Kelly...

It had been almost two weeks since I was almost strangled to death. How did they break into my house? I had no idea. I was still feeling afraid and paranoid. There was this feeling hanging over my head that someone was watching me. The police said that they hadn't found any suspect so far but they were still investigating. Even though Tori was against me telling Marco about what had happened, I still tried calling him but his phone went unanswered.

I moved out of the house that Marco had bought for me and rented a small one-bedroom apartment that was two hours away from campus. I hadn't been back at the house since the attack. I thought about selling it but Tori said that she wouldn't sell it if it was her house. I didn't tell Loren what had happened to me. Honestly, I just wanted to forget it and maybe act as if it never happened but I couldn't. I even had nightmares about it.

Things have been really hard for me. Sometimes I feel like just calling Marco and telling him that I wanted to come back and live over at his place but my pride wouldn't allow me to. Today I went to visit my dad's and my aunt's grave. Not a day goes by that I didn't think about them.

Marco was still paying for my tuition fee. He did say that he would continue to do it even though we were no longer together and he kept his word. At one point, I wanted to stop taking his bloody money, but it was easier said than done.

"Kelly, I'm going to use the lady's room! I'll be back before you know it!" Tory yelled to me across from the table where we were sitting.

"Oh, sure," I said to her.

We were at one of the strip clubs out of town. Tonight was a Saturday night and I just wanted to get out of the damn apartment and drink my sorrows away.

I got up from the chair and walked over to the bar to get another martini. I needed to stop drinking because I was feeling a bit dizzy. I ordered the martini from the bartender who wouldn't stop flirting with me. He was definitely not my type. The dude was short and had green eyes. I wasn't attracted to short men or any man who was in my age group. He looked to be around my age.

Before I could take out the money from my purse to pay for it, I heard a deep masculine voice from behind me say, "That's on me."

A voice that I knew all too well.

I turned around and looked up into the face of the stranger that I kept bumping into at the hospital when I was doing my internship there. He wore a black tailored suit which showed how muscular he was. He had a smirk on his face as he stared back at me.

"It's fine. You don't have to pay for my drink. I can pay for my drink myself." I said, still staring into his dark brown eyes.

He didn't respond to me. Instead, he paid for the martini.

"I want to do more than just pay for your cocktail, pretty woman." He said with a devilish grin on his face.

"I can take care of myself," I told him, politely.

He nodded. "Of course, I know that you can. We haven't officially met. I'm Edward Armstrong." He said in a deep tone as he held out his hand for a handshake.

"Kelly Joseph." I shook his hand.

"It's nice seeing you again, Kelly." He said, coming closer to me.

I stepped back a bit.

"It's nice seeing you again too. What's your relationship with Mildred?" I questioned again.

He nervously touched his beard. "She's a family friend. Why did you ask?"

He raised his eyebrows at me and that was so familiar.

"No reason in particular," I replied, nonchalantly.

He had a very calm demeanor as we held eye contact with each other.

I needed to get back to the table. Tori must be wondering where I was.

"Edward, it was a pleasure chatting with you but I need to get back to my friend. Thanks for the mart-." Before I could finish, I heard a loud explosion as gunshots blasted throughout the strip club.

The place was chaos as everyone ran for cover. The glass of martini fell from my hands and landed on the floor as I tried to run for cover.

Oh, my god. Where the heck was Tori? I hope that she wasn't hurt.

"Come with me, Kelly!" I heard Edward yell at me as he grabbed my arm.

"No, I have to find my friend!" I yelled back at him.

He drew his gun and fired back at the men who were all wearing black suits. They fired back at him as screams filled the air and people trampled on each other to get out of what now looked like a blood bath.

I tried to get out of his hold but I couldn't. He roughly held my arm and led me through the door at the side.

The suited men continued to fire at us as we exited through the side door. This was a nightmare that I wanted to wake up from but I couldn't because it was not a dream.
