If you haven't watched episode 9 of season 2 I INSIST you on watching it (I cried and screamed the whole time) If you want to wait till March 30th for the first 13 episodes to release on Netflix, then I guess you shouldn't read this one shot if you don't wanna see spoilers. :) Anyway, let's get on with it.

Marinette glumly opened the skylight and walked to the railing of her balcony. She sighed, wishing she could have shared one of André's "matchmaking ice creams" with Adrien earlier that day.

As she was sulking in her thoughts, there was a soft, kind voice behind her.

"Hello," the friendly voice spoke.

Marinette quickly turned around to see whom the voice belonged to.

And to her surprise, it was her one and only partner, Chat Noir.

"Chat Noir?"

He jumped down to perch on the railing. "Sorry," he began apologetically. "I didn't mean to frighten you."

"He sounds a bit sad and... hurt," Mari thought to herself.

She dismissed the thought, and asked, "What are you doing here? Don't you have like superhero-y things to do?"

"No, I don't feel like being a superhero tonight."

Marinette knew something was wrong. But before she could say anything, he spoke again.

"And I also don't feel like... being alone tonight. Would you mind if I hung out here for a little while?"

She nodded, and she couldn't help but giggle a little bit.

He climbed a bit closer, moving into a sitting position. "Marinette, right? We've bumped into each other before."

"Yeah, a bunch of times. I mean- yes, we have. One time a supervillian fell in love with me... talk about bad luck," she said, trying not to give him any ideas about her being Ladybug.

"Seriously, I seem to be having some bad luck in the love department myself," Chat Noir said, still sounding glum. He looked off into the city, thinking about something.

Marinette was a bit shocked. The flirtatious Chat Noir, having trouble in the love department? Who would've known?

"Really? What kind?"

"Well... tonight I had this special surprise all planned for Ladybug," He said, continuing to look to the city of love.

Marinette tensed when realization hit her. "You're in love with Ladybug?"

She then whispered to herself so he couldn't hear, "For real...?"

"All those flirty attempts... He was sincere? I thought he was just teasing or he just always flirted with every girl he seen. This is odd... I've never seen this side of Chat Noir..."

She snapped out of her train of thought. He was still looking towards the city, silent.

She walked closer the the railing where he was sitting. She leaned forward against it, not saying anything. Chat Noir and Marinette looked at each other, and then looked back to the lovely city of Paris.

She was starting to get uncomfortable with the silence, so she asked, " So... what was this special surprise?"

He sighed sadly, "It doesn't really matter... 'cause she never showed."

She looked down. "Sounds like both of us need a little cheering up tonight."

Chat looked over to her and asked, "You... You've gotten your heart broken, too?"

"Yep," she replied sadly.

He was a little stunned to hear the she too had gotten her heart broken. He had to admit, she was absolutely beautiful, kind, optimistic, clever, and just a wonderful person in general. Who would be stupid enough to break her heart?

Suddenly, he got an idea. He grinned at her. He hopped down from the railing, and held out his hand.

"Hey, come with me," he offered with a sweet smile.

She looked at him with wide eyes. She looked at his hand, to his face again, and smiled, accepting the offer.

He then gently picked her up bridal style. He looked into her eyes, happiness shining in them.

"Close your eyes and hold on tight, okay?"

She wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes. She couldn't help but smile at the comfort and warmth she felt when she was in his arms.

Chat Noir then jumped of her balcony and onto a nearby rooftop. He set her down saying, "Just give me a minute."

Marinette still had her eyes closed. She was excited to see what his surprise was, but she still felt guilty about not seeing it as Ladybug, who Chat had intended it for.

It wasn't long before he said, "Alright, you can open your eyes now."

When she did, she was absolutely amazed.

He had candles all around the balcony, dimly lighting up the place. There was even beautiful, red roses with the candles, making the scene more romantic. The roses were so red that they matched her Ladybug suit...

Marinette exclaimed as she looked around, "Wow, Chat Noir, this is beautiful!"

But as she looked around, she saw the Chat was leaning on the balcony railing, dejected.

Her smile dropped to a frown of worry and guilt.

"I'm so sorry," she said.

"Why? It's not your fault," he replied.

"Yeah- I mean, uh, what I mean is, I'm sorry for you, as you prepared all this for her, and she didn't show."

Now the guilt was really starting to hurt. She walked over, leaned back against the railing next to him.

Neither of them spoke for while.

Chat suddenly asked, "Who broke your heart?"

She looked at him, not wanting to answer. But, as she thought to herself, she figured there was no harm in telling him.

She sighed. "Well, it was a friend of mine, who just happens to be my crush. My friends, Alya and Nino, were going to André's to get some ice cream. When we got there, everyone was sharing ice creams with their lover, but me... Well, let's just say, my crush never showed up," she explained.

Chat thought for a minute.

"I was going to go with Alya, Nino, and Marinette to André's today... wait a minute..."

Realization hit him in the back of the head. He was shocked a bit, why would Marinette love someone like him? (Well, his civilian side anyway). He always thought she was intimidated or even frightened of him.  She always stuttered like crazy and sometimes ran away when he was around.

"Chat? You okay?"

He snapped out of his thoughts and looked back at her.

"Y-yeah. I was just... thinking."

She half smiled and changed the subject by saying, "Anyway, let's talk about this surprise you prepared for Ladybug. It's absolutely gorgeous!"

He scratched the back of his neck and gave a short, flustered laugh.

"How long did it take you?"

"A while. I had to make everything perfect for Ladybug-" he stopped talking mid-sentence and his eyes drifted away. The mentioning of her name made his heart hurt, and deep down, he felt a tiny spark of anger.

Marinette realized her mistake, instantly feeling guilty again.

"I'm sorry, Chat Noir." She began. "If you need a friend to talk to, I'm always here. I know, it's none of my business to know about your love life, but if you need to talk-"

Suddenly, she was engulfed in a hug. She tensed up for a second due to shock, but then happily returned the hug.

They stayed like that for a while, enjoying each other's embrace.

Soon afterward, Chat began to cry. Marinette petted his head gently. Not long after, she began to cry as well.

They both cried softly and quietly in each other's arms for who knows how long.

Chat finally pulled away, his face a bit tear stained. Yet... he was smiling.

"I should take you back to your balcony," he suggested.

She nodded with a gentle grin.

He picked her up bridal style and jumped across a few rooftops, and set her down on her balcony.

Chat stepped closer to her, mere inches away from her face. He handed her a rose, no doubt one from the other balcony.

"Marinette, you're such a kind, gold hearted person. I'm glad you're my friend," he said with a soft smile.

But then he did something unexpected.

Chat Noir kissed her on the cheek.

"Keep the rose. It's beautiful, just like you."

Then he jumped away into the night, leaving a blushing, flustered Marinette behind.

"That cat really is something..."

Well, there's some Marichat that I've been working for a few days. Hope you enjoyed it! Also, do you think I should stop the book here or keep going?
