The loud beatings of the drum woke me up with a jolt. The white ceiling was new, the smell of this room was new.

I rolled my eyes just as all the memories came back flooding in my mind. The drums outside were turning so loud, I couldn't focus on my thoughts.

Removing the covers, I raised my head to look around the room. Normal furniture with much cleanliness placed at the right corners. What impressed me was this big window in my room, covered by curtains but it had been blocked by iron net from outside. So no one could get out? This was just so sunlight could come inside.

Of course, they weren't Vampires.

"Wolves." I groaned, while sitting up on the bed. My eyes squinting as pain jolted in all the joints of my body. I let out a whimper when getting up, I felt swelling type of pain in both of my thighs. "Fucking wolves."

Getting up with some courage to suffer this pain, I got up looking back at the bed only to realize it was King-Sized. "Looks like they aren't uncivilized at all," I muttered to myself, now being unable to ignore the loud beating of the drums.

Walking towards the window, I observed the harsh sunlight which meant I had slept all morning to now afternoon. My whole routine spoiled, I cursed. I had made a fresh schedule to study for entrances to get in the Universities.

"Oh my God," I gasped when I realized, I didn't know for how much time I was here. "My college, my career. I don't want to drop a whole year for the sake of cheering up my mom." I needed to talk about this to Pete any soon.

Removing the white curtains, I was surprised to find myself at first floor. The mountains were looking dope from the far and wait. . . I could see a stable lake in between. But it would be ten miles away or something and must be damn cold, considering the tip of mountains were white.

My eyes lowered finally, my shoulder already moving at the interesting beat that just started. The kids were dancing with laughter and two big bulky men were seated at one side in the big round in front of this house. They were together playing a two drums, a guitar kind of little instrument and a kid near them was popping a flute like tone every ten seconds.

I chuckled when one of the kids came in the middle, started clapping his hand and other surrounded with another step. This was harmony.

"You enjoying first waking hour here," came the familiar voice and I was reminded my whole journey to see these smiles.

My smile faded and all I could do was now pretend to be busy by checking all the faces of women and men who were watching their kids dancing. "What is happening there? Why are they dancing?" I said, praying that they weren't happy because of a kidnapping or kind of a meal that I was to become if my thinking was true.

Ivan laughed out at my expressions. "Oh! Come on. No one's eating your fine ass, unless you allow me."

My eyes were wide and for a moment, I was scared as hell. I stared at him in shock. "You can read minds," I exclaimed, ignoring his comment which was too vulgar for my virgin ears.

He smiled amusingly and shook his head. "I read faces and you are quite easy to read."

I sighed in relief, now collecting my heavy hair which were waist-length but had sick volume that Gran loved so much. . .

Oh Gran

. . . I rolled them and made a messy bun while he further said, "And that's a little celebration kind of thing. It's like pre-jitters for the upcoming-"

"Full moon?" I wondered, making him amused.

He shook his head. "For the mating season that's coming after two months."

My jaw dropped as I asked quietly. "What? Is that kind of breeding period for you wolves?"

He stared at me for a second, considering if he should be offended because I had asked it if I was mentioning some animals.  "Technically, yes. But it is more of a wedding season in your language. We find our mates and those who does, celebrates." he explained slowly.

"Those who don't?"

He liked my curiosity as he smiled, "They wait for next year. Moon Goddess, she always knows the right time and the right place. I haven't find mine yet. I guess, she wants me to have some more fun."

"Fun?" I was confused. "Won't you be having one when you'll find her?"

Ivan was about to tell it when a hand came flying on his head, making him wince an 'Ouch'. I wanted to chuckle but Pete's face made me feel self-pity for some reason. Thankfully, beside him was Mom who had a breakfast tray in her hands, I could guess.

"See, mother. He isn't getting my warning." Pete said and being taller, easily clutched on to the back of Ivan's head, making him bent down.

"Alpha, I was just-"

"Yeah, you were just getting a chance to hit on her." Pete said while my mouth opened in realization. Ivan was a little flirtatious. I needed to be alert whenever he would come around, observing how his reputation was in Pete's eyes.

Mom chuckled and gasped at observing me. "See, I had told you. She is healthier than Eva. Look how her clothes look more good on Misty."

My lip curled up in an extra disgust and I observed my clothes fully. A not-so-tight pajama with a tank-top that was fitting me well. It was my thick hair that hadn't made me feel odd as my bun had loosened the moment I made it.

They had to give me her clothes only?

"Tell that to her face and she'll have the whole house on her head." Pete grinned, finally letting Ivan straighten.

"Oh! Shut up. Eva doesn't mind. I had asked her-"

"Wait!" My heart shrank in suspense. "Who changed me?"

Please don't tell me, it was Eva. I have little belly fat and there are stretch marks on my butts. My breasts are little saggy and big (now I don't know if they are slightly saggy because they are big) but they always look great unless I am wearing something strapless . . . While Eva was all fit and toned. If I remember I had seen her abs in that sports bra. . .

"Of course, me and Ivan. . ." My heart had reached to my throat, I looked at him wide-eyed. "Ivan's mother."

My face turned warm in relief and Ivan chuckled at me, earning a slap on his head from Pete. "You need a fucking beating-" Another slap as Pete took him out of the room.

"His mother," I asked Mom trying to know properly.

She nodded while coming forward and putting the tray on the table. She removed all the curtains and smiled at me, "His mother, Taria is Beta Iago's mate."

I came back to this question, "What's mate, exactly?"

Mom raised her eyebrows, her eyes brightening at my interest in their Werewolf things.

"You tell me. Don't you know?"

I crossed my arms as she walked towards the cupboard in the room and I saw some flowery sundresses inside. She picked out one and put it on the bed while I nodded, "Mate is a friend."

Mom chuckled and looked at me. She left the dress and walked towards me, her hand coming for my cheek. "Mate for us, is the soulmate, Misty. I want to tell you so many interesting things about us. You'll be so hooked. But before that, you should take a bath and eat lunch."

I gulped and nodded, observing that she seemed normal now.

I was only walking away from her when she tugged on my hand, making me stop and look back at her. "Tell me, Misty. Did your father bring you here forcefully for me?" She asked, and I was close to fell on the floor.

My lips parted as I shook my head. "No. He didn't," I said, remembering that I had Gran to save from getting skinned and chewed by the big bad Alpha Daddy. "And he isn't my father."

Mom stiffened immediately. She lowered her eyes, closing them to take a breathe before looking back up at me. "Do you hate me for everything, Misty? Do you not want to stay here?"

If I see my Malina getting upset in any way because of you, I'll skin your Gran. . .

I closed my eyes, controlling the burning of tears at the back of my head. "I am upset at knowing the truth after so many years. I am upset with what happened and how my life turned out to be. I am angry at you for being the cause of it," I said, making her stiffen more and lower her eyes. "But I don't hate you."

Her eyes moved back to meet mine. I nodded, my throat vibrating from emotions. "How can I hate you? I am not a hateful person, mom." My voice cracked.

Bless Gran for teaching me to be a loving person.

Mom looked at me in awe and immediately wrapped her arms around me. Earlier, I didn't want to even show a bit of affection. But now, it didn't matter. I'd have to make mom fine before demanding my answers, so she could at least suffer them instead of getting crazy.

"Misty, I didn't want to hurt you. I didn't want you to ever hate me. That's why. I never told you-" she began with her explanations and I didn't feel right because her sobs were in the way to explode.

I put my arms around her, rubbing her back. "Hey, mom. It's okay. Chill. We have a lot of time for these. But I need to bath right now."

She quietened finally and slowly pulled away, giving me an emotional smile. Her hands cupped my cheeks as she whispered, "You are my most beautiful daughter, my sweetest one."

I was neither the most beautiful, nor the sweetest. But moms always say things like that, with the truest of hearts.

So, I managed to give her a small smile.

"I love you so much, Misty." She smiled, her eyes showing the genuine love and I was already melted. "I have never felt any difference between my children. I love you as much as I love Eva, Natalie, Thomas and Pete."

I covered her hand on my cheek and smiled tightly. "I know, mom."

She smiled innocently, looking like she wanted to hug me again. But she skipped it all with her words, "Thomas returned just hours ago with a brand-new geyser. I had especially asked for it, for your sake. The water from the mountains is always freezing. We can handle but you, my sweet little, won't be able to."

She pulled my hand, taking me to the bathroom while I was remembering the sacrifices I had to make while living here. Maybe, bathing with cold water was one of them.

But thanks to mom, I wanted to cry when she entered the bathroom. Immediately, opening up the taps checking the water, guiding me how to use it. ". . . It's just like you have back in Gran's home. Right, sweetie?"

I nodded absentmindedly, melting in a puddle of helplessness. While I observed the broken bits of wall from hammering it for the nails to hang the geyser. So, this whole civilization didn't use hot water to bath. Damn!

Mom felt embarrassed from the paint that had gotten off because of the hammering. "I am sorry. I'll tell Pete to get it all painted and finishing done properly. You'll have a nice, clean bathroom. Okay?"

She remembered something and immediately clicked her fingers. "Oh my!" She looked around the bathroom, "The bath tub. I forgot the bathtub. Oh! How could I. . ."

I held her shoulders to stop her from fretting over things like that. "It's okay, Mom." I said, looking in her pretty ocean blue eyes. "I like it. It's cozy."

She smiled in hope. "You do?"

"Yes, now shall I bath or you're going to be here only."

She chuckled and pointed at the towels and bathrobe while I rolled my eyes in patience. She finally left the bathroom and I locked the door. Letting out a thick sigh, I hurriedly got out of the clothes.

I needed to get cleaned because my hair had started to stink from no nourishment and greasy sweat.

"Heaven," I murmured, closing my eyes when the hot water from the shower covered my skin, massaging all of my sore areas. I couldn't help but shampoo my hair immediately.

"I love you for this, Mom. Truly." I muttered before spending a whole of an hour under the shower.
