~Quick side note, I made this to be sort of a part two to 'Gosh, Diana.' Enjoy!~

~February 28, 1984~ Encino House

"This is going to be crazy," I breathed out, setting my face in my hands.

Tonight was the Grammy Awards and I was up for three nominations tonight. Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Performance-Female, and Best R&B Vocal Performance-Female. When I had heard about my nominations I couldn't make the anxious feeling in my chest go away. It only grew as I awaited this night.

Ever since my performance on the Triumph Tour three years ago, not only had Michael and I gotten together but my career had begun to take off. My label hadn't told me how well my sales were doing that night but a week later thousands of copies had been sold all over the world.

So tonight was a huge night for me but an even bigger night for Michael. After Michael released his Thriller short film his sales went through the roof, millions of copies being sold in only a few weeks after it's release, leading him to have 12 nominations at the Grammys. Everyone was so immensely proud of him except Jermaine, who the whole time Michael's album was being produced, thought it wouldn't go anywhere.

"You know it kid," Hazel Gordy, Jermaine's wife told me as she held a dress out in front of her.

"What do you think of this one?" She asked me as she held up a purple gown she had with her. I groaned and rubbed my eyes tiredly.

"It's great, for the tenth time, it's great," I laughed out in disbelief. She sucked in her teeth and shook her head at the dress.

"You said that about the last one," She said as she moved to place the dress back on a hanger. I laid back onto the bed in the Encino house's guest bedroom as we picked out our outfits for the night.

I had already decided mine a while back. It was a white gown that dipped at my cleavage and had a ribbon around my waist. Latoya had gotten made for me so she added a bit of her flair, making it sparkle against light.

I watched as Hazel went back to the closet, staring at it as she rubbed her chin in thought.

"We're so going to be late," I singsonged to her as she sifted through the closet. She turned her head and scrunched her eyebrows together.

"Fashionably late, Y/N, Fashionably," She spoke to me intensely before she turned around and dug back into the clothes.

I sat up from my lying position and rested my hands on my knees.

"Ain't gonna matter how fashionably late we are if the shows over when we get there," I grumbled under my breath as I rested one hand on my forehead.

"This is it!" Hazel cried out in excitement as she turned to face me. I looked up with bored eyes as she raised a blue dress into the air.

My eyes widened and I smiled genuinely as I looked to her. The dress had a metallic look to it with large bows on either shoulder.

"That's going to look gorgeous," I told her truthfully. She gave me a toothy smile as she looked into the mirror beside her, pressing the dress against her. She moved to look at both sides of her and soon a look of concern spread across her features.

"Are you sure, cause maybe that...," She started but I shot up from the bed and grabbed her arm.

"Nope, nope, it's perfect," I reiterated over and over again as I pushed her into the bathroom. "Now get dressed cause we're leaving in a half hour." I commanded.

I saw a look of protest cross her but I shut the door before she could speak again. I sighed and leaned against the door. Finally.

I got up and moved to where my own dress was lying on the bed in it's protective cover. I picked it up and walked out of the room towards the bathroom across the hall that contained my makeup. I shuffled in and shut the door behind me.

I hung the dress onto the hook on the bathroom door and slowly unzipped the bag. The dress came into sight and I felt a tug at my lips as I observed the beautiful dress in front of me.

"Damn, Latoya did a good job," I quietly spoke in pride.

I soon changed out of my clothes and pulled the dress of it's hanger. I quickly got into the dress. I washed my face and applied a light layer of foundation, following with mascara and red lipstick. I curled my hair and looked into the mirror.

I nodded to myself as I pushed a piece of hair back over my shoulder and turned around. I picked my heels up from the floor and slowly slid them on. I picked my discarded clothes off the floor and proceeded to walk out of the bathroom. I walked over to the bedroom and tossed them into my bag. I looked towards the bedroom bathroom and saw the door was still closed.

I sighed and decided to go downstairs and check on the rest of the family. I walked to the stairs and carefully lifted my dress as I descended the staircase.

When I reached the bottom I released a relieved breath.

"Thank you lord," I breathed out with a small laugh. I looked over to the living room and spotted Katherine and Joseph talking with Janet and Jermaine. I barely skimmed over them as I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. But soon a smile spread on my face as I spotted Michael.

He was standing near the window. I could practically see the symphony playing in his head as he bobbed his head lightly and he tapped his foot.

I took a chance to look him over. He wore a bejeweled blue blazer with a gold sash crossing over him, a white shirt visible underneath. He also had golden shoulder pads with fringe attached to it.

I took a step towards him and my heel clicked across the floor. His head turned towards me and his eyes widened. He stared at me and his brown eyes twinkled. I giggled at his reaction and soon my laughter broke him from his trance. A blush formed on his already rosy cheeks as he began to walk towards me.

"Damn girl!" Jermaine called out as I felt his hand grab mine and spun me around. He extended his arm as I turned out.

I gasped in shock but soon laughed at his playfulness. I looked towards Jermaine and saw he was wearing a black suit with a white dress shirt that stuck out slightly in front of him as it was tucked in between the lapels.

"Don't look too bad yourself Jermaine," I laughed out as I slapped his chest.

He winked towards me and I blew him a kiss jokingly. I felt comfortable doing this because Jermaine and I saw each other as brother and sister. I turned towards Michael, partially hoping he didn't care, but another part of me hoping he felt a bit jealous.

What? I'm not the only one.

I saw that Michael was speaking to his parents, seemingly unaffected by Jermaine and I's teasing. A small frown fell upon my lips and I scratched the back of my neck awkwardly. Michael and I had grown apart a bit since our time together in 1981 on the Triumph Tour. I knew we would be around each other less as he was in the studio and I was as well. With all the work he was doing on Thriller I barely got a chance to talk to him most of the time. Phone calls becoming less and less frequent. He would go to award shows without me because we hadn't talked about it. Although, when we saw each other it felt like nothing had changed.

But it had.

I didn't want to interrupt them so I waited for Michael to realize I was still standing a few feet beside him, but as time went by I felt disappointment grow within me.

"This boy is oblivious isn't he," Jermaine whispered in my each. I jumped at the sound and spun around.

"You gotta stop scaring me like that," I laughed out. Jermaine shrugged with a silly look on his face. I shook my head at his playfulness.

Him and Michael have a lot more in common then they think.

I peered over to Michael as he intently listened to his father as he spoke. He ran his finger over his chin and his eyes were furrowed slightly in concentration. He's so cute.

"But you're right," I sighed out with a sad smile. I felt Jermaine pat my shoulder.

"Hang in there kid, one day," He joked. I rolled my eyes and shoved him lightly. I stuck my tongue out at him and he laughed at my childishness.

"Hey Mike!" Jermaine called as he wrapped and arm around my shoulder. "Forgetting something?"

Jermaine pointed down at me with his freehand and gave me a toothy grin. I glared at him and mouthed 'I'm going to kill you' before directing my attention towards Michael. Michael, his parents, and Janet all stared at me.

I blushed and rubbed my temple in embarrassment. I heard Jermaine laugh from beside me.

Soon enough I felt a soft hand wrap around mine and pull it away from my face. I looked up to see Michael looking down at me with a smile on his face.

Jermaine unwrapped his arm from mine and I saw him walk behind Michael and mouth 'you're welcome' to me, with a small bow. I shook my head and looked down with a smile on my face.

"You look beautiful baby," Michael's soft voice spoke. I looked up to see him with a content smile on his face as his eyes scanned over my dress. I felt my body heat up as he bit his lip, soon playing with the fabric of my dress in his hand.

His hand soon moved to wrap around me, pulling me closer to him by the small of my back.

"Absolutely stunning," He spoke as he left small kisses all over my face. I giggled as his lips traveled over me.

"Why thank you," I spoke poshly with a silly face. I saw Michael's nose scrunch as he laughed and I placed quick peck onto his cheek.

"You look very handsome," I told him with a grin on my face as moved my hands to tug at his lapels. He blushed and bit his lip as he looked down at me.

"Not too much?" He shyly asked as we pulled back from each other and I got another glance at his outfit. I shook my head and moved my hands to rest on his cheeks. He gave me a small pout and I bit my lip as a wide smile spread on my lips.

"It looks perfect," I told him sweetly before I pressed my lips against his. I felt him smile into the kiss and he quickly moved his arms wound around my waist.

"C'mon Michael, Y/N, we gotta get going," Joseph called out from behind us. Michael and I pulled away from our embrace with smiles on our faces.

Michael pulled his aviator sunglasses from out of his pocket and put them over his eyes before encasing my hand into his large hand. We looked towards the family and I spotted Janet, she wore a red blazer with black dress pants and a sparkly white bow to match.

"Yeah and we don't need to see all...that," Janet spoke as she motioned her hand between us with a funny look on her face. Michael laughed.

"You'll get it when you're older Dunk," Michael joked as he messed his hand in her hair. Janet swatted his hand away and scowled at him as we began to walk past her towards the front door.

"I'm seventeen," I heard Janet mumble under her breath with a pout. I gave her a sympathetic look and we both soon laughed at each others reactions.

Michael and I approached the front door where Katherine stood in a white dress that was embellished with green flowers over it with a pair of hoop earrings, while Joseph wore a dark grey suit with a black bowtie.

"You look gorgeous Y/N," Katherine told me. I gave her a shy smile.

"Thank you, you do as well Kathy," I spoke sweetly and she smiled up at me. I averted my eyes from her and looked towards Joseph who took a step forward with a large smile on his face as he slapped a hand onto Michael's shoulder.

"Twelve nominations tonight boy, whoo!" He spoke with pride in his voice. Michael gave a small smile as Joseph shook him lightly in excitement.

"Twelve he probably ain't gonna win," I heard a voice speak in agitation from behind me. I turned my head with a pursed lips in anger and spotted Jermaine. He held a similar look on his face as he rolled his eyes.

I knew Jermaine didn't believe Michael would win anything. Whether it be because he truly thought that or because he wanted to believe it. Whether it was because he was jealous or doubtful, I'm not sure. No one is. But one thing I did know was that it hurt Michael very much. All he wanted was to show Jermaine tonight that he deserved every nomination, and hopefully win, that he got.

I looked towards Michael and saw the straight look on his face. But from right behind in aviators I saw the sadness reaching him. I squeezed his hand and he squeezed back as his eyes looked down towards our encased grasp.

"Let's get going, Jermaine you comin'?" Joseph asked Jermaine as he finally had spotted him. He removed his hand from Michael's shoulder and moved towards the door.

I looked back to see Jermaine shake his head and point him thumb behind him. A look of frustration was on his face.

"No, I gotta wait for Hazel," He called out with a huff. Joseph simply nodded and opened the door, leading Katherine out towards the car waiting for them. Jermaine turned around and walked up the stairs.

I felt Michael's hand release from mine and I watched as he pulled his bejeweled white glove out of his pocket and slipped it on. He was silent and I could feel my heart ache as I sensed his pain from Jermaine's comment.

He slowly took my hand back into his and we walked out the doors to our own white car that we would be going in. I noticed Joseph and Katherine had already left as Michael released our hands and pulled open the car door for me.

I said a quick 'thank you' and climbed into the car, him coming up close behind. We sat down in the spacious car and I heard Michael's discontent sigh. My chest tightened and I furrowed my eyebrows in sadness at his stress.

I took his gloved hand into mine and and squeezed tightly, placing my other hand over both of ours. He turned his head and looked over to me with a sad smile.

"Don't worry about him," I told him strongly. "This night is for you, don't let him ruin it, ok?" I commanded. He looked to me and nodded as he pushed a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"And I'll be here by your side no matter what happens," I cooed. "I love you." I told him truthfully with a smile on my face.

A large smile spread across his face at my words and he pulled me across the seat and to him wrapping me in a tight hug.

"I love you too," He breathed out into my hair as he kissed my head. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his torso as the car began to move.

And we drove off.

~February 28, 1984~ 26th Annual Grammy Awards

We arrived at the venue in what seemed like an agonizingly long time as anxiousness crawled in me. I peered out the window and saw reporters swarming the entrance we were going through to get into the venue. My heart began to pound. The car stopped and I sat there for a moment, unable to move.

"It's going to be ok, I'm right here with you," Michael soothingly told me as he squeezed my hand. I looked towards him and although I couldn't see his eyes I felt my body relax and I looked to him. I nodded.

"Thank you," I sighed out nervously, a stressed smile forming on my face.

Michael gave me one last smile before he moved to open the car door. He exited and I grabbed the fabric of my dress as I slid over my seat to exit as well. I looked up to see Michael's outstretched hand and I quickly grasped it before stepping out.

When I stood up I was immediately blinded by flashing lights in front of us. A camera was pushed into my view as tons of reporters called out our names as we began to walk towards the other cars that had arrived. I held tightly onto Michael's hand as Emmanuel Lewis came into sight. He wore a black tux with a golden bowtie and cummerbund.

He was being carried by a man and waved towards us as we came into his sight. Michael smiled as we reached him and kissed him on the cheek. I smiled towards him and we all began to be ushered towards the entrance doors.

"Lookin' spiffy Mike," Emmanuel spoke in a sweet voice. Michael gave him a small smile. "But I'm lookin' way cooler, right Y/N?" Emmanuel joked with a wink.

I gave the young child a silly smile. But I saw Michael wasn't really paying attention as he still seemed preoccupied with his worries about his nominations tonight. I frowned slightly but shook it off as I looked towards an expectant Emmanuel.

"You sure do Emmanuel," I laughed out with a smile. Emmanuel tugged on his bowtie with his chest puffed out and I couldn't help but laugh.

I shook my head with a smile plastered on my face as we reached the doors to the building. Security guards stood at the doors, opening them as we neared.

"Michael, Michael! Y/N!" Reporters called from behind us as we entered. I felt the urge to cover my ears in embarrassment at the loud calls, but refrained. Seemingly everyone in the hallway was unaffected by the sound and continued to focus on our movements.

"You ok?" Michael's soft voice whispered in my ear. I released the breath I didn't realize I was holding and nodded towards him.

"I don't think I'll ever get used to it," I breathed out with a small laugh as I shook my head. Michael squeezed my hand, gaining my attention.

"I know, but I'll be here by your side," He spoke as he leaned over to kiss my cheek. "Always." he finished.

I was blushing furiously as I looked up to him, even with his aviators covering his eyes, I could see the sincerity on his features. I gave him a quick, but meaningful, kiss.

"Hey! Save that stuff for later," Emmanuel called from behind us with his nose scrunched. Michael and I pulled away, blushes on both of our faces.

I rolled my eyes playfully and we soon all began to be led towards a large room.

Tons of people filled the room and I felt my heart rate begin to increase as I soon realized that tons of artists that I had looked up to were standing around conversing so casually. Emmanuel immediately found someone to talk to and I smiled as he joked with a few of the adults.

"Michael!" A feminine voice called. Michael released his hand from mine and I saw him walk over to hug a woman.

I raised an eyebrow but soon smiled as Gladys Knight come into view. She and Diana Ross were the ones responsible for launching the Jackson 5.

I saw Michael begin to delve into conversation with her I nervously stood off to the side. I didn't mind being alone but I felt so small in the room full of so many great artists. Throughout the time I saw Michael talking to people like James Brown, thanking him and patting him on the chest.

I smiled and decided to look around for someone I might recognize. My eyes scanned the room over and over before they stopped dead in their tracks.

I sucked in a sharp breath.

Brooke Shields walked into the room in a off the shoulder white dress that had a black accent on the side. Her hair was down but definitely puffed up with hairspray. She looked beautiful.

My heart began to pound nervously.

Michael had met Brooke back in March of 1981 at the Academy Awards. With Diana's plot to get us together she always brushed off their meeting, saying, 'he just thought she was a sweet girl.' But a part of me always felt uneasy about it. When Michael and I started
