TAE's PoV

Hours passed, I kept looking through the window checking to see if she was coming. Time seemed to move very slowly. The house was very quiet and dull like it was before, it made me lifeless.

"Not here yet".
I sighed and sat down flicking the pages of a book I wasn't really reading. Fear of not being able to hear her laughter and screams made me anxious and restless.

"TaeTae!"
Her excited squeal echoed through the entrance hall making me jump off the sofa in joy.
Within seconds, I flew down the stairs.
"Hey!"
I smiled with relief after seeing her there with an adorable grin.
After all, she was the best birthday present I ever had and ever wanted.

"Come on!"
She grabbed my wrist and ran towards the back door leading out to the garden.

Months flew by. Y/n would come early in the morning with her mum. I would patiently wait by the window until her face appears and run out to greet her. After sometime, when her mum finished work, she would leave to go to school with her and come back in the evening.
Her mother worked in the early morning hours and in the evenings in our mansion kitchen. In the evenings, Y/n would stay with me until dinner time while her mother finished work in the kitchen.

I never liked my bedtime. It was the time she kissed me good night and left with her mum and I knew I had to wait until next morning to see her again.

"Speak to the moon. I'll be listening! Night night!"
She would yell every time her mother carried her out of the room. I never really understood it. I would agree by nodding with a smile. Sometimes, I would look out of the window and gaze at the moon wondering if it was actually true.
"Can you really hear me talk? If you can, please tell her I will be waiting to see her tomorrow."
I would quietly mumble before heading back to bed.

During the weekends, we would play all day. She'd tell stories of fairies and angels as we roamed the garden. Under the warm spring sun, we would chase butterflies, search for dandelions to blow in the wind and pretend to fly with the birds.

Every time she sees a wild fruit, she'd pick it and ask
"Taetae, Can I eat this?"
"No!"
I would gently slap her hand and warn her.

Whether it was a day of bright sun or summer rain, it didn't matter. We played through it all. I thought even sitting down to have my meals was a waste of time.

She never spoke about her father and always talked about her grandmother and all the fairytales and stories of angels she had told her. It seemed her mum and grandmother were her only world and now I had the privilege too. Some nights her mum will have to do extra work and finish late and y/n will stay with me in the study room reading her favourite stories, it was mostly fairytales. She liked the princes and the princesses and the happily ever afters.

I would sit and listen patiently. She would read her favourite stories repeatedly, I didn't mind. I was just mesmerised by the excitement on her face and the way she marvelled like it was the first time she was reading them.

I was happy to be with her, while deep inside dreading the moment her mother would appear and carry her away after apologetically wishing me goodnight.
I didn't like the loneliness that followed her departure, it made me miserable and the silence was unbearable.

"Why couldn't she be here with me? All the time?"
I would wonder while falling asleep listening to my own breath, feeling abandoned.

I was too young to know my feelings, but what I knew was I wanted to be with her every single minute of the day. Loved, cherished and cared. Just play and grow together discovering the wonderful world around us.
Sometimes I would rest my head on her shoulder listening to her voice as she read to me. She would gently pat my cheeks to sleep.

One particular summer night I remember well. It was lit so bright by the full silver moon and the stars. We had lost track of time and had been playing out since dusk.
Y/n suddenly got distracted from collecting daisies and gasped.

"TAE! Look!...it's so pretty", she said pointing at the moon.
"I know.", mumbled looking at her.
"You know grandma told me the moon is special."
"Really? How?", I questioned her, a little uninterested.

"Uhm...she said if you want to talk to someone who's not with you then you can talk to the moon. Then they will be able to hear it because they will be able to see the moon too."
She said while carefully gathering the flowers in her hard.
"So...so, the moon is your special friend in the sky. That means you can speak to your mummy and she will hear it just like I speak to my daddy."
She added as her eyes sparkled in the silver moonlight.

"y/n...where's your dad?"
I questioned with curiosity.
"Erm...I'm not sure. Mummy said he's gone.
I don't know where."
She slowly shrugged.
The sparkle in her eyes slowly dulled.
"where's your mummy?"
"She died when I was two years old".
I replied.
"oh!"
Her lips drooped with sympathy, But quickly they widened with a smile as she looked up at me again.

"You know that means she's a star in the sky and she might be looking at you."
She pointed to the sky.
"Is this something your grandma told you as well?"
I snickered quietly at her attempt to comfort me.
She nodded with an adorable grin.
"It's getting a bit cold now, let's go inside. I've something to show you."
"what is it?"
She asked excitedly as I grabbed her wrist and walked inside.

Opening one of the draw of the chest of drawers in my room, I took out a small box.
"Open it" I said handing her the ivory velvet gift box.
"Wow! It's pretty! Is it yours?"
She squealed in surprise.
"No, it's for you. I already got mine" I said revealing the other part of the necklace with her name on it that occupied my neck.
"This one is for you. It has my name on it. See."
I showed the front if the half broken heart pendant attached to it.
"Oh! It has!."
She squeezed her cheeks all marveled.
"You know there's something special about this necklace? If you put yours and mine together it makes a heart. It means I'm always with and you are always with me."
I held it together showing her. She squealed gleefully as if I performed some sort of magic.
"Thank you." She said standing on her toes and wrapping her arms around me.
"Will you promise me something?" I asked as I hugged her gently.
"hmm?" She released her arms and looked at me puzzled.
"Promise me, you will always be with me, here."
"Promise" she stated without hesitation locking her pinky finger around mine.
"What if you are not here?"
I anxiously questioned. Strangely I always had that stomach churning fear of not seeing her one day.
"I'll come and find you...or you can find me."
She shrugged like it's nothing.
"Really?"
I smiled gladly.
"Yes. Pinky promise" she declared holding up the small bunch of daisies in her other hand closer to my face.
I smiled with relief after taking them from her.

The bright rays of morning sun pierced into the bedroom through the white tulle curtains, making me scrunch my sleepy eyes. I could hear a Man's muffled voice passing orders very seriously. I instantly recognised it.

"Dad!", I leaped out of the bed and ran down the stairs. Yes, my father was here. It was very difficult to see him often with his busy schedule but when he was here he usually spends every second of the day with me.

"Dad..." I screamed in happiness as I threw myself into his arms.
"Taehyung! Oh my boy! Come here" he said with joy as he picked me up.

After a minute of tight embrace he spoke with a concerned voice.
"Taehyung, Grandpa has passed away, we need to leave immediately for our home town to arrange the funeral and other formalities".
A deep sigh followed after the news.
I held him tight for few moments before releasing myself from him with tears in my eyes. He pulled me into his arms again to comfort me.

My grandfather worked very hard throughout his life to earn all the wealth and recognition our family now possesses. After his retirement, my father took over the control of the companies to carry on with his legacy. Grandpa wanted to live in his hometown where he started off his journey as a young man with my Grandmother. Although, my father wanted him to live with us, he didn't stop him. We visited often, but as my father started to expand the business, his busy life made it difficult for us to see him very often.

"Is y/n here yet?" I questioned with anticipation as the maid was adjusting my black velvet bow tie, getting me ready for our sad journey.

"No young master, her mother is starting work little bit late today. So she will be here in about 30 minutes time." She answered as she opened the door of my shoe display cupboard.

"Please choose the one you like young master"
Waving her hands at the long racks she requested with a courteous smile. I pointed to my favourite pair dark brown leather shoes with one hand as I hugged Toto against my chest with the other.

"Are you ready my boy? We need to leave soon" My father asked as he walked into the room.

"Dad can we wait for few more minutes please, I want to say goodbye to my friend."
I asked with pleading eyes.
"Taehyung we are late already" he said with little frustration.
"Please dad..." I begged.
"Ok." He agreed after a sigh.

"Tae Tae"

As soon as I heard my little fairy's voice, I ran past dad and down the stairs at lightning speed.

"Y/n!" I hugged her tightly.

"Are you going somewhere?" She enquired after seeing me in my suit. Her eyes sad and curious at the same time.

"Yes, I have to go and say goodbye to my grandpa and I will be back soon ok" I reassured while wondering how I was going to cope with this separation.

"Ok... when are you coming back?" She asked with anticipation.

"I'll be back as soon as I can, will you wait for me?"
"Yes." She exclaimed cupping my cheeks and greeting me with her enchanting smile.

Losing my grandpa has thrown me into enough grief. But now the anxiety of how I will get through the days without seeing her was squeezing my heart.

I took her hands from my cheeks and embraced them between mine.

"Now, It's your birthday next month right, tell me what you want and I will bring it for you when I come back"
I forced a smile through the anxiety.

"Hah! Really?! Hmmm...yes! Let me show you".
Remembering something, she pulled me with both her hands leading me to the reading room.

Climbing onto the mini book shelf ladder she started to scan through the neatly aligned books.

"Y/n Be careful" I warned her holding her arm as she got off the ladder.

She quickly sat down on the carpet and started flicking through the pages hurriedly. I sat on my knees watching her enthusiasm with a smile.

"There it is!"
She looked at me pointing her index finger on the page. I moved myself to align with her so I could see it at the right angle. She was pointing to the partly bloomed red rose encased within a glass orb surrounded by dust of sparkling snow. The rose orb the beast keeps hidden in a room from the fairytale "Beauty and the Beast".

I gently laughed at her and covered her hands that were on the page with mine.

"You want that?"
I asked.

"Yes!, It's so pretty" she squeaked shrinking her eyes at me.

"Ok, I'll bring it for you, wait for me ok?"
I said again.

"Mmm hmm" she nodded looking at me and locked her pinky finger with mine again to reassure me.

"What if you are not here?" I questioned her as my anxiety of leaving her took over.

"Hmmm...Then, you can come and find me or I'll find you. I'll be with you again. I promise."

I gave her a somber smile and hugged her tightly.
"I will miss you y/n, I see you soon ok."
I sighed releasing her reluctantly.

"Ok, I will miss you too...TaeTae" she mumbled curving her lips down and drooping her eyes like a sad puppy as she sat back with the book.

"Taehyung we need to get going now, please"
My father called from the living room.

"Coming dad."
I shouted back.

"Bye."
I softly pecked her round cheek and rushed towards the door. I glanced at her once more before running towards the car as she sat with the book on her lap
