My legs were shaking.

Partly from the injury in knees and partly from the nervousness.

Nirvan had asked Natalie and I to stand at the porch of Stephen's house. Aunt Ilona was standing beside us. We were staring at the other iron gate on the other end of the house. It was broader and the little pathway inside was connected to Stephen's corridor through a broader door than the one we were standing close to.

They would be taking Leo out any moment. Because the van was here and Declan had returned. He directly had went to Leo's room. Axel and Nirvan were called inside too.

I blinked in patience and glanced up at the dark clouds covering the sky. "What time is it?" I asked softly.

Natalie shrugged her shoulders. "Must be half past three or more. . ."

I gulped while observing the grey sky. "Wow! It doesn't look like that. The sky is getting darker by each second," I said while looking around.

"Looks like a big storm is on the way," said Natalie while looking up at the dark clouds.

"No," I mumbled. "Don't say that. Eva is leaving. The journey should be as easy as it could be. After what I suffered on my journey from last night to three hours ago, I will wish for no one to suffer the same."

Just as those words left my mouth, loud thunder ran across the sky, along with lightening we saw far away in the clouds. My whole body shivered as a huge gust of cold wind crossed us. All my flicks were blowing. Natalie was herself trying to push her hair and dress that was blowing because of the slit till the thigh.

I was shaken as I remembered how sunny it was when we had returned to the pack and the mini-orange truck had hit the tree. The mere memory was unbearable for me. And now, it was about to rain any moment.

But I prayed for it to not happen. Eva didn't need more obstacles.

"The weather is influenced by the heart of the Alpha of this pack," said Aunt Ilona while looking up at the grey sky. Her nose was curved sharply and eyes were small. I wondered how cute her real laughter would be. "The Alpha of Lycans is on his way. A storm is coming, indeed."

I blinked at feeling intimidated.

Natalie had paled by the mere words. She gulped hard while sudden clanking was heard.

We three looked at the gate. Nirvan opened it hurriedly while reaching the van. He opened the doors from behind.

My heart broke when I saw Declan pushing Leo's bed out of the broad gates. Eva was holding the iron stick on which glucose packet was hung. Stephen was holding a briefcase which I felt was full of medicines and injections.

Eva's eyes were filled with grief but her face held determination. I knew that she was breaking inside. But I also knew that she would collect herself and go through this bravely.

Leo's face was covered with flowery bed sheet. Natalie stood closer to me and grabbed my hand when Ilona said, "Can I see him?"

Declan flared his nostrils and was even glancing up at the grey sky.

Stephen nodded while Eva stopped slowly, right behind the van. "Of course, Ilona." He encouraged while Natalie hid her face in my shoulder.

I gulped hard and felt pain erupting in the muscles of my jaw. I wasn't ready for this. Axel came through the gates and closed them, even locked that gate as it was only used to bring broad beds through it directly from Stephen's corridor. He walked towards us and stood behind Nirvan.

Eva's eyes moved on Natalie and then, at me. She further looked at Nirvan, Axel and then, back at Aunt Ilona.

Turn around! Turn your head!

I kept chanting in my mind. But seeing Eva's dead, hopeless face, I collected the whole of my courage in me. She would have to see him like this daily until he'd heal.

Aunt Ilona walked near Leo's head and removed the covers slowly.

Chill ran down my spine when I saw the bruised forehead. Blue and purple was all over his face whether around a cut or as a bruise. My eyes filled up when I observed the swollen eyes, nose and neck.

Eva breathed hard while Aunt Ilona covered her mouth very slowly and calmly as to not burn her pain more.

Even Axel looked stunned.

Natalie hugged my waist while I palmed her back as she couldn't look at Leo.

His whole skin was red. His lips were bluish and so dry, it was scary. The breathing was so soft, it was nightmarish. Only his soft lashes and hair were making him alive. It was frightening how his mouth was parted as if he was in a very deep sleep.

Aunt Ilona pulled the covers together to the end of his torso. A hiccup escaped me as I controlled myself to not scream in horror. Stitches and stitches everywhere on his shoulder. Red skin and dark brown marks. The rest of the torso was completely bandaged and so was his chest. His face looked swollen and toned body looked weak. I could see the claw marks all over, very visible and fresh.

Just a day ago, I had seen so happy and charming. He had worked hard on his body and the fitness was visible even now. But the liveliness was absent and it broke my heart.

"His nails have lost the color," said Axel, quietly.

Eva gulped as her throat was shaking.

Aunt Ilona covered him back and checked the injuries on legs by raising the covers from the feet. A gasp escaped her mouth at seeing the horror done on his skin.

"There are just claw wounds everywhere," said Stephen with a sad smile. He raised the cover further and my eyes squeezed shut. I could swear, my heart jolted and I was close to gag. "The meat from here is gone," he told her. "Chunks were taken. Pete wasn't attacking. He was ravaging."

Aunt Ilona blinked and observed as Leo's toned thighs were incomplete. They were bandaged and with the amount of cotton pads and bandaging was used, anyone could notice the lack of fat that had been dipped.

"Observe the details of clawing," said Stephen while pointing at the red skin. Leo's legs were shaven at places to not disturb his wounds.

My throat shook as I saw the deep marks. It nearly looked as if someone had tried to murder Leo with spading fork. The gashes were that deep.

"His claws have just not ripped the skin but damaged the entire muscles underneath. Blood clots have formed but my medicines will not let that happen. Leo will conquer his demons and come back like a warrior as he has always been," said Stephen while Aunt Ilona stepped back, making him cover Leo.

Nirvan was walking towards the driver's seat when our eyes moved towards the left of the street. Because footsteps were echoing along with the thunder.

Klynn was jogging towards us with anger on his face. My breath hitched when I caught Zac following him too.

My eyes widened in horror when I caught the burns at the side of Zac's neck and shoulder. My whole body shook in fright. I fisted my hands when they had neared us and were glaring at me. An urge to cry had spread upon my chest.

"I'll drive," Klynn said while opening the door and gesturing for Nirvan to stay back. Fury on his face was so fresh, I was shaking in fear.

Zac was standing aside with a poker face. His eyes were on the ground. His face had healed but the burns on the neck, I looked away with tears in my eyes. I was losing breaths.

"Aren't you staying for the females?" Declan asked while giving him a confused look. "For tonight."

Klynn glanced above at the lightning sky. As if someone had swiped to grey filter all over the town. The color of our clothes looked faded by the dullness shedding from above.

"Father and mother are staying. You too, brother. Leo needs me more than the females," said Klynn while looking at Eva who was wiping her tears hurriedly.

Declan sighed and nodded quietly.

Zac walked around the truck which meant coming closer towards me. He ignored me and was opening the door.

"Zac," I spoke out hurriedly. Everyone silenced while he stopped his movements and turned around. My confidence loosened at the sight of his clenched jaws. The red patches and eaten skin were giving me shivers and guilt. "I am sorry for hurting you."

He raised his eyes to mine and glared at me hard. Klynn was equally angry inside the van.

"You don't have to do that, Misty." Axel said while standing beside Natalie. "I had smelled his scent. I could feel his emotions. He wanted to catch us and was ready to hurt us if we hadn't listened him and protested."

"But still—" Zac cut me off.

He sighed heavily. "That was a defense, Misty, I understand. We are leaving Alyssa here to her new home. We are taking Eva too with us. You all are family. I forgive you."

Tears slid down my cheeks as I let out a faint sob and nodded. "Thanks," I choked out.

"Though, what can we expect from Pete's sisters anyway. He nearly killed my Beta." Klynn muttered knowingly at a tone that was audible to me. "One sister ignored my Beta for years. One blew fire on my brother. One ran away from serving her pack like a coward."

My body stiffened while Axel growled lowly and covering Natalie from Zac and Klynn's view by pushing her behind him.

Zac smiled awkwardly. "That's the case, Misty. I forgive you. My family won't. Don't come in front of my mother for your own good," he said while giving me a smile that said, I was dead if Luna Anne found me anyhow.

I shuddered visibly.

Zac entered the van and sat quietly. His burns shining like a slap on my face.

Eva sniffled as Declan gestured for her to get ready and enter the van.

Aunt Ilona hugged Eva and said, "In sorrow, we mustn't lose our sanity. Remember that, Pete hurt Leo because his Lycan was near the border. He had to stop Pete because of the deadly border and the dangerous beyond it. The borders exists because centuries ago, Lycans massacred this pack. Don't forget the root of all problems, Eva. Embrace the love from your mate's pack. Your new home. Take care of your mate."

"I deserve this. I ignored him whenever he expected love from me and now, I am too late to return him that love. Way too late," she sobbed.

"Don't forget what I said. I would accept Frankie as beaten, broken, with a leg or eye. Only if dead people could come back, Evangeline," scolded Aunt Ilona. "Leo is very much alive and healing. Your love will bring him back, this hopelessness won't. I will make prayers for him every day."

Eva nodded while weeping slowly and pulling back. She turned towards Stephen who hugged her. He patted her back.

"Say my heartfelt thanks to Ivan. Will you?" Eva asked while pulling back.

Nirvan watched quietly.

Stephen smiled. "Pray that Leo gets well enough to do that himself."

Eva nodded while wiping her eyes. Her breaths turning rough. "I will. I am. With each breathe."

Stephen breathed softly. "You are now the bride of Eastern Pack's Beta. This is not some punishment. Leo has carried his ancestor's legacy. Centuries ago, Beta Morris' offered help to a dying Alpha Rucus. He helped our founder to burn the bodies of the dead wolves. Centuries later, Beta Leo Morris saved Alpha Pete's life by nearly sacrificing his own. Pete and his mate owe you both so much. The bad time is gone, Evangeline."

Eva gulped hard and nodded with determined eyes.

She turned towards us and hugged Natalie. Muttering good things in her ear, she moved on Axel.

"I am going to kick your ass if I find out you aren't Natalie's mate. No one else can handle her. But you," she joked through glossy eyes.

Axel smiled and gave her a warm hug. Pulling back, Eva moved in front of me.

Wrapping arms around me, she whispered in my ear. "These threats will always be empty. From my father, from Luna Anne or anyone else. No one can hurt you except for yourself. I'll miss you."

I wasn't sure if I got her meaning.

Pulling back, she looked in my eyes. Her own bluish ones held some hidden belief. She squeezed my hands.

"Thank you for everything," she whispered.

I shook my head and was about to say how I'd miss her too. When all of a sudden, the door behind us opened. We turned our heads to observe the grassy pathway towards the wooden door.

Thomas was standing there shirtless, his pants hanging on his waist, dangerously low. Pulling them slightly up, he rubbed his eyes as if he had just woken from a deep sleep. He glanced up at the sky and shook his head.

Nirvan snickered beside me when Thomas stretched dramatically and winced while scratching slightly above the broad bandaged around his torso.

He walked towards us and looked around. A slight smirk came upon his lips. He rubbed his sleepy eyes while saying, "Just because one brother hurt your mate. You won't even meet the other one before leaving the pack?"

Nirvan hummed as if some entertainment show was on. He had this big goofy smile on his as Tommy's biggest cheerleader.

Eva's lips trembled as she let out a sob and threw her arms around him.

Thomas chuckled with closed mouth while patting her back. "Aww, don't cry. We both have got the same dramatic in-laws. I feel your pain, sisty. I know. I know." He cooed. "Leo's their family just by name and emotion. My mate shares blood with them."

I smiled while Eva chuckled lightly.

Thomas patted her back. "Don't bully wolves there and avoid drinking. Kick the wolves' asses if they talk back to you like you do always. Don't let our wild mother's name down."

Eva kissed him on cheek before pulling back. She ruffled his hair when he suddenly turned serious. "I failed, you know."

Eva shook her head and gave him a long stare. "You tried and that's what matters more. I always knew that deep inside this goody-two-shoes is hiding a rebel," she said, teasing him with a dry smile. "I am proud of you. And Axel too."

Thomas' smile faded and he slowly clenched his jaws.

Axel took a breath while standing beside Natalie.

"I'll deal with him, later." Thomas muttered while smiling again at Eva. "For now, happy journey. And don't come for a visit any soon. Let us breathe for a decade or more."

Eva gasped while a laughter escaped all of us. Stephen shook his head while gesturing for Eva.

My eyes finally fell on Declan who was waiting for Eva and looking at me. My smile faded and I gulped hard. He looked away and guided Eva to sit inside. Declan closed the door while saying, "Seems like Orina and Albertina are coming in another car with some of the trusted common wolves of our pack."

Thomas walked slowly towards the front of the van and stood in the middle of the street, right two steps away.

Klynn twitched his lips in annoyance while Thomas gave him an equally annoyed look back.

"What? Already pissed?" Thomas said innocently. "At least, you aren't driving with the speed of lightening bolt at the moment. Ask me what I suffered last night."

Zac rolled his eyes while Thomas crossed his muscular but not-so-bulky arms across his chest.

"Just wait till I tell Alyssa how you brothers tried to kill her dear mate, last night. How much your mother loves her son-in-law that she sends hungry dogs after me when all I was doing was just taking my sister to her home," said Thomas with a shake of head. "Guess, I will have to tell Alyssa each and every detail."

Nirvan snickered while Thomas raised an eyebrow at Zac. "And you," he said who observing his spiked golden hair. "Those burns are from the lemon pickle, you fool. You were grinning when you ate them. That was the spicy flavour. Moron. I am sure there are burns down there too."

Axel smirked while Klynn blew the horn.

"Get out of the way, Thomas." Klynn said in boredom, dressed in the leather jacket over same shirt and pant from last night. "I stopped myself from killing one brother. Don't tempt me for another."

Thomas laughed and shut his mouth immediately. "As if you can touch me," he mocked while unfolding his arms. He pointed at both of the brothers with finger. "I'll come to your pack to make my mate happy, next month. And I want full luxuries, dinners and luncheons. Your only brother-in-law must be pampered to the fullest. Otherwise, forget that you have a sister. She is already obsessed with me, enough to understand what you idiots did to us last night."

"Right, Thomas." Klynn smiled sarcastically. "Will welcome you with flowers and rainbows—"

"One more thing," said Thomas while cutting him off. Klynn looked like he was controlling his anger for the sake of Alyssa. "Next time you dare ill talk about my sisters, Klynn. Remember that yours is mine for eternity. Till yesterday, you looked up to Pete and last night, it changed. Fair enough."

"But remember that, Pete's Lycan mate tried to get so close to the border, enough to excite Pete to insanity. While your mate was disappointed that she was mated to a family of blamers. If my sister hadn't cleared out points that night, Orina wouldn't have been leaving for your pack. Pete had been a very good friend to you all his life, everyone knows. I don't want to count the labour we did there when the flood came. He was there to help before anyone. Wasn't he? Plus, what Pete did with Leo, Declan has done with your father. Hasn't he? Just not with the same level of aggression."

My eyes widened and I looked at Declan in shock. He was standing quiet with clenched jaws.

Klynn was too furious to speak anymore.

Thomas hummed while slowly getting on the side. "Getting away for my dear brother-in-law. Otherwise, you need kicks for your stupidities last night. But for now, good luck kisses," he said while giving them a kiss in the air. "How the hell a sweet soul like him took birth in your pack?"

"We are staying quiet only because of Alyssa's love for you," warned Zac.

Thomas gave him a goofy nod. "Flattered, really. On that note, I suggest you to wash those burns with some sanity. People get them when they follow blind orders."

Klynn growled lowly while starting the van. "Mind the age, Thomas. You are nine years younger than me."

Stephen was amused.

Thomas waved it off. "Ah! Don't give me that shit. I am younger than my mate too. So what? Respect the relations, Klynn. You were a guest but became a douche by sending those six dogs to follow us."

Klynn flared his nostrils and rolled his eyes.

"Now, leave. Don't roll those eyes while you drive," said Thomas, irritating the hell out of them.

Klynn finally drove out of the street.

We waved to Eva heartily. My chest started getting heavier when the van went out of the sight.

Thomas sighed while muttering, "Sent six dogs after me as if I was running to a human brothel, to cheat on my Alyssa. Idiots."

"Enough of the names!" Declan said, glaring at him. "And when Males talk, you don't bring in the sisters."

Thomas clenched his jaws while sneering, "At least! I didn't kiss yours in a little bathroom sneakily."

My heart reached my throat while Aunt Ilona gasped.

Stephen immediately walked between them and palmed Declan's chest to get him back.

Both glared at each other who my face was burning from shame. Thomas knew. Oh God.

Natalie and Axel looked at me while Declan glared at Thomas. "Leaving you because you are my sister's mate."

Thomas chuckled humorlessly while sneering, "Not leaving you because you aren't my sister's mate. My eyes will be on you."

Declan flared his nostrils. "You are young, Thomas. Way too young to fight me. Don't poke me. Stay back to playing with your
