftop of a high glass-made skyscraper. Lights were on everywhere like fairy lights, pearly white floor even reflected our image.

The place was overly modern and exaggerated.

"Quite and only listen, Ms. Lee" he whispered lowly as a few men approached us —each held a glass of wine just as a waiter quickly passed by offering one to Jungkook.

"Sir," he said respectfully keeping his head low as Jungkook took a glass of wine —his eyes smiled a fake as he greeted the men with an innocent look but misery of boredom which he hid.

I greeted a few people standing beside Jungkook. They spoke professionally and formally.

"Oh, sir might she be your secretary?" someone asked.

Jungkook smirked hardening his beautiful emerald evil eyes at the man. He tapped his glass of wine for a few seconds before answering with an empty, overpowering tone.

"She is indeed, Mr. Lei you seem quite fond with the things around me" Jungkook raised an eyebrow.

Mr. Lei tightly smiled looking over at me.

"But sir you never needed a personal secretary?"

"How unfortunate that I need one now," he remarked with an awfully rude tone.

Mr. Lei is really known to try to get under people's skin easily. This disfigured man is really a despicable loser —as Jennie once described him.

Subsequently, over some boring time, they seemed to have quietly walked away.

So I stood there 'with no glass of anything' or maybe I could've acted like a rich daughter of someone. You know the drill when you have the power to abuse it.

Okay, I'm joking.

"Bonjour Madame, Est-ce que tu parles français?" An European man stood behind me.

He asked if I could speak French —but of course, I can, not too fluently though. I might still have a few accents here and there.

I raised an eyebrow —a little slightly seeing his motive through him. I smiled delicately replying him back.

"Peut-être oui. Mais je préfère parler coréen si cela ne vous dérange pas monsieur. Parlez-vous la langue?" Well, this is literally translated to...

Maybe yes. But I prefer to speak Korean if you do not mind sir. Do you speak the language?—

But did I say it right? Judging by the man's perplexed look, maybe he at least understood what I said.

"Yes I do speak Korean but only a little bit —are you alone here ma'am, maybe I can drop you-"

"No is fine, I can gladly show off that I have come with Mr. Jeon the late son of the previous chairman of Jeon enterprise" I smiled lifting my left hand and let the single silver ring be shown on my finger whilst I adjusted a string of hair tugging it behind my ear.

The man made an awkward face noticing a wedding ring on my left hand. Without saying anything the man politely excused himself.

"Thought you didn't speak French, kind Madame" his words batted against my flesh and sensitive skin.

My heart almost leaped out, with my shaking hands I held my chest seeing the one and only Jungkook.

Phew!  At this very moment, he looks to powerful to look at —my poor eyes may blind at any moment.

Jungkook noticed the ring on my left hand, I smiled lifting it up.

"Oh, this ring I wore it to shoo away those nosy men that run around," I said proudly with the tiny idea of mine.

"Intelligent of you, since when did you become like this —I thought you're less than what you look like"

Well, of course, Jungkook will always be a little offensive every now and then.

I hope it is a joke.

"Sir, I'm only trying my best as your personal secretary. I cannot dare to bring shame to the Jeon enterprise —the 300-year-old empire since the era of late King Zi Xuan"

"You have the knowledge and intelligence, Ms. Lee, when was all the history buried in your head?" He smirked moistening his lips.

I realized he has a habit of moistening his lips when speaking like he's a greater man. Well, he is but —well I can't say anything.

"Since the time you told me I don't know anything about history or background knowledge of the company, your family name, the ancestors, how I cannot take proper notes in meetings, present raw ideas in spot, cannot speak several languages since you said I can not–"

"Okay shut up" he responded annoyed.

After a while of standing with a few more elderly people, I and Jungkook stood freely with no one this time.

"Can we try some desserts?" I pouted whispering so no can hear it.

Jungkook turned his head towards me with a what's-wrong-with-you-look.

Wow, he has such a judgemental face.

"Are you fucking serious?"

"Don't swear Mr. Jeon, it is highly unprofessional" I scolded lightly.

He kissed his teeth making a 'tsk' sound. "Ms. Lee, your appetite is quite unprofessional too —now we don't want to gain any weight do we?"

"You-" I gritted my teeth holding a fisted hand behind my back.

I really wanna kill him now. Who said he's polite, I'm rather happy being slim. At least it meets the Korean beauty standards.

"Oh, so fat girls are your type?"

Jungkook made a weird, disgusted face then he smirked looking at me as if studying something.

"Why, are you after what types of girls I like? Are you jealous?"

"Ew, no-" I held my breath when he abruptly brought his head close to my ear.

I held my breath closing my eyes, a warm sudden explosion of tingles overheating me like an erupting volcano.

Please let's not gather an audience. A girl like me does not need a spotlight.

"Don't forget what exactly happened back at the villa, you may have it more fucking forcefully in the near future. Don't act like a queen when you know you need a fucking King" he whispered.

Acting like he's a dark phantom he played with my pearly earing as if he's admiring the jewel, he retracted with a stupid, stupid heart fluttering bad boy smirk.

My face can now be a proper definition of a beautiful, small, plum tomato with peeping smoke coming out of its small burning ears.

"Give up, cos you can't break the dynasty we made"

"Who said I want to break it, I rather let my fingers touch the beauty of the dynasty created by us —and experience the unbreakable empire."

Jungkook smiled staring at me; how I want this serene moment to last. It relaxes my heart all the times his fresh green eyes give attention to me.

Almost as if it's fated to do it.

"Jungkook!"

A quite familiar girl waved, her lips coated deep red and her eyes done extravagantly. Her gown was really big and looked as if she may have had people helping with that. She resembled a peacock princess.

Kinda like Sui He from one of my many favorite Chinese dramas.

Jungkook's eyes hardened as his face became plain. Intentionally, he put one of his hands in his pocket and the other held his glass of wine. He resembled a mafia boss right now.

I think he'll pass as a criminal like the cool, dope ones in the movies.

W-wait what am I thinking.

I should be a girl without love.

Not a girl with love.

Unless Jungkook is a Boy with Luv...

"Aish! It's been so long how have you been?" The girl laughed excitedly.

I dozed off from their conversation, it seemed like the girl is purposely leaving me out. Jungkook gritted his teeth suddenly bashing out very, and extremely rudely.

"Do you have anything else to say?"

Talk about anger. He really needs to control that.

"N-no, I just wanted to greet you" she forced laugh suddenly looking at me. Her features are too familiar.

Wow, she just decided to give me a little attention except she widened her eyes. She made a face as if she does not want to believe something.

 "Mirae-ah?" she gasped shocked.

She knows my name!

Huh? I hope I am not convicted of some kind of murder.

"Y-yes Ms?" I said slowly intending to know her last name.

"Forget it, my job is done here. We're leaving" Jungkook said impatiently.

I held Jungkook's handshaking my head at his glare.

Her eyes traveled down to my hands holding his hand, awkwardly, I retreated my hands.

"W-what —why is she back?" she mumbled so lowly, I could barely hear anything.

I looked at Jungkook seeing the woman's shocked face, discreetly, she slowly twerked a smile. I can't tell if it is genuine or a show.

"Ko Min Suha?" I mumbled lowly.

No way, what a stupid nightmare. I always disliked her —Jungkook's cousin. Last time I've seen her she embarrassed me badly.

"Hi! It's been a long time —you look a lot different" she said traveling her eyes down at my dress and the jewels worn.

'How did she afford the ancient Red Dragon's red pearl earrings?' Min Suha thought.

I noticed her eyes staring at my hair I think.

"Jungkook-ah is she your new personal secretary?" she asked so innocently.

Jungkook raised an eyebrow snickering arrogantly. His green eyes leveled down at her small height.

'You fucking nosy pig' he thought.

"No, my wife"
