Swara: Maa please! He is not my boyfriend!

Sanskaar: (smirks and throws his arms around Swara's shoulders) Come on darlo, you must not lie to your mother at least.

Swara glares at him as he winks at her, whereas Simmy looks at both of them with a wide smile which refuses to leave her lips

Swara: (angrily) If one murder would have been spared by our government, I swear you wouldn't have been standing here right now.

Sanskaar: (grinning widely) Oh ho! Swara ko ek khoon maaf. That would make an excellent sequel!

Swara: (hits his hand resting on her shoulder) Exactly! Not on the sequel part but I'm definitely going to kill you if you don't shut your stupid mouth right now.

Simmy: Alright I got it, he is not your boyfriend.

Just then Yash pops his head in between their talk and smiles cheekily at his mother.

Yash: Yes mamma! He is her partner. They told me.

Simmy: (with an amused face) Partner? As in?

Swara: Partner, as in seat partner Maa! At the college.

Sanskaar: (smiles) Hello Aunty! I'm Sanskaar.

Simmy: (smiles and nods her head) I'm Simmy. Mother of these two!

Sanskaar: It's a pleasure to meet you and sorry for my behavior earlier. I just love to tease her!

Simmy: (gives a light laugh) Okay! Okay! Enough of talks now. Let's get in first.

Swara: Maa, how are you now? Have you visited the doctor?

Simmy: Yes Swara, I went there. There is nothing to worry about. Now come on inside.

All of them walk inside and Sanskaar looks around. This place is nothing like his home. When his house is... well actually its not any house, it's a mansion... When his mansion is fully furnished, Swara's house is a small one with two rooms, one for her and the other one which is a bit bigger for her mother and Yash, with a bit free space in between where a small television is placed along with a rugged couch on the right side. Towards the left of the place is the kitchen along with a table with two chairs on each of its sides.

Swara: Even though it's not very much, but still its home!

Yash: (standing near Sanskaar) Sanskaar bhaiya, what's your house is like?

Sanskaar: (leans and sits in front of Yash on his knees) Well, it's not very much...

Swara: (cuts in between) Stop kidding Sanskaar. You are a Maheshwari! I mean... Everyone knows that your house is not anything less than a mansion.

Sanskaar: But I guess this one is way much better (he says pointing towards her home) At least all the family members here are together! If you are in a big house you just lie in a corner not even bothering to know what others might be doing. (Swara looks at him with slight concern) Hey! now don't think my family is like that. I just love them and they are quite fun but sometimes I really wish we all could sit together and watch some movies, talking to each other knowing what's happening in their lives! I really miss these kinds of fun things.

Swara: (looks at him with an open mouth and wide eyes) Wow, I didn't know you could talk like this. This is the first time I have seen you saying something serious. (taking a deep breath ) I thought all you can do is flirting and talk nonsense.

She turns and moves towards the kitchen to help her mother who insists on making some snacks for them...

Sanskaar: (goes after her) Hey, that's not flirting! Its called the Art of Impressing!

Swara: Yeah, right! The Art of Impressing! Seriously Sanskaar?

He winks at her yet again as they enter the kitchen.

Swara: Maa! I said naa... No need to do anything.

Simmy: (making an innocent face) But I'm just making some pakodas and chutney! You love them Swara!

Swara: But you are not well. How about make it myself?

Simmy: All right! But I get to do the dishes.

Swara: Okay! But at least rest till then.

Sanskaar: (comes back from behind) And I'll help her.

Swara: Absolutely... (Sanskaar smiles seeing her) NOT! Why do you even think I'll let you help me?

Sanskaar: Because I'm your partner and you find me totally kissable!

Simmy: (wide eyes) What? Did you say that Swara?

Swara: (picks up the knife from the counter and points it towards Sanskaar) You say that one more time and I'll turn your whole body inside out!

Sanskaar: Woah chillax meri Jhansi Ki Rani! And that's (points towards the knife) the work of the medical department. You know the turning inside out thing! And for your kind information we are engineers.

Swara: (bringing knife a bit closer to him) I know that!

Simmy: Swara! Don't frighten him like that. Do you want me to get on with the work when you can fight with your new friend.

Swara: No! I'm not fighting and he is not my friend!

Sanskaar: Not yet! But we will be one soon and you can use that knife to chop the potatoes!

Simmy: I think I should go now. You both can continue. And when I come back I don't want both of you eating each other heads.

Sanskaar: Absolutely, we can handle!

Simmy smiles looking at them and leaves. Sanskaar picks up a knife and starts chopping the potatoes and coriander...

Swara: (shocked) You can cook?

Sanskaar: Obviously! I eat food, so I can cook them too.

Swara: I thought that you being a Maheshwari... You know...

Sanskaar: (rolls his eyes) Come on! I'm not a prince or something like that. I'm a normal person, just like you! And technically since I have lived all by myself for almost two years I learnt how to cook.

Swara: Hmm, looks like I have come to know something new about you.

Sanskaar: There's a lot more Darlo!

Swara: Stop calling me that!

Sanskaar: (winks at her) But you love that.

Swara glares at him folding her arms across her chest. But as he winks at her, she couldn't help the small smile that slowly makes it to her lips.

----------------------------.

After 20 minutes...

Sanskaar is holding a plate full of pakodas and Swara is running after him chasing him in the entire house...

Swara: (shouting) Sanskaar, I'm not kidding. Give that to me right now.

Sanskaar: First accept my condition then I'll think about it.

Swara: (angrily) There is no way I'm going to say that and give me that plate! I made them for me also not just for you only.

Sanskaar: Then say it and take them!

Swara: No I won't. There is no way I'm going to say that.

Sanskaar: Then forget about your pakodas! There is no way I'm giving them to you unless you say what I have asked you to.

Swara: No!

Sanskaar: Okay, as you wish! But don't forget you love them.

He lifts one of them and brings it closer to his mouth, sneaking glances at her from the corner of his eyes.

Swara: (shouts) Wait! (Sanskaar stops and turns around) I'm saying that.

Sanskaar: (grins widely) Go on! I'm waiting.

Swara: (takes a deep breath) Sanskaar... you are...

Sanskaar: Haan! I'm... Go on Darlo!

Swara: Stop calling me that!

Sanskaar: Okay! Okay! Carry on.

Swara: (takes a deep breath again) Sanskaar...

And she stops again...

Sanskaar: Time's up! (he shouts and is about to put the pakoda in his mouth)

"Sanskaar, you are the most handsome, perfect and the sexiest person I have ever seen in my life!", Swara blurts out in one breath closing her eyes...

Sanskaar: There you go! Was it so hard partner? It's totally fun.

Swara: Now give me the plate!

Sanskaar: Here, open your mouth...

He brings the pakoda near her mouth and she raises her eyebrow. There's definitely something going on in his brain! He shrugs his shoulders innocently and she opens her mouth but Sanskaar eats it himself...

Swara: Sanskaar! (she sits down on the couch crossing her arms across her chest)

Sanskaar: Okay! Okay! Sorry, here you go.

He feeds her and both of them laugh loudly...

Swara: (to Simmy) Maa, I'm going! I have an early shift today.

Simmy: Swara!

Swara: It's okay Maa.

Simmy: (worried) But beta, you are just nineteen! You don't need to push yourself so hard. I said naa I can also work to help you out.

Swara: No way! (comes and sits in front of Simmy) Maa, you know I can't take risk with your asthma. And I'm fine doing all these work.

Simmy: I'm such a terrible mother!

Swara: Don't you dare say that! You are the best mother one can ever have and I'm proud that I'm your daughter.

They both hug each other and Sanskaar keeps looking at both of them getting slightly confused. What shift is she talking about?

Sanskaar: Umm... sorry to break this beautiful mother-daughter moment but can I ask what is this shift!

Swara: (breaking the hug) You really have a very bad timing! Shift means work.

Sanskaar: You work?

Swara: We need money to make a living genius! (she smiles) Maa, I'm going.

Simmy: Bye! Take care!

Swara leaves and Simmy turns towards Sanskaar.

Simmy: Thank you!

Sanskaar: (turns) Huh?

Simmy: Thank you for making Swara smile! (Sanskaar smiles) This the first time after her father's death that she is so happy.

Sanskaar: And I'm glad that I'm the reason for this happiness! (Simmy smiles) I think I should also leave my brother is nearby so I'm going to catch up with him.

Simmy: (nods her head) Thanks for helping her! Do visit again.

Sanskaar: I will! Bye aunty!

Simmy: Bye beta! Take care!

-----------------------------.

It's almost 9:30 pm, Sanskaar and Laksh are walking towards their car in the parking lot of an area a few kilometers away from Swara's house when all of a sudden Sanskaar hears a girl singing...

Yaraaaa... aaaaa...
Yaraaaa...

Kyun itna main tujhko hi
Chunti hoon har pal
Kyun tere hi khwaab main
Bunti hoon har pal...

Kyun itna main tujhko hi
Chunti hoon har pal
Tere hi khwaab main
Bunti hoon har pal...

Tune mujhe jeene ka hunar diya
Khamoshi se sehne ka sabar diya
Tu hi bharosa zindagi ka
Tu hai mera hausla...

Mujhe jeena sikha diya
Marna sikha diya
Teri wafao ne insaan bana diya...
Jeena sikha diya
Marna sikha diya
Teri wafao ne insaan bana diya...

(Sanskaar: Lucky, did you hear that?

Laksh: What bhai?

Sanskaar: Someone is singing! The voice is so beautiful.

Laksh: Yes, I can! But who is singing? That too at this time!

Sanskaar: Come on! Let's find out!

They both run in the direction the voice is coming)

Bandhne lage hain
Rishto ke dhaage
Tere mere darmiyaan...
Thode sukoon mein
Rehne lagi hain
Yeh meri bechainiyaan...

Hooooo...

Bandhne lage hain
Rishto ke dhaage
Tere mere darmiyaan...
Thode sukoon mein
Rehne lagi hain
Yeh meri bechainiyaan...

Tu hi bharosa zindagi ka
Tu hai mera hausla...

Mujhe jeena sikha diya
Marna sikha diya
Teri wafao ne insaan bana diya...
Jeena sikha diya
Marna sikha diya
Teri wafao ne insaan bana diya...

Tere khyaalo mein ho gayi gum
Yeh meri tanhaayiyaan
Ab rooh meri karne lagi hai
Teri nigehbaniyaan

Tere khyaalo mein ho gayi gum
Yeh meri tanhaayiyaan
Ab rooh meri karne lagi hai
Teri nigehbaniyaan

Tu hi bharosa zindagi ka
Tu hai mera hausla...

Mujhe jeena sikha diya
Marna sikha diya
Teri wafao ne insaan bana diya...
Jeena sikha diya
Marna sikha diya
Teri wafao ne insaan bana diya...

The song stops...

Sanskaar: Yaar, she stopped singing!

Laksh: Bhai, I think that the voice came from that coffee house.

They both run towards the coffee house...

Laksh: (looks at someone) Swara? Bhai, that's Swara, right? Your classmate?

Sanskaar: Where?

Laksh: Gone! Chali gayi!

Sanskaar: Oh! Coffee house!

They both run towards the coffee house and find a man locking the door...

Man: Sorry sir! We are closed.

Sanskaar: No. No. I just wanted to ask... Was anyone singing over here?

Man: Yes! Nightingale!

Sanskaar: Nightingale?

Man: She has a beautiful voice that's why we call her nightingale. She went out just a few minutes ago! Now if you could excuse me, I'll get going.

Sanskaar nods his head and the man leaves...

Sanskaar: (takes a deep breath) Nightingale? Interesting!
